The Hantavirus Cruise Ship Outbreak Is Getting More Ominous

collapse related because overpopulation in general - not just a cruise ship that passed by the Americas area where hantavirus is theorized to spread human to human - causes more virii to pass from wildlife AKA human-wildlife interface to your port -> you.
this may be a better prepperintel post let me know. please wikipedia hantavirus: from mwmory it has four lego blocks and two can form together and be deadly but H2H was rare.
this ship was cursed the nations of Africa would not... I read the Dutch? tried to repatriate people.
for those considering doomspending on your last cruise before food and fuel surcharges get added to your 0.002mpg barge of hedonism...

It is localised and won’t spread easily, it will all but disappear in a week or so after treatment and isolation, don’t panic
Angylizy@reddit
The second person that died was the wife of the first victim and she boarded a plane carrying the body of her deceased husband, now the WHO is doing contact tracing for the passengers on her flight, so I don’t think it is “localized”
Sputnik-overdrive@reddit
Go away and read up on this virus, it does not spread like a common cold, very low chances of person to person spread
Angylizy@reddit
Yes historically it spread by contact with rat urine, did you know they haven’t found any rodents on the ship?

Erm, if you read up on this particular strain of the virus you will see that it is literally the one strain that DOES spread person to person though. Please read more about the STRAIN, not just the main name of the virus.

Incorrect, get an education

I legit said almost the exact same thing in January 2020.
And we saw what happened there.

Let's hope that's the case because Apparently it's going to dock in the Canary Islands off Spain.

The response to it has been the same mistakes. They could stop the other people on the boat catching it if they wore N95/FFP3 masks but instead its all about cleaning their hands, the medical world learnt nothing from Covid.

I don't think this particular case is going to be that serious but it's a small indicator that these viruses and diseases are beginning to spread among humans more easily.
failtuna@reddit
Just wait until water scarcity increases migration.
Large groups of people living in unhygienic conditions is just asking to start a new pandemic.
Eycetea@reddit
Its going to be brutal, that plus the absolute lack of care most places have. Bad times ahead.
Copacetic_Chaos@reddit
Is it possible that the Andes strain has mutated to be more transmissible?
BabadookishOnions@reddit
It's not impossible but that's not reason to panic. If it has (which is not necessarily likely) this instance is probably going to die out very quickly because of how and where we became aware of it. I know people said this about COVID but that doesn't mean we need to panic about every disease that shows up in the news.

Honestly it’s more scary how they handle the situation. No one even wants to try and save these people on the ship, it’s still just out there on the ocean. No one wants them in their country apparently. Human lives means less and less these days, we will see a lot more like these episodes when illness is involved, basic human rights are abandoned and it’s everyone for themselves, except in smaller communities. Whenever there’s gonna be outbreaks, crisis and war, people will just abandon that ship and have no interest in saving random people anymore.
TrickyProfit1369@reddit
No country wants to risk an epidemic, simple.

My grandfather who served in the pacific theater during the war had to close hatches on his ship when it got torpedoed sending his seriously injured comrades to a watery grave trying to save the ship in damage control operations to help save many more lives from being lost. Sometimes life is not fair to us and we are on the losing side but we have to look out for the greater good sometimes too.

I put this comment on the original post but perhaps no one clicks through;
People are acting like this is some brand new pandemic virus, but if it’s Andes hantavirus then human-to-human spread is already a known thing. That’s literally the one hantavirus strain known for it.
And the ship left from Argentina - Andes virus strain is endemic in parts of Argentina and Chile. It’s the main hantavirus strain associated with documented human-to-human transmission.
