Gen Xrs who only watch the original Stars Wars Trilogy- raise your hands
Posted by Responsible-Maize-86@reddit | GenX | View on Reddit | 257 comments
My journey started with Episode 4 followed by 5 and 6. Played every holiday on local channels. Tried to watch the other movies but lost interest.
dfin25@reddit
I cant raise my hand here because I also watch Rouge One but I'm with you in spirit. The prequels were meh and the sequels were absolute garbage.
fpnewsandpromos@reddit
You should definitely watch Andor.
dfin25@reddit
I've heard it's really good but I dont have Disney Plus anymore.
fpnewsandpromos@reddit
Buy the dvd.
realfakerolex@reddit
I kind of love that we are now at a point in time where people who were little kids when the prequels released are now full grown adults who actually love those movies the same way we liked the originals. All the memes and fond nostalgia for the prequels I see in my algorithm are always so surprising to me.
skinisblackmetallic@reddit
Star Wars was a kid movie & I loved it, as a kid. I judge the later content accordingly.
Bob_12_Pack@reddit
I love all Star Wars content and will watch any of it anytime (ok, maybe not the holiday special). My child self, that had loads of Star Wars toys, cards, Underoos, lunch boxes, etc and yearned for the next movie to come out, would think I was a total ungrateful asshole for picking apart and being all critical of the prequels and sequels. I'll never forget the anticipation and excitement around the release of RotJ. When The Phantom Menace came out, my best friend that I've known since I was 4 drove 6 hours to watch it with me, and we watched it twice that weekend. I don't care how old I am, I will always be that kid when watching Star Wars.
Bloodless-Cut@reddit
I'm a die hard Star Wars fan, so I watch and enjoy pretty much all of it. As a fan, why the heck would I limit myself to only the first three movies.
REDDITSHITLORD@reddit
I'll take you one further: The unaltered remaster VHS tapes on a console CRT.
sleepypossumster@reddit
It's weird, because I will always call myself a Star Wars fan, but I must admit that I truly dislike a lot of Star Wars-related stuff. I love the original trilogy, but only about 40% of the prequel and sequel trilogies. I actually really like Rogue One, Andor, and even most of Solo. The first couple of seasons of Mandalorian were good, and I really enjoyed the cartoon, Rebels. Everything else, though, no thanks. Not sure what that makes me...
tulips_onthe_summit@reddit
Rebels might be the best Star Wars content out there! Did you also watch The Clone Wars? It's also good, but not as good as Rebels.
sleepypossumster@reddit
I really need to give the Clone Wars another try. I understand that you really need to stick with it for a while before it starts to click...
tulips_onthe_summit@reddit
Look up the viewing order. It makes you bounce around a lot, but it makes so much more sense that way.
Reader47b@reddit
I've watched a couple of the new ones one time each. But it's not like I watch the old ones over and over. I've seen them 3-4 times each in my life.
Mynky@reddit
Rogue One being an exception, that movie is top tier, along with the Andor series.
themiracy@reddit
I watched the one with the space Jamaican. Do not recommend. I think I stopped at that point. I did like the original trilogy.
tulips_onthe_summit@reddit
Hondo!? He is amazing! "“Oh, the stories I could tell. So many of them true.”
TheRealCabbageJack@reddit
I did the same. Left the theater thinking “whelp, I liked the originals” and just never watched a Star Wars again
b0zzSauz@reddit
The prequels were so bad they made me reexamine the original trilogy even though I was a massive SW fan as a kid. I learned I really don't like any of it anymore. The terrible dialog ruins these movies for adult me.
tulips_onthe_summit@reddit
I'm the exact opposite. I never could bother much with Star Wars until the new content came out. Then, I was hooked! I am especially fond of the sequels (episodes 7, 8, and 9) and the High Republic book series.
ObviousIndependent76@reddit
Watched Force Awakens last night. It’s so good. What a love letter to fans of the original trilogy.
techparadox@reddit
A few years back I bought a set of the "despecialized" edition on Blu-ray from Etsy. 4-6, cleaned, content restored, and one of the best purchases I've ever made. Lucas's "vision" can suck it.
AGirlHasNoUsername13@reddit
I considered myself a huge Star Wars fan, felt bad because I didn’t like the prequels, didn’t keep up with all the series, then sequels came out, how I loathed them. Now, every time something new comes out I’m like “meh”.
JimTheJerseyGuy@reddit
I stand by my belief that there were only three Star Wars movies. Anything that came after falls into the "blatant money grab" category.
Cisru711@reddit
I read back in the 80s that Lucas's original vision was 9 parts, so I will give him those. All the other movies and tv shows though...
thagor5@reddit
I like the prequels. ( minus Jar Jar). Darth Maul fight and end of ep 3 fights are great
This-Professional-39@reddit
I own the original theatrical release of original trilogy. When I watch the movies, that's what I watch. Funny thing is the prequels/sequels sucked, but a lot of the associated media is pretty good!

