Me vs the guy she tells you not to worry about.
richiemendoza@reddit
I had a drill sgt tell me, "4" does a lot of damage at 80mph." Always remember that.
JudgmentDue610@reddit
2 is the best I can do
tcarlson65@reddit
.25-06, .25 CM, .257 Roberts, .257 Weatherby Magnum, .25-20, .25-35, .250-3000, .25 WSSM, .25 Weatherby RPM, .256 Winchester Magnum, .25 ACP.
BarnackIIIF@reddit
"The Bob" is a great cartridge; best if you're a reloader though.
SPECTREagent700@reddit
this guy .25’s

sadoproject@reddit
That's an understatement. He .25's like a motherfucker. Haven't even heard of half those chamberings.
Ruthless4u@reddit
How many of those can you get factory though?
LoopsAndBoars@reddit
Logistics in place unfairly dictate would-be evolution of cartridge caliber.
tcarlson65@reddit
I would guess availability on even the currently manufactured ones might be tough but I would guess all of them except the .256 Win Mag
Umney@reddit
And there's my absolute favorite -- and yours -- the 6.3 mm Tula.
rabiddonky2020@reddit
25 creedmoor
Super_Raccoon_2890@reddit
Surprised to see you got .256 win mag in there
p8ntslinger@reddit
and that's not even an exhaustive list. tons of quarter bore cartridges
DrBadGuy1073@reddit
.25-45 Sharps, .25 Remington, .25-35 Winchester, .25-223, .25 Copperhead, .257 Kimber
CPTherptyderp@reddit
25 GT, 25-08 (though basically identical to roberts) 25x47
BeefCurl@reddit
Heh nice
Pubics_Cube@reddit
Is that the .22 Dirk Diggler?
kwinz@reddit
By the way: the one on the left is far from the shortest .22 cartridge.
singlemale4cats@reddit
It's unfortunate people aren't making .22 short handguns anymore. It's a lot of fun. My only option is scoring an old Beretta minx.
singlemale4cats@reddit
What the heck is that 10 cm long cartridge
stumpinandthumpin@reddit
Schmedium
caterham09@reddit
There's a ton of 6.5mm bullets on the market
Hades-destiny@reddit (OP)
6.35 not 6.5
SpareiChan@reddit
6.5mm bullet =/= 6.5 caliber, most .25 calibers use a 6.5x diameter bullet.
25-06 is a 6.54~mm and 25-35 is 6.55~mm
BattleHall@reddit
Because for everything in the “varmint” class (say, coyote size and down), various flavors of .22 work fine, are easier recoiling if you’re going to be shooting a lot (like on a prairie dog field), are cheaper component wise, and already have a big head start in terms of barrel availability (probably a bigger deal back in the day). And for “big game” (say pronghorn and up, but really mostly starting with deer), most .25’s are considered kind of marginal. Sure, .243 Win is even smaller and has taken a lot of first deer, but most people eventually move to a larger “adult” chambering, even if it’s just 7-08.
Animaleyz@reddit
One of those seems a bit inadequate
Aggravating-Fix-1717@reddit
Why? Because it never gained market share
sirbassist83@reddit
why dont we have as much variety with 8mm as we do with 308? why dont we have as much variety with 9.3 as we do with 375?
PositiveMix9649@reddit
8mm? Where’s my 11mm auto?
sirbassist83@reddit
desert eagle in 44 mag is pretty damn close.
Hades-destiny@reddit (OP)
Most likely Because those are not an American caliber, so, nationality takes over
sirbassist83@reddit
well 25 is american, so by that logic it should be more popular. and 375 is british, not american.
my point is that its essentially random. there isnt anything 22 does significantly better than 25. theres no real reason that 308 became the dominant bore size for full power rifles as opposed to 7mm. its politics and happenstance.
HybridP365@reddit
Absolutely correct. But I'll also add:
Business deals! Calibers are doomed to die if no manufacturers make a gun chambered in it, or if those chambered in it are junk. Half of the "development" of a new caliber is to get manufacturers to produce new guns for it. And if you can get a military contract it's basically guaranteed to pop off.
NotTodaySlick@reddit
Alright, how far does that get into a human if you fire it straight up your butt? Im thinking stops somewhere in the neck

It is simple, the market does not support a product with such low demand.
nanneryeeter@reddit
Idk but I like some quarter bores!
CPTherptyderp@reddit
We do
Draizy@reddit
Because we don’t.
Squatingfox@reddit
Supply and demand.
juggarjew@reddit
Well, there is .257 roberts, which also the only true rifle round to have an official +P version. So .25 caliber has that going for it at least haha
