The Sharp Decline in Americans Who Are Both Married and Homeowners by Age 30 (1960-2025)

Our future is being stolen from us. Millions will never experience a fulfilling life because of the endless greed of a few.

Are marriage and home ownership considered as fulfilling life? If that's the case, I'm happy living an unfulfilled life. The housing market will implode the moment homes become insurable. It's not if, but when. And getting married is a dice I'm unwilling to roll.

Submission statement: Falling marriage and homeownership rates mean fewer children, less consumer spending, and a shrinking tax base, a demographic and economic decline. This is what the slow collapse of a society looks like: just fewer and fewer people able to build a normal life each generation.

Increasing numbers of people simply aren't interested in marriage or children, and reduced consumer spending is correlated with growing minimalism / anti-consumption movements. People are more aware of the effects their consumption habits could have on the environment and are willingly cutting back.
I'm not doubting that financial fears can contribute, but the decrease in people getting married / having children shouldn't be framed as an inherently bad thing. People are waking up to the fact that they can spend their lives doing things that are fun and personally fulfilling, rather than just doing whatever they're "supposed to do" in hopes of fitting the image of a normal suburban life.
We shouldn't be teaching people that the point of life to follow The Standard Life Path. What we're seeing here is the results of people thinking critically about the reasons behind marriage and having children, and realizing they're not interested in it.

Throw yourself into a career, which will lead to less than inflation raises every year, or do what you can to get by and hope for a windfall. Unless you "choose" to be born rich, you're going to be significantly poorer every year and never own a home or be able to afford kids.
But hey we have billionaires now, maybe soon our first trillionaire..

I think partially, this is cultural as well.

Look at the collapse since 2010 on the percentages quoted on the blog - 25 to 12 percent in 15 years! That’s less than half, a significantly bigger percentage drop than any other timespan.
