What happened to Truck stop prices?

OK, I’m home weekly, and the wife prepares my dinners for the week and I’ll usually bring my own lunch, or get a burger or something. I say this to preface the fact that I don’t go into truck stops much unless I need pouches. I fuel and shower at my DC’s.
Long story even longer I ran out of lunch stuff and it’s my go home day. I went to the pilot in Osceola, Iowa on 35 cause it said it had a subway which it didn’t. So I ended up having to get some Pilot food. The fucking pizza was two for $8.50? Roller dogs two for $5.50.? shit was so expensive I could not believe it. When did the prices get this high? I know truckstops are generally higher for convenience items but I swear there’s been a massive price hike since the last time I went shopping in one.
Oh yeah (unrelated but not really) they raise the price on CAT scales….again.
I know shit has been gradually ticking up for a while, but I swear the last few years have been fucking bullshit.

Was it!? I thought it was Obama care!
KoalaOfTheApocalypse@reddit
Nope. It's all that damn Al Gore's fault for inventing global warming.
MssMoodi@reddit
A lot of people wouldn't get that but I sure did thank you for the morning laugh

Don't eat the roller dogs fam. One day I watched this 1200lbs man (at least) waddle out of the bathroom stall after making some exorcist noises inside. He decided to walk out of the bathroom without washing his hands. Alright that's a choice, I suppose. Then this motherfucker walks over to the roller dogs and starts picking them up one at a time inspecting them for...I really don't know what? After touching every single one he decided he infact did not want a hotdog anymore and walked out. Hold on to that mental image and remember it the next time you're thinking about having a snack at the pilot. Mmmm feces dog.

I feel ive heard this before. Seems to happen alot!

Oh eff no, I didn’t. I got some small pre packaged chicken wrap for fkn $7.50.
Be-It-coin@reddit
18 months ago the prices went up
Thegrandestpoo@reddit (OP)
You mean when we started winning?
MustangMark83@reddit
First off, inflation happened drastically under Biden. Second, name a policy “cankles” Harris would have done to ensure prices went down
ScaryfatkidGT@reddit
It did yes…
Trump promised to make it better… then slapped tariffs on everything and started a war he said Kamala would start…

🤡

Right… from Covid. And it would’ve been Biden trying to pass the legislation not Harris. And he did pass legislation called the Inflation Reduction Act, and prices started coming down….. and now have skyrocketed under our current idiot.
What legislation has passed and Trump’s administration that has helped us reduce inflation? Don’t worry I’ll grab my popcorn.
MantisShrimpUpTop@reddit
Just don’t get the popcorn at Pilot, you’re probably gonna be waiting here a while.
Thegrandestpoo@reddit (OP)
😂😂 no doubt.
Thegrandestpoo@reddit (OP)
And as for Harris if she were elected, she would have pushed legislation through:
Federal ban on price gouging on groceries and essential goods
Expanded child tax credit
$25,000 down payment assistance for first-time homebuyers
Raise corporate tax rate from 21% to 28%

First not enact tariffs second not chase the Mexicans who harvest our fruits and veggies milk our cows and cut our meat back to Mexico. Third not be stupid enough to get the straight of Hormuz closed. Need more examples?
Delicious_Peace_2526@reddit
They figured out they don’t have to offer low prices to entice you to buy. If you’re buying something at a truck stop it’s because you don’t have any other options and they can charge their fuck off and go away price.
ScaryfatkidGT@reddit
Yeah but the issue with that is people will fine alternatives then and not stop there…
Thegrandestpoo@reddit (OP)
Yeah, I think today just solidified my “fuck you I’m never giving you my money again“ phase. I love seeing drivers at Walmart, as long as you save me a spot. It gives me hope lol. I mean, they have to be marking up their food at least 600%. I was gob smacked when I was looking at the prices. $5.50 for a little bag of pretzels? In Iowa? Out of their fucking minds.
Affectionate-Tax-119@reddit
It's cause Walmart is too good for us dumb truck drivers...
Thegrandestpoo@reddit (OP)
Well, I mean if you can’t drop a trailer without bottoming out the landing gears 🤷
New_Situation1764@reddit
Covid fucked it all up.
ohhrangejuice@reddit
I walked into a corner liquor store and bought a 12pk of 805.
27.99$ its still bugging me.
Old-Wolf-1024@reddit
Yeah I bout 💩 myself when I went to get my scale ticket yesterday and the lady said, “$15 please”
Thegrandestpoo@reddit (OP)
Yep, and it wasn’t even that long ago they raised it again. They keep nickel and diming. We need some real change and policies in this country. We are heading in our direction I don’t wanna go towards
deezkeys098@reddit
Yea I been living off cream of chicken rice and chicken breast soup for the past year or so… can’t afford to eat at truck stops anymore
Thegrandestpoo@reddit (OP)
I was completely blown away. I remember when the slice the pizza were two for $6.50 or $7. Not that long ago.
