Can I still claim child element of UC?

I'm being made redundant next week, and though I'm already applying for new roles there is a possibility that I'll need to claim UC for a bit while I find my next role. I was earning too much to claim child benefit, so I stopped and let my ex husband claim it. Does this mean that I won't be able to get the child element of UC?
