Mostly at home. We like cooking and are pretty good at it. I also have an annoying food intolerance that makes some restaurants difficult, if not impossible. We have a few favorite places for when we want takeout or an evening out (once or twice a month).
smurfe@reddit
It's been about 5 years since I went to a restaurant. I always eat at home.
theCynicalChicken@reddit
Who can afford to eat out these days? Even a combo at McDonald's is $12 😅
sluttypidge@reddit
I typically am full on a kids meal. My sister and I can normally eat for less than $10 at Wendy's
gonyere@reddit
I was this way for years. 4-6 nuggets and a small fry , and I was good.Â
sluttypidge@reddit
I guess it's a perk of being a short lady. I'm 5' 110lbs. It does not take a lot to maintain my person. 😂

Two double cheeseburgers is like $5 and more than enough for a meal for me
theCynicalChicken@reddit
Depends on where you live. I just checked and for 2 double cheeseburgers at my nearest McDonald's would be $7.14 with tax.

Almost 100% at home unless we are on the road and won’t get home in time to cook dinner. Rarely get takeout, maybe once every two months.
JimBones31@reddit
In my household unless it's me traveling for work, we eat out for all but 1-2 meals a month.
Drew707@reddit
Depends on the week, but probably averages to 50/50 cooking and delivery. Rarely do we have the time to actually go out.
MrLongWalk@reddit
I’d say I eat at home for more than 95% of my meals.
manicpixidreamgirl04@reddit
mostly at home
Otherwise-OhWell@reddit
Both.
Rambo-Santa@reddit
At home 95% of the time. The 5% I go out, I regret every single time $$$$$$
KevrobLurker@reddit
Since I retired I almost always cook for myself & eat at home. This trend started during the COVID lockdown. I began to depend on food delivery, gradually switching from meals to ingredients. I have learned to cook more things & even started to bake a few things: homemade soup in my Crockpot from stock I make myself; Irish soda bread from scratch; pizza assembled from storebought ingredients & baked at home; hand--cut French "fried" potatoes made in my air fryer; brownies, cakes & pancakes from mixes. I avoid buying a lot of processed food in favor of fresh. I think I save money, along with meal planning. I've sold a few dinners to my working housemates for cost plus a slight bump, or they contribute beverages &/or desserts. I have the time for this since I stopped working.

Yes.

Military makes it easy to just grab something from base dining hall most days, but I try cooking at home when I have time. Way cheaper and you actually know what's going in your food
InvincibleChutzpah@reddit
Mostly at home. I only eat out unless socialising, celebrating, or going on a date with my wife.
FoolhardyBastard@reddit
We’ve been eating out a lot recently. I’ve just been unmotivated to cook.
Efficient-Panic3506@reddit
depends on the week. if life is chaotic → takeout. if i’m feeling responsible → groceries and cooking like a normal adult lol
Zealousideal_Draw_94@reddit
I mostly cook at home, but eat at work
DummyThiccDude@reddit
I eat out pretty often, but its usually just getting something on the way to work.
Outside of that i usually eat something i have at home. Mostly something frozen or a sandwich because im just really lazy.
OpeningChipmunk1700@reddit
I primarily eat at home because I like cooking.
The only place I have lived where it seems like most people go out to eat more often than cook at home is NYC. I assume there are several causes--small kitchens, lack of cooking skills, desire to take advantage of NYC's restaurant and nightlife scene, etc.
Decent_Concern8751@reddit
Grocery stores are also terrible there. There’s so much good choice in restaurants, poor choice of groceries, bad kitchens etc it’s hard not to eat out a lot. You can also DoorDash thousands of restaurants to your place
Proud_Huckleberry_42@reddit
Long commutes, working late.....
Appropriate-Food1757@reddit
Yeah
sluttypidge@reddit
Normally at home. We only eat out once a month maybe.
Dangerous-Safe-4336@reddit
We eat out two or three times a year.
94grampaw@reddit
Allways at home, some times ill eat the food i cook out side though
Spirited-Way2406@reddit
Eating out is so expensive anymore. Even the formerly cheap fast food places are so expensive that it's less stressful to eat at home. I pack my lunches, and if I can figure out what to pack I will start packing my breakfasts for busy mornings when I have 15 minutes to get and eat my food (instead of using up those 15 minutes going through the drive-through line at the neighborhood fast food joint).
Suspicious-Sorbet-32@reddit
I buy lunch everyday I'm working. But I did eat dinner outside at home tonight
Brave_Speaker_8336@reddit
I eat out probably like 1/4 of meals?
DameWhen@reddit
Exclusively at home, except for twice a week
ChickenNugs4Hugs@reddit
I pay for lunch at work everyday but other than that I usually eat at home.
gonyere@reddit
Almost always at home. I don't think I've eaten out in at least a couple of weeks.Â
FondleGanoosh438@reddit
I eat at work a lot. I work in a kitchen.
Aztroa@reddit
Really just depends on the mood. If my family is feeling like cooking we cook if not we just eat frozen food/takeout. I’d say it’s probably 70/30 homemade vs bought, for me at least.
SeaZone5264@reddit
I usually eat in, we make our own food. Though, it’s not uncommon to go out often either
TellTaleTimeLord@reddit
I eat out a lot, but is not at all the norm
