You'll hear that endlessly on this sub. Those mounting points look a lot like threaded inserts, which are super easy to replace with a pop-rivet type tool available at any cheap Chinese tool outlet like harbor freight in the US, or princess auto here in Canada. If you have any hangups with your return you can totally fix that yourself.

Harbor Freight is amazing, their quality of tools has really become quite good over the last decade. I have Milwaukee and Skil for my actual career but I use their Bauer brand for everything else in my garage whether I'm working on bikes or building furniture.

Harbor freight is amazing. Some of their stuff is incredible for the price. But, it's best to research the specific tool you need. Sometimes, harbor freight is NOT the way to go.

For example, I wouldn't personally trust the lathes that harbor freight offers. Unless they've gotten better since I was looking to buy a lathe.

But, I use tons of tools/items from them. Just gotta know what to buy!

I worked at one of the biggest retailers of these bikes in Europe, every bike i sold came back in 4 weeks with everything broken. At that point most of time repairs are more expensive in labor and parts that you can better buy a new one. If you want a Chinese e bike that is good look for certain parts that are on it. BAFANG rear engine, Shimano brakes and gears. Also check for battery if it is from Samsung or other good brands

Drill through the bottle of the frame and put 3 bolts with lock washer nuts on them that’s what I did when I got an ebike that came like that

just fix it right with properly installed rivnuts. thru-bolting it like that allows the nuts to be loosened and the battery to be stolen, which pretty well negates the purpose of the keyed lock.

theyre not welded on, its a rivet with threads on the inside. theyre often made of a different material than the frame. the battery itself should just remove from the mount with a key and then the mount can be screwed into the new rivnuts.

That looks like someone fucked up during manufacturing and just tried to cold weld the bolt holes to size, which of course isn't gonna hold up. Make sure you inspect the next one before you ride it.

This actually makes me wonder why a battery lock would even work at all for these bikes. If the battery can come off and be effectively broken or stolen that easy (this happened during shipment) then surely someone could easily just kick the hell out of the battery and just get it off there easily or destroy the bike. Idk, like I said these welds don’t seem good at all, and I am even surprised there aren’t more cases of batteries just falling off with just normal riding hitting bumps and stuff. (This is a Tonnerrey T8, but I’m not sure if it’s the same for other bikes/same weakness point etc). I can see why some manufacturers completely encase the battery in metal or more of a protective case. Also for what it’s worth, locking the battery doesn’t keep it on there either so idk what the hell lol

Locks are mostly there to keep honest people honest. If someone wants it, they’ll have it. Like a good few people, I dabbled in locksports over Covid and you’d be amazed how stupid/cheap/wilfully ignorant some manufacturers are.

Anyway, the important thing is that your mount is totally fixable. Just make sure to go over everything important on that bike with a fine tooth comb. Who knows what else they might have missed. 🙀

Unless you want a really big spark, you still have to unplug the battery port, which is usually run through the frame or otherwise obscured and requires disassembly. As someone who has worked for UPS, standard box shipping can sometimes involve some pretty big impacts to the boxes.

I am not entirely sure, as I didn’t want to go too far into that project right now. But if it is, yeah I would just try to bolt it in, swap out the screws, or I would zip tie it in etc. When I get a bit more time, and I am less pissed at this Chinese bike, then I will give it a go lol

That sounds good. My thoughts were either bolt it or weld it (or have it welded if you don't have a welder). And they make these really strong cable ties (zip ties to some) that would undoubtedly hold it.
