Can’t decide between 1440p 240Hz OLED vs 4K 180Hz IPS for RX 7800 XT

Hey everyone, I’m trying to decide what monitor upgrade makes the most sense for my setup.

Current PC specs:
CPU: Ryzen 7 7700X
GPU: RX 7800 XT
RAM: 32GB DDR5
Current monitor: AOPEN 25XV2Q F, 24.5-inch 1080p fast IPS, 360Hz native / 390Hz OC

I recently tried my friend’s Alienware AW2725QF, which is a 27-inch 4K 180Hz IPS dual-mode monitor with a 1080p 360Hz mode. Even though my current monitor is technically 390Hz, his Alienware genuinely felt better to me. The image looked cleaner, sharper, and just more premium overall.

Now I’m stuck between two upgrade paths:

Option 1: 1440p / QHD 240Hz OLED
Examples I’m considering:
MSI MAG 274QP QD-OLED X24
AOC Q27G41ZDF / similar 27-inch 1440p 240Hz OLED monitors
Pros I see:
Better contrast, blacks, colors, and motion clarity
240Hz is still very smooth
Easier for my RX 7800 XT to run than 4K
Probably better for competitive/high-FPS games
Concerns:
Not as sharp as 4K
Text clarity/burn-in concerns with OLED
I’m worried it won’t give me the same “wow” feeling I got from the 4K Alienware

Option 2: 4K 180Hz IPS
Main one I’m considering:
Alienware AW2725QF, since I already tried it and liked it
Pros I see:
4K sharpness looked amazing
Great for desktop, YouTube, schoolwork, and general use
Still 180Hz, which felt smooth to me
Dual-mode 1080p 360Hz if I want higher refresh
Concerns:
RX 7800 XT may not be ideal for high-FPS 4K in heavier games
Lower refresh than 240Hz OLED
IPS contrast/blacks won’t match OLED
Games I mostly play:

Minecraft
Roblox
Valorant
Fortnite
Terraria
Some general browsing/YouTube/schoolwork too
I’m not trying to go pro competitively.

I just want the best overall experience and a monitor that actually feels like a real upgrade from 1080p 390Hz.

For people who have used both: would you go 1440p 240Hz OLED or 4K 180Hz IPS with my specs and game list?

Would a 1440p OLED still feel as impressive as the 4K Alienware, or should I stick with the monitor I already tried and liked?
