For those who haven’t actually read the article, they’re talking about matching Toyota’s sales figures in Australia by bringing more models from their mainstream and luxury brands.
It has nothing to do with slowing down the adoption of new tech to focus on reliability.
In terms of EVs and hybrid, they definitely seemed to slowed down from releasing new tech to focus on long term usability.
But for ICE, for some reason I see GWM holding that title as they are sticking to gas cars and still developing V8s when everybody else has abandoned it.

They need some decades to do it, that’s how Toyota running.
Hyundai also knows that, and they’ve been making better models and cars. However, they aren’t Toyota level yet.
