Hi everyone, I was hoping to get some advice here on a possible trade opportunity. I have a 1st gen 1998 Tacoma 4cyl regular cab 2wd as my daily at 178k miles and climbing. While I really love this truck, I’ve been steadily desiring more seating space especially with my dog, girlfriend and whenever friends/family are in town. A friend of mine offered to trade me his 2008 Subaru Forester XS with 180k on chassis and a new engine swap at 150k along with a new timing kit and pump.

I just have no experience or knowledge of subies. I just know I like these boxy forester generations. I don’t know if this is a good generation, common issues, etc. He’s my buddy and he wouldn’t scam me into anything but we are both honestly curious if this is a fair trade quality wise, since we all know the Toyota tax on the used market is obnoxious.
