ULPT Request: Find a Meal Train site for a neighbor that faked cancer
Posted by MrStaraZagora@reddit | UnethicalLifeProTips | View on Reddit | 51 comments
Yeah, that's right, not a typo in the subject line. We have a sociopath in our neighborhood that faked cancer and has a meal train that the entire community has been contributing to. We found out about her psycho ways before she faked it, so obviously did not get invited to donate. Meal Train is not searchable, however. Is there any way to find her link so that I can warn people that haven't yet discovered she is a fraud?
rachh90@reddit
this is not the unethical tip, but you should report this to the police. it’s fraud and if they’re getting meals then they’re probably getting other donations including money.

Agree, it's a felony.

The tax man cometh. And unlubed, like the dildo of consequences
frederichenrylt@reddit
The dildo of consequences, new band name I called it!!
Princess_Moon_Butt@reddit
Not just taxes- literal fraud. Faking a medical condition to solicit charity is fraud, and fraud often carries an even harsher punishment than outright theft of equal amounts, since it's inherently a premeditated crime.
This isn't just "Hey you owe us some tax money", this could literally land them years of jail time if they got more than like $1k or so worth of stuff.

Taking a meal out of someone's more deserving moutj

Well, in this case the ULPT is call the police. Sociopaths tend to dig a hole deeper than to admit wrongdoing. Make sure you have the proper proofs, then go to the police. If they back off, call the news agencies. A good scandal brings eyeballs to their site.
Alternatively, sign up for the Meal service, and provide the absolutely shittiest meals possible. Dog food casseroles. Extra ghost peppers. Cake soaked in booze. A tiny bit of Syrup of Ipecac in the beverages. A drop of fox urine on the bottom of a dish. Nothing too hazardous, or you risk yourself. You're just a rotten cook.

Do you guys know how life changing a meal train would be for me?!? I would love for everyone to make sure the kids are fed and I don’t have to cook after work. That lady is life hacking! (Obviously, I know that this isn’t appropriate and likely has legal ramifications)
whteverusayShmegma@reddit
I’m not sure why you got downvoted for this. This economy has had me feeling similarly as desperate sometimes. It’s not like you said you were gonna do it.
I’ve been struggling with a debilitating health condition and would love to have this so that my caregiver had more time to help me with other things, on her days off, for variety, cost, or so I didn’t have to eat TV dinners. Especially after I visited my old neighbor yesterday and she made me a huge plate of food. I had to move out of the neighborhood I’ve lived in for so long and everyone looked after me. I’m so lonely and homesick.
Sunday I was leaving and saw the Mormon missionaries walk past me to probably another house and was so tempted to ask them to help me carry my bag to my car downstairs because I was so tired before even leaving and struggle physically (and this was on one of my very good days). I thought of calling the church to ask if they volunteer and was even willing to join their church if it meant a sense of community and getting help.
Hang in there. It always gets worse before it gets better. Just remember that. Also know that there are so many of us similarly struggling. Eventually we’ll have to start building a community again and helping each other to survive is my prayer. Individualism isn’t working.
LittleDogTurpie@reddit
I have a friend who got some Mormon missionaries who showed up at his door to load an 80” TV into his moving truck. They are supposed to do stuff like that for anyone who asks and you can listen to their nonsense proselytizing or tell them to keep it to themselves. He told them his wife was interested in knowing more about the church and they could talk to her when they were done, but he only did that to prank her. 😂
whteverusayShmegma@reddit
I looked it up and it said that they don’t ex-communicate you if you stop going to the church or aren’t into so I thought about trying it. Why does everyone say it’s a cult?
bencos18@reddit
they actively encourage family members etc to ignore and shun you if you do iirc
whteverusayShmegma@reddit
That’s what I always heard but when I looked it up it said that’s not common practice. Only if you do something big or egregious.
bencos18@reddit
ah
either way given what I've heard from people who left that one I don't trust them

banshithread@reddit
Yeah it's fraud and you will end up having to pay back for all the shit you stole through your lies.
raison_de_eatre@reddit
Oh really you know of a case in case that was prosecuted. Over meals. Cause it was fraud and fraud is illegal.
Hilarious proportion of just-world-fantasizing bootlickers in this sub
banshithread@reddit
No it's on par with receiving gifts by telling someone you've got cancer. Receiving gifts through lies is theft by deception aka fraud.
SGlanzberg@reddit
Yes, hence why I acknowledge that very that in my very comment.

Create burner accounts on social media to warn people.
Dagr0nScaler@reddit
Create burner accounts to reach out to the faker saying you heard their story from someone “at church” and you “felt called to help” and ask for the meal train link.

Comfortable-Emu-2424@reddit
You could find some asbestos and then fake some paperwork from the original homebuilder saying the insulation in their house has a recall them reinsulate their house with asbestos and poke holes in the ducting while you're up there to give them real cancer.
i-am-foxymoron@reddit
I've never heard of "mealtrain".
fap-on-fap-off@reddit
Neighbors volunteering to make meals day after day for a household in crisis (illness, death typically)
Mysterious_Cow_2100@reddit
Or when someone has a baby! That’s usually friends and family, tho.

.com is one.
PuppyJakeKhakiCollar@reddit
Warn them by posting on every neighborhood site you can think of. Facebook, Nextdoor, Ring Neighbors, etc. Someone may even provide the link to the meal train page so you can contact them as well. And while you're at it, check GoFundMe and make sure she isn't scamming there either.
raison_de_eatre@reddit
Imagine how many actual people with cancer you could pay attention to with that energy
raison_de_eatre@reddit
You're mad a woman got like a handful of warm meals. Liars gotta eat too. She even gifted you the powerful ether of self righteous drama lol. Get a life.
everydayimsarcastic@reddit
Once you do find it, sign up for every slot on the meal train. Use different names. They'll be expecting a meal but it will never come.
Something_McGee@reddit
MealTrain.com?
JunglePygmy@reddit
Nobody knows what that is
reverievt@reddit
YOU don’t know what that is.
StuffonBookshelfs@reddit
Plenty of people do. And the rest of you are fully capable of using a search engine to alleviate your ignorance.
worlds_away00@reddit
Many people know what it is, though the name varies (meals on wheels ring a bell?)
Content-Presence2380@reddit
It's a group of people who take turns providing meals for someone in need.
RiddyReddit333@reddit
There are different organizations that provide meal trains. Good luck.
StarCatcher333@reddit
Neighbor obviously used this sane sub to qualify for meal train 🤷🏼♀️
Andralynn@reddit
Could email local churches to warn them. The do services like meal trains, clothes donations, money collections etc
Quirky-Invite7664@reddit
Post about it on Nextdoor.
MeatloafingAround@reddit
Look in the neighborhood Facebook groups, she’s probably posted it there
breathing__tree@reddit
You’re gonna have to ask around probably.
