So I nearly died but it’s been over a year since I purchased it so I should piss off?

First the kickstand bracket failed, then the rear rack mount snapped, and now the entire frame has broken in half. It’s the Onesport OT18-2 Model which was discontinued.

Judging by the rust in the fork along with everywhere else I don't think you cared for the bike very much.
Combined with the fact you bought an Amazon special bike-adjacent object I think getting 2 years out of it is alright.
Next time take care of your shit and don't buy things that could kill you for cheap.
ImSxyBxtchh@reddit (OP)
I took great care of my bike. What else could I have done other than repair it when things went wrong? The bike rusted from within.
Fryphax@reddit
I've been riding my bike on salt covered roads in the winter for 5 years and none of my steel looks as rusted and pitted as yours.
Do you live by the ocean?
Sszaj@reddit
There is rust on your fork stanchion.
If the bike is one year old then it hasn't been cared for very well, however the frame still shouldn't snap like that.
Veganarchy-Zetetic@reddit
Mudguards to prevent water being splashed directly into the frame at the hole where the wires come out for a start.
Tasty-Ad-9669@reddit
Look at the front suspension. It's either sat in salt and marinaded, never got washed, or ever dried at all after being in a ton of rain.
That's not a bike somebody has cared for.
FunkyWhiteDude@reddit
Personally, if the bike was below a 1000 or 900 in price, I wouldn’t get mad Cheap bikes are made of steel, better ones; aluminum
Jorda5s@reddit
This makes no sense. I got a haro flightline two for 550 6 years ago and it still rides fine just replacing tires, brake pads, grips, and one time the derailer. Its the brands not the price you pay.
Fryphax@reddit
This is r/ebikes.
Yeah, an alloy framed analog bike from a reputable brand is going to be better than a drop shipped steel framed electric bike of the same cost.
Almost like batteries, motors, electronics all cost money.
FunkyWhiteDude@reddit
Just because it hasn’t happened to you, doesn’t mean it doesn’t make sense
Jorda5s@reddit
I'm just saying you don't need to pay 1000 for a quality bike you just have to get a aluminum /carbon frame from a reputable brand.
UncommonSenseApplier@reddit
This is just plain false, although quality steel bicycle tubing isn’t shaped like this.
EvilPencil@reddit
Yep. There’s a world of difference between gas pipe 4130 and Reynolds 853.
Sszaj@reddit
Obviously not true, there are loads of cheap aluminum bikes and also very expensive steel ones.
Regardless of price/care/warranty, the manufacturer and supplier are liable here.
gdir@reddit
Really low quality steel in combination with missing surface protection against rust.
Relative-Display-676@reddit
Weld it back together, it's steel.
Slenderkiing@reddit
Weld ?? A bit of ductape and super glue and throw in some ramen noodles to fill the hole and it'll be good as new
TopRepulsive4766@reddit
Two things are blatantly obvious: The ebike was seriously neglected. Rust is everywhere. If you let something deteriorate to this degree, you will get failure at some point; The ebike is cheaply made, probably of inferior materials.
Since it's past the warranty, of course the company is not going to do anything. That ebike needs to take a 'ride' to the scrapyard.
dianas_pool_boy@reddit
But you saved $3500 by buying a cheaper alternative that a bike from an actual bike company that gives lifetime warranty on frames.
caaper@reddit
Why do people buy this shit? How much more obvious can it be that it's not safe to ride on something that's made out of silly putty?
dickbarone@reddit
I don’t disagree with you on cheap junk being a waste, but this bike was obviously not taken care of. That’s an absurd amount of rust and grime all over the bike.
Y0SH1zzzz@reddit
Well I get the rust because I owned a ridstar q20 which has a steel frame, was never dirty and pretty much never drove in rain yet it rusted like hell on the inside. Learned to not buy the cheapest crap I could find again
everything2go@reddit
Cheap frame, stored outside, hardly cleaned.
Killed_By_Covid@reddit
Shit quality and shit design. Cutting a big hole right where the downtube sees most of its stress is just a bad idea. It looks like you either ride the piss outta this thing or neglect it (or both.). It might be worth investing in a higher quality bike (unless you want to stick with something you can ride hard and put away wet.). Since it's steel, you could probably weld that thing back together and add some gussets. It would likely be stronger than original. But if it the rest of the bike is in similar condition, it's probably not even worth it.
Veganarchy-Zetetic@reddit
My bike has holes for wires in the exact same place but my frame is made from thicker metal and they reinforced the holes with extra metal plates. I guess that is the gussets you mentioned?
LinkForsaken5435@reddit
so you clearly see how rusted it is, and still proceed to ride it lol.
This forum let's some questionable content roll through.
SpacecraftBathtub@reddit
Serious question. Do you ride it often?
Every bike hates being stored outside. The cheaper bikes rust on every part. The more expensive bike you get the least rust you'll have. That said: be honnest if you think you ride enough to get an more expensive bike.
Buying tip: you find better value with older higher end models. Like bikes from 00's that are in excellent condition can be bought for about 400$€£. Look for rebuild or bikes that haven't been used for 20 years. Replace tires for new tires with leak protection (150 in the bike shop).
The least value is in cheap new bikes. You have found out why by yourself now.
beagles4ever@reddit
Huh, and I thought I was an “elitist gatekeeper” for warning people off cheap junk.
Odd-Lime-2738@reddit
Dab of epoxy and some gaffer tape, she’ll be right.

Have you tried j-b weld? Lol
Anyways, seems like you should've called in for a repair a long while ago. I would "piss off" since the warranty is over.
That frame is so fucked, did you take it out to dinner first?
even if they accepted it. They would send you a small refund over a new frame. They only do minor replacement, not whole. Especially with the warranty being expired.
Have you ever thought of transferring to a new frame?
If you are in cali, San Diego. Id be happy to reframe the components if you get a hold of a new frame meant for ebikes.
Im planning on repairing ebikes for those who cant get access to a proper bike shop. Small fee ofc
Americaninaustria@reddit
was this stored in a dumpster at the bottom of the ocean?
Responsible_Earth393@reddit
Bro this thing rusty as fuck