I watch all (well most) the movies/series just to see where the story goes. Outside of the original three, I like Rogue One and Episode 8 was decent. The Mandaloriqn was sort of half ass OK and Andor was not bad. Again, I go in not expecting a lot. Just interested in what they do with the story.

IndividualText4931@reddit
They're actually episodes 1,2 & 3. Rogue One is brilliant and The Force Awakens is decent. I don't acknowledge much else.
MelanieAnnS@reddit
Rogue One is brilliant.
Dull-Crew1428@reddit
saw all the original in the theater when they came out
sane-asylum@reddit
That would be me, I’ve never seen any of the other ones
Ray_The_Engineer@reddit
I tried hard to be a fan of the prequel trilogy; there were some good moments, but some things that let it down. CGI instead of practical effects, pod racing, and of course, Jar Jar Binks. I wanted more Star Wars in my life...but ultimately it never generates the same excitement and chemistry for me. The later trilogy..well, the first one was entertaining, I suppose, though it really felt like a rehash of early IP.
I enjoyed The Mandalorian, perhaps some bits and pieces of other shows, but got bored and just let Star Wars go. The folks that are doing the writing at this point are saying things that I don't relate to, at all. I'll leave it at that. For my money, ESB is still the peak.

I actually watch the 4k77 versions and if you don’t know about them, it’s a group of fans who took old 35mm print versions of the true original trilogy (pre-96 SE) and have restored them to higher quality video and audio.
DaoFerret@reddit
Right?
If you’re going to gatekeep back to only the Original Trilogy, then at least do it right by also watching “despecislized” original versions of the films.
Psycosteve10mm@reddit
The Clone Wars really added context to the prequel trilogy.
Significant-Deer7464@reddit
It wasn't 4, 5 or 6, it's was plain ole Star Wars
And Han shot first
edgarecayce@reddit
I dunno man I’m not opposed to the rest of the movies. I just can’t keep up with all this shit. I haven’t even seen half the Batman movies or almost any of the 97 marvel movies.
Alternative-Law4626@reddit
I could never get into the comic book hero movies. I did like Iron man as an exception to the rule. My FIL liked Spiderman so I saw a couple of those. Tried to watch the first Batman and fell asleep all 4 times I tried.
Star Wars: still watching all the big movies. I’m hooked on the story line.
TheJokersChild@reddit

DeaddyRuxpin@reddit
The original trilogy and Rogue One. That’s it.
jpetersell@reddit
Coming to say all of this. Andor and Rogue One are complete perfection.
SickOfNormal@reddit
Andor, Rogue One, A New Hope should be the REAL TRILOGY
It's a far better story all around that the original 3.
jpetersell@reddit
I am a giant fan of The Empire Strike back. They win in Rogue One, and they have to win again. So much story happens in Empire. It’s a classic.
eperker@reddit
And Andor, which is arguably better than all of the rest.
TheKaptinKirk@reddit
This is the correct answer.
DcubedWY@reddit
Well, we have the original trilogy on DVD and saw the prequels in the theater but that’s the last time we watched the prequels. We saw the first sequel in the theater but never watched it again nor saw the next two.
SquareTowel3931@reddit
Jar Jar Binks....'nuff said....then I literally fell asleep in the theatre during the clone one. Never bothered with the 3rd, although Darth Maul is a cool and bad-ass looking character. The acting and dialogue is so painfully bland and boring, like Twilight level bland and boring....and CGI....ughhh.
S1nnah2@reddit
My journey started with star wars and ended with return of the jedi. I know not of these episode numbers of which you speak.
Also if you wanna watch it properly, make an effort to get Project 4k77, 4k80 & 4k83. The 4k fan Restorations of the original theatrical prints. They are a thing of rare beauty.

