Whale Watching in Southern California in July

Bringing two young kids, ages 5 and 8 to the area this summer. Visiting between Los Angeles and San Diego. Goal is obviously to see whales, blues being the preference but understandably can't be guaranteed.
We've found three companies:
Newport Coastal Adventure off Newport Beach
Capt. Dave's in Dana Point
Gone Whale Watching in San Diego
Any experience with these companies? Others to consider? Ones to avoid? Thank you!

If you want the highest possible chance of seeing blues, go out of San Diego. They tend to hang out off the Baja coast further south and the guides in San Diego are close enough to take you there. You will absolutely see dolphins which is great for small kids. But I can't stress enough that 4-5hrs in not a huge boat on the open ocean might be a lot for kids that young. Just make sure you come prepared with seasickness pills.
