Rental place suggestions around Dallas

I’m a new private pilot (got it a month ago) and I’m looking to fly a Skyhawk by myself and eventually some friends/family. I’m not sure if this is the right place to ask but I’m open to all suggestions!

I was in your shoes a few years ago and looked all over Dallas County. PlaneSmart at ADS is super expensive though they do have a few 172s, but otherwise I think the only shop that will do rentals at ADS is the Addison Flight Club which, in my opinion, is not going to be a reliable way to rent a plane with such a small fleet.
I built a ton of time at Monarch, but unfortunately they exited ADS a few years ago. If you're willing to drive up to North Texas Regional (GYI) I highly recommend them. But that's a long drive, but maybe it's doable once per week? There's a school named Airplanes & Attitude at TKI which had a great and helpful team and I think they rent. Otherwise look up the smaller schools at TKI and RBD as they may also rent to non-students.
For Tarrant County I'll defer to the others, I think Arlington (GKY) has a number of shops that will rent.
And finally, after typing all that out, have you thought about starting your instrument training and using that as a way to build experience and confidence? Looking back I feel like I made the biggest skills jump in my overall piloting during my instrument training. So consider that as well!

Definitely going to start instrument training but that’ll be after summer since I’ll be traveling quite a bit. Thank you for the advice!

Is RFC still operating?

u/TXAggieMike is our local DFW denizen. I'm sure he has some suggestions for ya! It is a big place, so if you could mention the closest airports to you, that would be helpful
Mental_Associate298@reddit (OP)
Closest airport is KADS

Look at RFC Dallas. Bigger/faster planes will give you new stuff to keep learning, and the cost per mile is about the same.

u/TXAggieMike, didn't you fly out of Addison for a while?
TxAggieMike@reddit
When I held a CPL gig flying cardiologists to Paris in a Bonanza A36, I was in and out of ADS frequently.
Only time I operated there as a CFI was with a client and his Debonaire.

I am happy to help where needed!

I'm trying to add cavernous to my vernacular. Great word

As a child, I opted to eat one of those “word a day” calendars instead of white paste.

Bet the calendars tasted good. Lots of fiber

Another good club at Denton (DTO) is AeroValley Flying club.
And if you want a good group with good planes where you have ownership, Metro Flyers Club, also at Denton.
