UK Driver here. I see a lot of these videos with trucks stuck on railway crossings, this is rarely seen in the UK.
The common feature seems to that the crossing is 'humped" or raised and the truck or trailer grounds. Is this a common feature in the US, and if it's common why don't drivers lift the suspension?
It’s uncommon in the US for our equipment to have suspension overpressure or lift like European equipment. Exceptions are RNG trailers with hydraulic lift or tractors that have been specced with suspension lift as an added option.
Belgian ex driver, was asking myself the same question, I think it's more of a standardisation issue. Like with the early type speedbumbs, one was always higher or steeper than the others.
Are bumpers even like. Load rated. I mean. The rails are like 5,000 pounds. If I was doing that would of tried both rails, 10k of tug force at least, and put 4x4's under the front trucks drives to get him up a few more inches with his tire spin.

Hi, thanks, I didn't realise that many US trucks lacked lifting suspension, its pretty standard here once you get to around 18 ton trucks.
Cheers and stay safe

It's a crash bumper meant to crumple partially.
That truck was so fucked you could probably pull an axle off before it moved.
