In the early years of the People's Republic of China, a number of Browning BAR, ZB vz. 26, and Type 99 light machine guns were modified to fire 7.62×39mm ammunition. They used the same magazines as the Type 56 assault rifle.

Modern collectors/shooters still convert type 99s to 7.62x39 so they can shoot affordable ammo.

Won’t lie, a BAR with an AK magazine is really sexy.

Any idea how they modified the chambers?, did they sleeve them or what?
