So gassy any idea if that’s the ammo or just how this gun functions supressed?

That’s… incredibly gassy
BlueOrb07@reddit
Supressor isn’t a flow through type, so adds back pressure causing more gas, direct blowback is inherently gassy, and can also be oil burning off since the supressor is causing extra heat in the action
86PickleRick1986@reddit
Absolutely useless. Suppressor twice the size of gun
truckensafely@reddit
Rugged 9 is gassy on most guns
Best_Compote2522@reddit (OP)
What would be a better pistol can for around 1200$ budget I’d like something 3d printed titanium not sure if you have any experience with one of those
truckensafely@reddit
I don’t think it’s the can, looks like you’re shooting with a Walther, that gun will be gassy with any can.
OzzieBoy2023@reddit
I have a Rugged Obsidian 45 running on my FNX-45T & FN-510T. Gas and particles are a “hazard” of firing suppressed. The 10mm due to the higher pressures of produces even more gas than the 45. When I fire defensive ammo vs ball, it’s even worse. I clean the suppressor after almost every range trip and grease the piston as recommended. Other than this, there’s no oil involved but expect these larger calibers to produce significant gas with the RO 45. If I run the shorter configuration, it lessens the blowback bit does not eliminate it.

The Obsidian 9 is pretty gassy as well.
Guineapirate65@reddit
Looks like your oil burning off. Wtf did you use?
Guineapirate65@reddit
Also have someone show you how to properly grip it
Best_Compote2522@reddit (OP)
Probably right and I’ve always held handguns different than people instruct me and I shoot them well maybe I’m just weird but I will YouTube another method and try
toxicatedscientist@reddit
Na fuck that, you shoot however it’s comfortable, long as youre hitting what your aiming at
Guineapirate65@reddit
His Jeff thumb is sticking straight up and over the slide. They're gonna hurt themselves
ErgoNomicNomad@reddit
If you repeatably hit the target, ignore the "advice". I shoot USPSA, and people sometimes try to critique me helpfully. I listen respectfully and then carry on doing my thing. Bullets, repeatedly, on target are what matters.
Or, as it was explained to me more than 20 years ago, No one remembers which gun they had, what stance they used, or their grip style. They only remember who lived.
ecodick@reddit
If you're the guy I was squadded with who had such a teacup type grip it looks like you're holding the magazine in, it was me who tried to politely suggest trying a higher support hand.
But if that was you, yeah man, do whatever works, and you did listen respectfully
V0zzi@reddit
Your grip looks perfectly fine to me (a nobody)
rkpage01@reddit
You sure you're gripping it right?
Best_Compote2522@reddit (OP)
I think so ? I’m no expert shooter just a new hobby for men
rkpage01@reddit
Not you OP. The guy saying you need someone to show you how to grip it.
ArceusTwoFour_Zero@reddit
If that is a direct blowback pistol, the addition of a suppressor will just make it more gassy. Also, that smoke can be caused by oil burning off due to heat.
Best_Compote2522@reddit (OP)
Yeah I did just clean the gun before so probably that didn’t think of that
extra_flyer@reddit
I’ve found using minimal oil and lubricating contact points with grease (TW25B works phenomenally) helps minimize blowback related to the maintenance of the weapon. A flow through suppressor will help with the rest of its still an issue. For me, I just run grease with traditional cans and the results are pretty great.
noljw@reddit
Direct blow back will be gassy, especially if you aren't using a flow through can. You will have better luck on a tilt barrel gun
Tower-of-Frogs@reddit
What gun and suppressor? Is that a PPK?
Best_Compote2522@reddit (OP)
Walther ppk and rugged obsidian 9mm
Tower-of-Frogs@reddit
A lower back pressure can would help. That’s about all I can think of. Hard to tune a PPK.
-PringlesMan-@reddit
My ZVUK suppressor came with instructions to soak it in oil before first use... I guess I took that a bit too far because it turned into a fog machine. I created a smokescreen fifteen feet wide.
khronos127@reddit
Working as intended. You fire a few rounds and chuck the entire gun at them for a quick smoke bomb.
Best_Compote2522@reddit (OP)
I just have a bit of lithium grease left from using the booster on my Glock I wouldn’t think it would smoke this much
-PringlesMan-@reddit
All you can do at this point is just keep shooting it. Whatever gunk is in there will blast out, as I always say! Just keep checking for abnormal wear and making sure the suppressor is tight. If everything is performing normally after a couple hundred rounds, then it's fine.
Vanjlis_Garafolo@reddit
Second option
YackReacher@reddit
Shoulda brought a brisket to the range!
timmah1991@reddit
Are we c-clamping semi automatic pistols now?
Sianmink@reddit
If I'm looking at it right that's a fixed barrel blowback pistol, with a BEEFY can on it.
Yeah it's going to be forcefeeding you gas.
Super_Raccoon_2890@reddit
I was not expecting a 9in supressor
tangouniform2020@reddit
Appendix carry, get surrounded by women
ecodick@reddit
Good thing I've got experience being disappointing
GrimIntention91@reddit
MushyHandles@reddit
looks like a Rugged Obsidian 9, it's a long boy
Jenkies89@reddit
Best_Compote2522@reddit (OP)
I can run it in short configuration it’s just not as quiet but it definitely looks goofy in full length
Laser-Blaster-123@reddit
Walther ppk style guns all suck suppressed. Has to do with the chamber and fixed barrel.
Best_Compote2522@reddit (OP)
It functions and is really quiet other than the gas so I’d say it’s a win in my book
poopbutt42069yeehaw@reddit
Did you just oil it? Looks like burning oil/clp to me, suppressors increase pressure and how gassy a pistol is ontop of that.
Best_Compote2522@reddit (OP)
Yes
grayson101@reddit
Bro was getting gassed
readitt20@reddit
Mine does that too. You're good.
needtoredit@reddit
Whole milk and heavy cream does that to me. Any chance your ammo has heavy cream in it?
SpiteBadger@reddit
Im the same way with brussel sprouts
