Dispatch . Telling me about tarp load has me considering my options

Recently I joined a trucking company, well today I got out for a load, 260 for 309 mi. Lumber 2 x 4. I asked dispatch if there's anything I need to know about this slow before accepting it, they say no.
I zip over there. Trying to get my time as right as possible, get there, load, still got time to make it all the way without having to run my 10 and I head out. Only when I shut down for the night do I realize it's a tarp load? (Did not know these were commonly always tarp) I could have used the f****** machine that they have so I could tarp this. So much easier but jackass didn't think to f****** tell me and I think he didn't tell me because he didn't want me to pick a different load.
Anywho, this has got me thinking about working for somebody else. Anyone else get this experience from these guys where the dispatch doesn't want to tell you s*** so that they can get you to do whatever?

Are you using talk to text? It's odd you're censoring your language.

I am, I leave it on for Facebook.

You need to ask that question. Every time you are taking the load. Do not assume anything

I know, I just thought! " Is there anything I need to know about this load" was sufficient but no if I don't ask him directly I'm giving him wiggle room to not tell me the obvious thing that would be to my interest.
And then further he doesn't tell me that it's not as mandatory as the load page makes it out, it's only needed if it's going to get wet otherwise the shipper doesn't care.

Nobody tarps 2 by 4's.
Plywood? Yes, but not common studs.

Then he's just being a f** company jackass. I called the receiver they only care about having these tarped if it's raining. Frankly not even sure if they need it still but per customer he's a shill and the don'ts saying to always tarp loads from this shipper are b*.

Your first sentence nails it.

Iām here trying to understand why someone would tarp 2x4s. Hardwood, definitely. Plywood, probably. OSB, maybe. 2x4 SPF, never!

Always assume your dispatch won't give you the info about anything unless you ask for it.

I know I should have f** asked directly. When I brought this up He said to assume lumber is tarped, cool, maybe tell the new guy that before he drives away from the cool tarping machine!

You didn't get load notes? When you saw the tarping machine why didn't you start asking questions?
rbstewart7263@reddit (OP)
No one else including others from my company were tarping. š

They always know. Some of them just bank on the fact that once you're loaded and the clock's ticking, you'll grind through rather than turn around. šŖ Doesn't make it suck any less when you're throwing tarps by yourself in a dark lot.
