I keep seeing what looks like White Seaweed mixed with green seaweed in San Diego, CA. Is this bleached by the sun or salt? Can anyone help me identify it. It kinda resembles dental floss. Thanks!

That’s not seaweed but eel grass which is actually a marine plant. it belongs there and you should not remove it.

If it’s on the shore it technically doesn’t belong there but still is important for the organisms in the sand and some that come from the land

If you haven't done so already - try iNaturalist! It’s a FREE-to-use joint initiative between the California Academy of Science and National Geographic Society that crowd sources biodiversity data. It has its own algorithm to identify organisms in your photos and if that doesn't work, you can post your photos on the site or app along with a geographic location for identification from other iNaturalist users. https://www.inaturalist.org/
