Should I get Corsair MP600 PRO or WD SN850x?

Hi all,
I'm planning to build my very first PC soon, and long story short, I'm currently unable to decide between these 2 SSDs (included is their prices where I live):
- Corsair MP600 PRO 2TB ($250)
- WD Black SN850x 2TB ($325)
Now I know these two may not be in the same price range as the SN850x is obviously a higher-end option, but I'm trying to find the balance between price and peace of mind. From what I've heard so far, the MP600 PRO uses the Phison E18 controller, which had issues with a Windows 11 update last year, with both Microsoft and Phison pointing fingers at each other and consumers. I'm particularly concerned about this, and tbh I just want to be able to build my computer and just leave it in a corner without ever having to tinker and troubleshoot and all that stuff. With the SN850x apparently a tried and true SSD and generally favored among builders, can anyone with experience with these drives share their thoughts, is it risky to get the MP600 PRO, or is the extra $75 worth the peace of mind? Thanks so much.

Why these two, and which mb are you using? There are tons of good options if you're willing to spend. Get a t705 or 990 pro or t500. Or just get a dramless good old reliable none ymtc nand

I’m using the MSI PRO X870-P, and these two are generally the only decent ones available where I live. Crucial stuff aren’t being sold here, and the 990 pro is available, but also more expensive (around $370 or more) which is beginning to go outside my budget range

What are your options if you're saying it's limited by your location? But I don't know your retailers

Here are the options after a quick search:
- Adata XPG S50 Lite - $190
- Kioxia Exceria Plus G3 / Verbatim Vi3000 / Adata Legend 800 / Lexar NM710 - $210
- Adata Legend 860 - $215
- Biwin NV7200 - $220
- Lexar NQ780 / Acer FA200 / Kioxia Exceria Basic - $230
- Acer Predator GM7000 -$245
- Lexar NQ790/NM790 / Corsair MP600 Core/MP600 Pro / Kingston NV2 - $250
- Kioxia Exceria Plus G4 - $285
- Kingston KC3000/NV3 / MSI Spatium M480 Pro / WD Black SN7100 - $305
- WD Black SN850x 2TB - $325
- Samsung 990 Evo Plus - $440
- WD Blue SN5000 - $455
I've considered the S50 Lite as it's amazingly cheap, but Adata seems to have fishy practices of swapping out low quality components for the same model, and a lot of people seem to have problems with their SSDs in general so I passed. GM7000 looked good to me at first, but the widespread issues reported because of the IG5236 controller seems very risky to me, so that's a no either.
And yes I've considered DRAMless, but I'm willing to pay a bit more for DRAM SSDs. If I'm not wrong, don't DRAM SSDs have more longevity?
Yellowtoblerone@reddit
where can you get the nm790? If you can get it at costco with their return policy, you should get that instead.
dram has basically no effect on longevity in effect in the scale of a lifetime of your pc and beyond. if you're a professional file mover then you should go for it.
innogrit controller issues are widely overblown. if it was me and with good cooling i would absolutely get the gm7000 over the others b/c the lack of price difference. but your mobo doesn't have good enough cooling. if nm790 from costco (4tb was 220 before) i would get that. otherwise go for the sn850x, or the Adata XPG S50 Lite. both g3 and 4 are fine as well but gen 5 runs hot

As you and others on this thread said that DRAM does not matter that much (I mostly do gaming only), I've expanded my options to DRAMless drives as well and got the Exceria Plus G3. Thanks for your help!

Get the cheapest TLC drive that isn't a complete unknown brand.
DRAM doesn't matter as much for NVMe drives compared to SATA drives, and unless you're literally moving 100GB files 20+ times a day, you don't need a drive that's faster than ~3000MB/s.
Even 1500MB/s+ is more than enough for games, but most drives nowadays are at least PCI gen 4 and 4000-5000MB/s+.

DRAM has only a small effect on durability; the flash type (TLC or QLC) is much more important.
Get the Exceria Plus G3.

Update: After informing myself about DRAM vs HMB, I've decided to get the Kioxia Exceria Plus G3. Thanks everyone!
