Im located in the US, currency is $, budget is about $700
They are both about $700 the 9070xt is a little more expensive by like $50
I'm looking for a gpu for my 4k tv build. It is only 60hz and I'm not playing anything competitive.
Right now I have a 3060 12gb and I have a 3060 ti I could put in it but I would like to future proof it after I get through my old games I'm playing.
The cpu I'm using is a 5500 but I did find a 5800xt for $250
Anyway what do you think will be a better 4k tv setup for my console killer?

I have a 7900 XT and 9070 XT and use both for 4K: Get the 9070 XT.
7900 XT isn't bad, but the 9070 XT is strictly better. You don't need 20GB VRAM for 4K and not having to use Optiscaler for FSR 4 is nice QOL. Not that using Optiscaler is hard, but still.
Also the 9070 XT is much better at ray tracing.

$700 is bad for a 7900 XT. Raster performance is similar to the 9070 XT but you give up a lot of ray tracing performance and native FSR4 support.

5800XT at $250 is also terrible. R5 5600 is only 2-4% slower in gaming and $100 cheaper. There is also the 5800X3D relaunch coming, if the price is $200-300 it would be an amazing upgrade for you.

I heard about a relaunch but was unsure if it was real.
DZCreeper@reddit
It seems to be real.

Obviously if the price is something stupid like $350 it should be avoided. But at $200-300 it makes sense for current owners of DDR4 RAM + AM4 boards.

Stick with your 3060 Ti for now, no point spending money if you have a card that performs fine for this
Sarm-ally_Pirate@reddit (OP)
I was thinking that but I saw a new 7900xt and went down a rabbit hole of should I upgrade?
Will the 3060 ti play newer games at 4k?
Slottr@reddit
It’ll run them, probably not excellently; but with DLSS you should be fine enough

Thanks

I would go with the 9070xt if the difference was 50$. 9070xt is a bit faster card in general than 7900xt (i think it's 5-10% faster depending on the game) but it also supports newer iterations of FSR. I generally prefer playing without framegen but given that you're going for 4k it might come handy at least in some games. 9070xt also has better ray tracing performance for what it's worth. In my opinion ray tracing isn't worth the performance hit that comes with it so I generally disregard it but given that some games now have a ray tracing requirement, it's something to keep in mind as well.

Well right now I'm playing farcry 3 but once I get to modern games I want to be able to play them without issues.
I just wanted to take advantage of a msrp card but if amd is releasing a new card next year maybe I will wait.

9070 XT is better. Better upscaling, you get frame gen
Sarm-ally_Pirate@reddit (OP)
Even with the 7900xt having access to fsr 4k
i shouldn't need framegen since I'm going to play at 60fps 4k
VersaceUpholstery@reddit
It does not have FSR4. There are work arounds, but I’ve heard they typically come with some drawbacks with online games
9070 XT is straight up better in raster performance

I will go with 9070 xt thanks
