Will be interesting when they are a few years old and need repair
jerpear@reddit
Plenty of old BYDs in China. They're used as taxis, so reliability is quite good.
Moistinterviewer@reddit
Do they have service centres there?
Dionegro__@reddit
Why wouldn't they lol
Moistinterviewer@reddit
Because they don’t have any here…..which was my point lol
noheroesnomonsters@reddit
Where is here? You've hidden your comment history like little bitches do.
Moistinterviewer@reddit
I’m currently in arundel, sorry if I don’t satisfy your fetish for stalking other people profiles for feet pics or whatever it is that you’re into.
noheroesnomonsters@reddit
Gaining additional context that you yourself didn't provide is why comments histories can be viewed. If you have chosen to hide it, you're ashamed of something or you post crook shit.
Moistinterviewer@reddit
Right, so it’s cock pics then?
noheroesnomonsters@reddit
Who knows wtf you have in there.
wimpires@reddit
We do have service centres no? At least up here Arnold Clark does.
Dionegro__@reddit
Oh i thought China by the way you worded it, my bad
saintsoulja@reddit
Better than Tesla I'm sure, electric are quite simple anyway and byd make the batteries and parts for so many other companies that I'd be surprised if they can't provide parts etc.
We had a model y that someone hit while it was parked, took 5 months to get body panels and basic bits you'd expect to be able to have ready
kobrons@reddit
In germany there are cases where atto3 owner are pretty much left in the dust. Some where waiting well over 6 months for parts. Not saying that this will be the case in the UK.
But Chinese brands aren't exactly known for their great after sales support.
V8-Turbo-Hybrid@reddit
Easily to get parts doesn’t mean their reliability although I agree how bad in Tesla parts service.
Moistinterviewer@reddit
But you at least had a service centre right?

No local brands has any chance with BYD.
ScienceMechEng_Lover@reddit
It's not like the local brands in the UK even deserve consideration, to be honest. Land Rover's reputation is so trash that managing to afford the maintenance to drive one is seen as a status symbol. Jaguar is nothing more than a joke currently. The only British brands doing well are the ones brought out by the Germans (Rolls-Royce and Bentley) and using German parts and engineering in their cars.
V8-Turbo-Hybrid@reddit
What British automakers are considered real British ? Most are taken by foreigner automakers. Would you guys consider MG as your domestic automaker ?
unit2981@reddit
MG is owned by SAIC, a Chinese company. Only McLaren and Morgan are independent
threeinacorner@reddit
I mean, McLaren is basically Bahraini now. But yeah, in terms of engineering, it's still mostly British.
Past-Mousse-4519@reddit
Small sportcars manufacturer's ala Catterham, Ariel, BAC, GMA is still truly british.
RandomCheeseCake@reddit
JLR manufacturers most of its cars in the UK and has a strong UK presence with it's HQ being in the UK despite being foreign owned. MG is strictly a brand for a Chinese state automaker they makes all its cars in china.
Kjartanski@reddit
Morgan probably?
F1T_13@reddit
Other Chinese brands do. The best selling hybrid is apparently also another Chinese brand now. I think it has something to do with the value for money. I don't understand how it's done when we pay tariff tax for the car to still be cheaper than the immediate alternatives.
SquareTarbooj@reddit
Partly because the Chinese government has been subsidizing them for years.
Partly because they produce at ridiculous scale, which helps the unit economics.
Partly because of the excellent local infrastructure and supply chain.
And lastly, they are just very good at what they do. Extreme competence, a good environment, and government subsidies all combined.
Sonar_Bandit@reddit
Are the factories that make BYD cars like the factories that make iPhones where they can basically pay workers poverty wages that would never be allowed in first world countries?
smandroid@reddit
They produce for their local markets which are already multiples of other overseas markets. They have economies of scale just selling locally.
Kryptus@reddit
The government hates it's citizens.
Significant-Dog-8166@reddit
Eh? Tesla doesn't benefit UK.
follaoret@reddit
Should be the opposite right. BYD has no chance with local brands.
But looks like them slept and stop innovation while decreasing quality and increasing price. Them did so much that people can't afford them anymore
antidegeneratepolice@reddit
Definitely. While everyone slept on EV tech, they really pushed ahead with it and now reaps the benefit
bananatoastie@reddit
BYD cars are great, Tesla’s are not
H3rBz@reddit
Similar trend's occurring in other markets too such as Aus:

It would appear the Chinese manufacturers are moving at at rate I haven't seen since the first wave of Korean and Japanese exports to Western Markets. I'd argue the cars are probably better quality than the very early Korean cars? I remember the early Hyundai Excel well. Can't comment on early Japanese cars as I was very young then.
Captain_Alaska@reddit
Yes and no. The cars we are getting are higher quality than initial Korean cars but it should be noted that the Chinese kicked off their domestic industry at the sameish time Korea did, but only recently have they started exporting.
Just imagine Kia/Hyundai but they never sold outside of Korea until 2018 or so and you’d get the idea of what I’m saying.
noheroesnomonsters@reddit
They're still flogging their poorly built shit at the relevant price point.
dinkygoat@reddit
You don't say - a brand that sell 6 EVs ranging from £19,000 - 60,000, than a brand that sells effectively 2 cars ranging from £38-62k. Obviously the comparisons (and they are quite similarly priced) are the Model 3 to Seal and Model Y to Sealion 7. But then the Dolphin Surf, Dolphin, Atto 2, and Atto 3 all have lower starting prices than the cheapest Tesla. That probably helps a lot.
ApprehensiveSize7662@reddit
Same story in Australia auto groups by bev sales.
