Because we generally only get two choices.
LeafyWolf@reddit
Yes, but how do the myriad of policies and ranges of actions get boiled down into two roughly equivalent halves?
ophaus@reddit
They don't. The two-party system is an utter failure.
o93mink@reddit
Because the halves constantly shift their positions to attract more people to their side and it ends up at a rough equilibrium

It isn't there is like 1/4 to 1/3 of the population who doesnt feel represented and doesnt vote
Blutrumpeter@reddit
The parties move their agendas to be 50/50. Nash equilibrium. Whatever it takes to keep us distracted

Money. Those two parties are where the money flows and at this point they have a monopoly on US politics.

Your country (assuming a parliamentary country) is also a 2 party system - the government coalition and the opposition. But we have primary elections, which means we (voters) pick the coalitions ourselves.

The wealthy pit us against each other to prevent the majority of us from seeing the fact that they are the real enemy

This subreddit isn't for discussing politics and current events. There are plenty of other subreddits to do so.
