I'm a non Brit . While visiting my friend (females over 40) I saw that she had the Spectator Mag on her kitchen table ..
She said that its the British version of Times \ Newsweek Mag .. None Political meaning neutral .. Unlike other newspapers which are political ..
Thaughts?

I don't think that there are any magazines which are apolitical - except maybe some really niche hobbyist ones, but even then they'll have strident discussions about whether 0.25 gauges or pre-spun wool are acceptable and presumably be interested if they can't import their wool without customs charges, or if their fancy cat has to be vaccinated.
Magazines tend to reflect the politics of their owners and writers. The Spectator is a rightwing (centre-right by US standards) publication. You friend might be kidding herself, or falling for the tricks of 'we're Neutral - we let both sides of the 'Should X group be destroyed' debate speak' - even though considering that there should be a debate is inherently political. The compromise between 'Kill all lefthanders' and 'Let lefthanded people live in peace' isn't Kill 50% of the lefhanded.
Amazing-Visual-2919@reddit
That's not a neutral magazine. Your friend is deluded.
horoscopical@reddit
Neutral also doesn't necessarily mean "non-political" anyway.
BillWilberforce@reddit
Her friend is lying.
KinManana@reddit
Unless theyre yanks where our Tories are their socialists

I'm looking for a British Mag that's A-political ( Non political)
Gauntlets28@reddit
The British version of the Times is the Times. The Spectator is okay in terms of quality, but it's a lot more right wing.
AccidentalSirens@reddit
I think they meant Time magazine.
Tagglit2022@reddit (OP)
Yea times Mag is American (I think)
Workshymassiv@reddit
Viz
WhiteDiamondK@reddit
If you don’t think that Viz is political you are much mistaken!
Warngumer@reddit
I read delayed gratification, which is a slow news magazine, like literally it's reporting on stuff 6 months or something after it happened and each edition covers 3 months. So it's usually just reporting a summary of the news, and it's deep dive sections tend to be balanced in some way, I wouldn't say it has an obvious political angle beyond a general liberalness of thought.
Willeth@reddit
Oh I'm so glad to hear this! I had half an idea to start something like a few years ago but didn't have the journalism chops - reporting on the aftermath of stuff the main orgs had moved on from. I'll have to take a look.
Fun_Opportunity_7236@reddit
I read the spectator and even I know it’s decently right wing
PitBullCH@reddit
Spectator is somewhat right-wing - not rabidly, but noticably.
Busy-Ad7936@reddit
Decidedly right wing, with odious and Machiavellian Michael Gove as Editor.
Darrowby_385@reddit
Michael Gove is the editor of The Spectator. That is a pointer to where it sits on the political spectrum.
Acceptable-Sentence@reddit
The closeted coke fiend end?
SevrinTheMuto@reddit
At the Spectator that doesn't narrow him down.
DigitalHoweitat@reddit
It doesn't care as long as The Gear is good?
luffy8519@reddit
As was Boris Johnson back in the day.
Bert1701@reddit
There is no such thing as unbiased media. Every publication has an angle.
GeggingIn@reddit
Take a Break, or That’s Life aren’t political.
sudden-arboreal-stop@reddit
FHM
FloatyFloatyCloud@reddit
Absolutely. Flowers and Horticultural Maintainance is such a lovely break from the politcised media.
Nandor1262@reddit
You see that lady who had grown the biggest melons in the U.K. in the latest edition? Astonishing
FloatyFloatyCloud@reddit
A real achievement. But I hear she allowed her bush to grow so much it concealed her clematis. Rookie horticultural maintainance error.
Nandor1262@reddit
That’s poor got to trim your bush before being featured in Flower and Horticultural Maintenance Magazine it was the whole things is about!
hallerz87@reddit
She likely thinks it’s not political because she agrees with the politics being expressed
StardewObsessive@reddit
The Simple Things is lovely. Not political at all. Just nice stuff.
Fun-Brush5136@reddit
Spectator is openly right wing, and only hires columnists from other right wing papers, so I fear your friend must be fairly far along the right wing spectrum if she thinks that's neutral.
gerrineer@reddit
And 2000ad is just right.
Few_Wolf_4634@reddit
The spec is right wing, the new statesman left wing. Prospect pretends not but is left wing
Classic_Mammoth_9379@reddit
The Spectator is a conservatitive / right-wing magazine. Maybe they were thinking of Heat Magazine? I think that's relatively agnostic politically.
ResplendentBear@reddit
Spectator is not a political magazine, but it's not politically neutral in the slightest either.
