Anyone know what old sailboat this is?

Can anyone identify my grandpa’s sailboat from this old photo? Probably taken around 1995 in Florida. I know the angle isn’t great, but curious about the make/model and possible year range.
He was in his mid 60's when he retired and moved from Chicago to Siesta Key Florida a few years later in 1979. He learned to sail on this boat and bought it used in the 1980s. It's name was Challenger. He was so proud. He passed away in his mid 80s and my grandma donated the boat to a sailing school.

I believe it's a Pearson T-25.

Too portly for a Catalina 22, and there is no transom hung rudder. C25 also had a transom hung rudder, so not that either.
My grandfather also had a boat on Siesta Key in the late 60's through the 70's. maybe they crossed paths!

My first eye went to C22 (as I have one), and that's certainly not it, for the reasons you listed. The windows are all wrong for a catalina too.

Thats so cool! Yeah back then, when Siesta Key was a sleepy little beach town! It's so overrun by tourists now.

It’s like 30p of Floridas population that was actually born in Florida. Even the “locals” aren’t native, the “tourists” are what keep the economy alive and, in time, they turn into Floridians and move here. “Over run by tourists” is a sad mentality to have in South Florida. The tourists buying hotel rooms are better than the Dave Portnoys buying mansions.

It's a 25-6 foot something that I've seen before but don't know the name of. Sorry I wasn't much help.

Tanzer 25?

angle looks weird but the lines and windows match a Pearson 26, it could be a smaller boat.

I was thinking the same, but the Pearson 26 has a transom cutout for an outboard motor.

It’s an Irwin 25.

Lots of similarities to my 83 Newport 28, the rig and area around the deck/hull joint aren’t identical, and there is no traveler across the cabin top, but other than that a pretty good match, maybe a C&C?

Could be an Oday. Looks very similar to mine.

My guess. Morgan 28.

Looks british to me and with your grandpa buying it used in the 80s i would say its from the 60s or 70s. Could be a Westerly 25. Its not a Catalina 22 or 25 as they have transom mounted rudders.

Catalina 27... it has an inboard engine..

Catalina 24

Is there such a thing? It could be more like a Catalina 22, or similar.

As others have said both C22 and C25 had transom mounted rudders. As far as I know there was never an onboard C22, and as I understand it inboard C25s were always very rare.

Looks to me like a Pearson 22. Two port lights.

Catalina 22, I think. Fun boat. 👍
