Are there any options that actually allow open discussion and not overly moderated?

I love reddit because it let me find information I couldn't get from people I knew in person. I could pick a topic and learn as much about it as I wanted. Instead today's subreddits are like a tease, look at what know but because of the rules I can't share any information with you, good luck.
I think most people use discord but that's just a gamble if you're talking to a scammer or not. I want true posts, comments and replies.
I'm sure most of you understand what I'm getting at but the prob isn't just limited to that issue. Information is being blocked/limited in so many ways that most of us likely don't even know about.
How can we get our reddit back? Follow nitch hobbies without having to go hop on discord or some even more shady sites to actually get the information you need.
I was hoping digg would replace it but my goodness did they fumble the launch.

That’s exactly why we built Anonyway. We believe open discussion and niche information come from removing barriers, starting with no account required.

The information you find on here is so small in the bigger scheme of things. You can pick a topic and learn much much more by buying books on that topic and reading them. Once you do that, you'll realize how little people know on this site and how confidently wrong they are 99.99% of the time, with every topic and every sub.

Forums are usually much less censored but that basically depends on the mod team and obviously, there aren't that many around anymore. But some research will let you find them (probably best to use something else than google)
Imageboards are there too. You do have to filter throught a lot of bullshit but that is the price to pay for being open.
Last but not least, newsgroups on usenet, like if you find right one for you, you will enjoy some of the most blatant/creative insults, tons of garbage and brillant discussions, all in one package where there is only your killfile and nothing else rules.

Try a low moderation instance on Mastodon. E.g. autononous.zone

You think you want that, but you don't. And if you genuinely do, then nobody worthwhile wants you.

Exactly, I'd be curious to hear about 3 subjects or ideas OP finds over moderated and closed off on reddit.

The Drama site is the only one I can think of, site has pretty chill moderation. Though it's also very offputting to new users (intentionally so).
X also has lax rules, but customer support is worthless and most content is rage bait.
You can't. A site like that cannot exist on the modern internet, because it's too accessible to low quality users.

I have one, but what are the rules of this sub?

I think the problem with low moderation spaces is that they only work when you have a strong filter for the people joining. For example, you don't need a mod for your friend group chat because you choose friends who can act like normal human beings. Online spaces don't give you that guarantee and there are just way too many undesirables out there. It worked in the early internet days because access to the internet was a filter in itself, but those days are long gone.

This probably, but just be prepared to be “re**rd and fa**ot” in the comments by bots

Not different to Reddit just with retarded mods.
FearlessInflation92@reddit
Not true. I got banned for 3 days on here for saying “your mom!” In a nfl game thread lol. I was like damn, it was a joke lol.
Delicious_Ease2595@reddit
That's the thing of retarded mods

It wasn’t mods, it was a Reddit site wide ban. I probably got mass reported by the other teams fans. I get it, I shouldn’t have said that lol
