The Expanse if you haven't watched it already
Logical-Title5403@reddit (OP)
Never what’s the appeal?
LondonParamedic@reddit
It’s hard sci-fi. Very similar to The Martian and Project Hail Mary, as in most of the things that happen are grounded in realism. For example, there is no “magic gravity”. People inside ships only experience “gravity” when the ship is under thrust. Or, if two ships are talking to each other long distance, they can’t talk in real time because of the time it takes for light to cross that distance.
The plot of the series is basically humankind has colonised Mars and the small asteroids and dwarf planets of the asteroid belt. Earth is massively populated, Mars is militaristic and united in its purpose to terraform Mars into a breathable planet, and the citizens of the asteroid belt are lower-class workers. It’s got the political plot lines of game of thrones.
Logical-Title5403@reddit (OP)
I’ll give it a go!
thekittysays@reddit
We found it a bit hard to get into at first, and gave up the first time trying. Once you get past the start of season 1 though it rapidly improves and is a truly excellent series overall. So don't give up if it doesn't grab you straight away, cos it's absolutely worth it to keep going.
phatboi23@reddit
season 1 can be DENSE with world building and setting everything up but it's worth it.
Logical-Title5403@reddit (OP)
I will use sheer grit and determination to stick by it!
Current_Mongoose_844@reddit
It's one of the best science-fiction television series to come out in a while. Incredible worldbuilding, great acting, soundtrack etc. It's on Amazon Prime. And it's done so you can just binge through it should you so desire
JustLetItAllBurn@reddit
Well, done until they consider doing the last three books, which occur after a timeskip...
Logical-Title5403@reddit (OP)
Oh sounds interesting I’ll try it
Voltalox@reddit
It's a great show, but it's sadly unfinished even though there are 6 seasons. Still very worth the watch.
I missed the characters, so I started listening to the audiobooks recently!
CapnFap@reddit
Belta Lowda!
Rasty_lv@reddit
Invincible on amazon is really good. It's animated super hero series, 18+,but it's good. Really good.
Logical-Title5403@reddit (OP)
It’s excellent all up to date, Thraggs a menace
anon1992lol@reddit
Beef on Netflix is very enjoyable
insanityarise@reddit
I thought it was awful, everyone in the show is unlikable and nothing interesting happened.
___Scenery_@reddit
That’s weird because they don’t…
mdmnl@reddit
(Nearing the end of the first season and loving it)
The_Fyrewyre@reddit
What we do in the shadows.

Logical-Title5403@reddit (OP)
On of the best I absolutely love it
Obvious-Stage-6792@reddit
Widows Bay (Apple) is great!
Obvious-Stage-6792@reddit
Also From if you haven’t seen it yet. Season 4 just started, I’ve only just discovered it 🙃
Logical-Title5403@reddit (OP)
Omg youve seen FROM? I love that show in all caught up!!! Literally no one’s seen it
Obvious-Stage-6792@reddit
Yay it’s so good isn’t it!! Can’t believe I hadn’t heard of it till now but loved having 3 seasons to watch 🥲 I’m all caught up too, I both love and hate that we have to wait a week for episodes! I started watching Widow’s Bay because I was looking for something after watching all of From.
What did you think of The Leftovers?
Logical-Title5403@reddit (OP)
It’s so refreshing, there’s nothing else on TV like it. So glad it’s been approved for the fifth and final season! I’ve tried that myself, but couldn’t dim down my withdrawals with another show!
What’s your theory on what’s happening??
Obvious-Stage-6792@reddit
Oh has it, I hadn’t heard that! So glad to hear they’ll be able to tell the whole story! So frustrating when shows get cancelled midway. Still annoyed about The OA 🥲
Oh I really don’t know! Sounds like it’s happened many times over through different lifetimes? Some form of parallel universe I think, but what triggers people ending up there I don’t know. I felt like when they die there they don’t actually die, but I’m not sure now. I did think at one point they were all dead, but that is too similar to Lost, and also Tabitha wouldn’t have been able to go back to the real world. What is your theory?
