I'm looking to take my wife and 2 daughters on a bit of a trip after they finish school. I was looking around this look in Powell river..Just wondering what's everyone's take on it. Is there plenty of camping spots I have a rooftop and a well prepared Overland jeep xj but I'm still not looking to take on anything serious just strictly to fsr and some light offroading

Pick up a Backroads MapBook for the area (you can also add the Map Layer to Gaia). Rec sites and points of interest are noted. Pretty active industry area, so a radio is very strongly advised (you can do your license online, or through an amateur radio club/ shop- lots of ppl in BC willing to oversee the exam if there isn't anythingin person near you). You can print out a list of channels online. You'll need offline maps most of there.
If you aren't already a part of 4WD Association of BC, there are tons of great resources through them (safety, routes, area experts, hacks/ pearls etc). The FB group is also pretty active. If you're new to soft roads/ resource roads/ navigating/ snow wheeling- likely worth it to also join the BC 4x4 Rescue & Recovery FB page as well. Places get pretty busy long weekends, so be prepared to be flexible, pin multiple site ideas.
Snowline is still down to about 1100m. Melting fastt, but lots of flooding and washouts already. BackRoads Status BC & Top Notch Navigator track these pretty reliably, so check ahead. There are a couple wildfires already, none that area- but coastal area around GVRD is already on water restrictions and you're not in the coastal fog belt along there.
Hope yoy enjoy!
