What kind of system should I pair dual 7800GT’s with an SLI bridge? (Alternative question - any known reliable 939 boards?)

I had an A8N32-SLI Deluxe, but even recapping didn’t fix it. Just couldn’t get Windows XP to run stable on it. I was thinking maybe an early LGA775 SLI board - but at the same time I feel that system would be better paired with the 260 or 470 I have sitting spare.

EVGA NForce 780i FTW SLI Motherboard is a little too new for this cards bit it leaves you some upgrade space.

I'd say an early sli AM2 board would be a better fit. Same k8 CPUs, only now with ddr2. Just get a lower clocked athlon 64 X2 for a more period system.
Deals can be got on those sli AM2 boards if you're lucky, got my asrock alivenf5sli-1394 for 40 euros with a CPU and cooler. I'm planning an a64 X2 6000+ hd3870 system with that board, put you can go a good bit older (or newer) with a board like that.

The ASUS motherboard has been gone for a while. The memory is fine, though. I transported it to a different board (Athlon XP) and am using it there. It’s the Corsair XMS Pro DDR 2X1GB at like 433mhz. The LEDs light up on it which are pretty cool.