(If you haven’t seen The Leftovers I really recommend this too btw - the first season is a little bit slow but season 2 and 3 are amazing!)
Logical-Title5403@reddit (OP)
Yes, same, I was scared it would get cancelled and I’d be stuck in limbo always wondering! I know what a good show, I hate when that happens!
I agree, I think they get recycled, through other bodies, like Tabitha was previously someone else, and they had different relationships and it’s a cycle they need to break!
Have you seen any of season 4 yet cause it gives a lot more spoilers to potentially what you mentioned (don’t want to say unless you’ve seen it).
I’ll try left overs tonight when I get in while I’m waiting for more episodes of FROM it’ll help build the gap
JimmyBallocks@reddit
Coronation Street.
Start with episode 1, don’t skip any
Lavidius@reddit
How long would that take if you watched a few episodes a day
MoshizZ@reddit
24hrs a day continuous without breaks would be 181 days.
figwithbigtits@reddit
Without breaks? That would be crazy, you need to include ad breaks for the full experience.
MoshizZ@reddit
Period specific. Those Cadbury adverts “sponsor coronation street” would take me back.
InkedDoll1@reddit
11848 episodes to date, so if it stopped being produced now and you watched 6 a day it would take approx 1974 days, or about 5 and a half years. But of course they're continously producing more, and my maths isn't good enough to work out how long it would take to get up to date.
redds56101@reddit
Zeno's Paradox is famously about how you can never actually catch up to the latest Coronation Street episode.
Lavidius@reddit
Christ
puzzledmidget@reddit
My friend and his wife are currently doing this with Eastenders, 2.5 years in and up to around the mid 2010s I think
No_Pea-1@reddit
Unchosen 2026.
I watched it in a night. It's about a cult. UK tv show, too. So good. I really liked the filming.
Wonky_Halo@reddit
I thought it was poor and predictable. Got to the last episode and didn't bother watching it to the end.
boredandolden@reddit
I agree with you. A terrible show, full of plot holes. It'll be on ITV in 6 months.
fruitcakefriday@reddit
Not new, but Battlestar Galactica reboot if you haven't seen it. Start with the 'mini series' (2 episodes).
FCSadsquatch@reddit
Ozark is really good if you haven't seen it.
ohdeydothodontdeytho@reddit
Widow's Bay. Criminal Record.
Wits_end_24@reddit
For All Mankind on Apple TV
Don_Tommasino_5687@reddit
Came here to say this! One of the best!
Don_Tommasino_5687@reddit
For All Mankind on Apple TV is criminally underrated. One of the best TV series to have come out of the 2020s!
Thestolenone@reddit
The Liiving and the Dead is back on Prime, only one season but it is weird and good.
Channel Zero, Three standalone seasons on Prime. Very weird.
SideOfFish@reddit
Mr. In-between.
Doug__Quaid@reddit
One of the best TV series I've seen. Just finished a second run through it's so good.
SgtBushMonkey69@reddit
I’ve heard very good things about the new 4 part lord of flies
Miss_Type@reddit
It was excellent, very close to the book, and gripping, anxiety-inducing TV.
SgtBushMonkey69@reddit
Haven’t watched it yet but it’s on my “I’ll get around to it at some point” list.
cold_tap_hot_brew@reddit
the Pitt is a fantastic medical drama like a mix of 24 and ER
Bread_is_the_devil@reddit
I don’t usually do medical or hospital dramas but someone recommended this to me and was quite insistent on me watching it. Well I binged all 2 series in no time at all, really enjoyed it. As a fan of the 24 concept of each episode being an hour of real time this was right up my alley
Roofless_@reddit
Landman.
Rootes_Radical@reddit
We’ve just started season 2 of From.
We really like it but got a suspicion it’s going to do a Lost and write itself in knots it can’t undo. Good so far though.
Miss_Type@reddit
I loved the first season, but I've been watching this new season and I'm over it all. There's too much stupid crap happening now.
