i was in japan for a few weeks and Pocari sweat saved me in so many ways and i need to find it over here any ideas?
Ive seen the powder on amazon but wondering if anyone had seen them in shops here
jackyLAD@reddit
Did Tokyo Marathon a couple years back and this was what they endlessly throw at you... good lord it's awful. Acquired taste I guess.
GoodTato@reddit
Common find in asian supermarkets, the bottled stuff at least. Haven't come across the powder in shops yet.
Alarming-Cook5789@reddit
You're best getting the powdered version in the pack size for 10 litres of liquid. You can usually get a 2 pack (so 20 litres worth) for around £32 on Amazon
PipBin@reddit
Beware that most Asian supermarkets in the U.K. will sell Korean Pocari sweat. I don’t know for a fact that it is different but it has aways seemed different to me.
leedavis1987@reddit
Heads up though. Some dont taste the same as they do from a vending machine/family mart etc.
😭

Asian supermarkets sell it in bottles or powered form... I highly recommend the powered form it works out so much cheaper.
Itsmebunnyy@reddit (OP)
how do you find the powder form tastes is it a pretty good match?
pouchey2@reddit
Japan Centre also sells the powder to make up yourself.
Personally I was an Aquarius fan and that's near impossible to get here.

Garcia’s in Notting Hill (if you’re in London) for all your non-Brindisa Spanish goods my friend :)
riionz@reddit
You can easily find it in East Asian supermarkets these days (especially Korean ones like Oseyo or Seoul Plaza).

ooh okay i'll have to check if there is any near me thank you
mattcannon2@reddit
Online oriental shops like trade winds sell it to deliver
pleasantlyyplumpy@reddit
online shops? babes tradewinds is an entire supermarket and i go there almost every week!!
OriginalPlonker@reddit
TW rocks
DaveBeBad@reddit
Kenji or Mini-Soc also stock it.
purrcthrowa@reddit
There's a place in Bicester that sells it (the Asian supermarket in the same retail park as the M&S food).
okokokay@reddit
Go to a pocari gym
Think_Money_6919@reddit
Easily found in oriental supermarkets but it’s quite overpriced here compared to getting it in Japan
apeliott@reddit
And have you seen the markup on Strong Zero?
Think_Money_6919@reddit
Not only is the markup on Strong Zero bad, we get a different version with like half the alcohol % and sugar that tastes like some shitty seltzer
apeliott@reddit
It's about £0.70 for the 9% stuff in Japan. I saw one can in the Co-op going for about £3.50
missesthecrux@reddit
WH Lung in Manchester had the real stuff last year for only about £2.50 which is pretty good! Japan Centre in London was like £6 last time I checked.
Dynamite_Shovels@reddit
It's dogshit in the UK; weak and not worth it at all. May as well buy Henry Weston's cider for a kick up the arse and enjoy a decent drink that's heavy percentage.
Think_Money_6919@reddit
Also Pocari Sweat is just an electrolyte drink so lucozade, powerade, gatorade or just electrolyte powder will all give the same benefits
helpnxt@reddit
To start with aquarius is better but yeh you can find it online quite easily on sites like Japan centre.
Also there is a dried version of it in sachets that you add to water, might be a better way to get decent quantities at a better price as easier to ship
Dynamite_Shovels@reddit
Controversial take IMO - tried Aquarius and never got on with it. Felt like a weaker version of Pocari Sweat - which is notable because Pocari Sweat is like a weak version of unflavoured Powerade (still somehow very refreshing though)
helpnxt@reddit
It's all personal taste really but yeh weak unflavoured Powerade is a good description
Dynamite_Shovels@reddit
Both drinks should be absolutely undrinkable on paper but there's something about that weak unflavoured Powerade that makes them really refreshing
missesthecrux@reddit
Aquarius does a sugar free version which is nice
kladoink@reddit
Oriental supermarkets but my son makes his own version up now
UniqueTart6744@reddit
I’ve found it on JoyBuy!
http://JoyBuy.co.uk
Cunningcod@reddit
I’ve seen it is Asda.
Itsmebunnyy@reddit (OP)
oooh okay thats exciting i'll have to take a big asda trip
atsevoN@reddit
We don’t sell it at Asda. Save your trip. (I work there).
Pick_Up_Autist@reddit
That will vary by location. (I used to work there)
atsevoN@reddit
For certain item yes, this isn’t one of them
jarvi123@reddit
Just get any electrolyte powder/ drink the brand doesn't matter.
joeschmoagogo@reddit
Asian supermarkets have them. Oseyo, Tian Tian, even smaller independent Asian shops.
EasyCheesecake1@reddit
I know some lovely, open minded, liberal veterans but sadly many have been moulded at an early age into flag saluting nationalists who have spent a lot of time around toxic masculinity and the result is a reform state of mind.
Master-Trick2850@reddit
Chinese/Asian supermarkets sell it, usially a korean or SEA import rather than from Japan
lavayuki@reddit
Its in Oseyo, they sell the same bottles you get in Japan