Logical-Title5403@reddit (OP)
Honestly I fucking love FROM, I’m all caught up with it
No_Pea-1@reddit
Should I Marry a Murderer - Netflix
Thomasinarina@reddit
This is so ridiculous yet so good.
No_Pea-1@reddit
It nearly had me shouting at the TV!
Thomasinarina@reddit
NONNNN, JE NE REGRETTE REINNNNN
insanityarise@reddit
I enjoyed Russian Doll on Netflix (it's very Dirk Gently if you like that kinda thing), the first series is a groundhog day scenario but it is very fun, I assume everyone thinks the homeless guy is some sort of God, I certainly do.
Scavengers Reign is short, but pretty great, hard sci-fi, lots of really weird, unsettling looking alien creatures.
Devs was a single series, but well worth a watch, wrapped up at the end, because it's so short, I'd rather not say too much, stars Nick Offerman.
Bujo88@reddit
Midnight mass. On netflix, fantasic limited series
AClockworkLaurenge@reddit
Abbott Elementary has been my hit of the year so far
elgrn1@reddit
How to get to heaven from Belfast on Netflix.
PineappleFrittering@reddit
Thought this was dreadful.
Logical-Title5403@reddit (OP)
My partner loved Derry girls so I’ll give it a go
eekamouse4@reddit
Loved this.
elgrn1@reddit
It was so funny!
eekamouse4@reddit
Funny & dark, was even better than Derry Girls.
wybird@reddit
Severance on Apple TV is a 10/10 must watch.
Logical-Title5403@reddit (OP)
Seen that too, such a good tv show
unbelievablydull82@reddit
Welcome to Derry, is a few months old. My family and I really enjoyed it
mdmnl@reddit
I couldn't work out how you thought Derry Girls was a few months old and then I put my brain in gear...
unbelievablydull82@reddit
I've mispronounced it as welcome to Derry girls a few times a when talking with the kids about it 😂
mdmnl@reddit
It would be a hell of a crossover episode. Pennywise the clown versus Colm
unbelievablydull82@reddit
god almighty, that'd be too on cruel pennywise
Logical-Title5403@reddit (OP)
My partner loves this I’ll try it
MazerTanksYou@reddit
Pluribus. It's on Apple TV. An overnight takeover of humanity by an Alien hack that leaves only a handful of humans.
Logical-Title5403@reddit (OP)
Seen it excellent!
dobber72@reddit
I watched Mobland, and now everything else I watch seems pretty good in comparison.
ihavetakenthebiscuit@reddit
I've started watching The Blacklist. Turns out I'm a big James Spader fan.
Logical-Title5403@reddit (OP)
I might try this heard good things.
ihavetakenthebiscuit@reddit
It starts out a bit procedurally but i think it really picks up after the first few episodes. Definitely worth a watch my friend.
Logical-Title5403@reddit (OP)
Thanks I’ll try it!
Hambatz@reddit
Secret service on itv prisoner on sky
Ok-Rain6295@reddit
I’ve recently rewatched Fisk, which is great. It’s a comedy about an awkward, recently divorced lawyer (wills and probate, which is always a laugh)
eekamouse4@reddit
Ludwig on BBC iplayer is a crime, comedy drama with David Mitchell, there’s only one series with another in the works.
kerryneal2@reddit
The new Malcom in the middle was awesome if you have watched the original
cloudmountainio@reddit
Yesss, I watched last night!! So good
Empty-Question-9526@reddit
Servant
Silo
Severance
Invasion
Slow horses
Pluribus
All on apple tv
Altnabreac@reddit
Search YouTube for Altnabreac. Start from the beginning.
Opposite_Position125@reddit
shrinking on apple music is good
DameKumquat@reddit
Deadloch (on Prime)
Imagine Twin Peaks only with Tasmanian lesbians. Slightly dark murder mystery, only flipping every stereotype available, and after the first couple episodes, insanely funny.
Last One Laughing is brilliant but you can skip the first half an episode which is just the comedians arriving (or even the first ep).
If you're at all into SF, then you need to watch The Expanse.