Saw Phantom Menace the first day in the theater. The spaceships were shiny so it clearly wasn't a Star Wars movie. Saw the Rian Johnson directed one, and that was completely forgettable. So, yes, not only have I only seen three Star Wars movies, I will die on the hill of there only having been three Star Wars movies. I don't know what the other things have been, but...
Ozdiva@reddit
Watched the first 3. Hesitated before I saw 1, and instantly wished I hadn’t. So boring. Haven’t bothered with 2&3.

I'd rather watch Star Trek. Star Wars was fine but just never tripped my trigger I guess.
jonhinkerton@reddit
I could probably sit through the prequels again but it’s been a long time, 15 years maybe. I don’t have strong feelings about the prequels, they’re fine. The story works it just wasn’t cleanly executed - lots of things had to be compressed that needed to be drawn out.
I have never seen 9. The sequels were sad and confusing.

StG4Ever@reddit
When they killed Han, I stopped watching. Fuck the disney corporation.
aWesterner014@reddit
I enjoy each trilogy for different reasons.
Original trilogy: grew up watching them on tv. I was too young to see them when they were released in the theater.
Prequel trilogy: watched them in theaters with college friends. Usually at a midnight showing.
Sequel trilogy: Enjoyed taking my kids to watch them in the theater.
SadCheesecake2539@reddit
I dig the original trilogy: EP 4, 5 & 6. I'm also a fan of Rogue One. Mostly because of how seamless the ending is with the beginning of A New Hope. I'm glad I saw the prequels, but once each is enough. The final three, the First Order trilogy has its moments. And there are some good characters, but they don't have the "Lucas Touch" the others have. So again, once is enough except one thing. Carrie Fisher in her last performance. Being that it's as Princess Leia seems very fitting. But I'll watch those again to see Fisher as Leia. I'm sure at some point it will be to see Ford as Solo and Hamill as Skywalker. But that may just be the six-year-old in me talking.
NVJAC@reddit
Love the original trilogy, didn't like the prequel trilogy, and hated the sequel trilogy. Rogue One is a fantastic prequel, but Solo is pretty "meh."
The television stuff has been a bit hit and miss. Andor isn't just great Star Wars, it's great television and in the conversation for one of the best television shows of all time. The Mandalorian is pretty solid for its first two years but wobbles in season 3. I liked The Book of Boba Fett more than most people, but Obi-Wan Kenobi is mediocre. Ahsoka is OK, and The Acolyte is just bad.
wendx33@reddit
Am I reading this right? There are FIVE Star Wars tv spinoffs?
NVJAC@reddit
Seven live-action TV shows, but 3 of them (Book of Boba Fett, Obi-Wan, and Skeleton Crew) are miniseries.
Intrepid_Practice956@reddit
👋I watched clips of a few of the later ones, but I've only ever seen the three. No interest in the rest.
itgoesineasy@reddit
I saw the “new” episodes once and determined that Star Wars to me were the originals. They could keep the new ones because they just weren’t the same. JarJar Binks should have been cut down by a light saber about 10 seconds after he appeared on the screen. It would have made Episode 1 a hundred times better.
fadedtimes@reddit
I can’t watch the originals. They are so awful. Not saying the others are way better but the original Star Wars is unwatchable. The last time I saw it was during a marathon of all the movies leading up to the force awakens
naruda1969@reddit
Outside of Rogue One and Andor I only rewatch ep. 4-6. I experience deep rage at the prequels and sequels.
Whatnowgoddammit@reddit
That's me. Watched the originals in the theater at release (I guess I was 11 or 12 when the first one came out). When EP1 came out I saw that in the theater also with my son...but that ended any further interest in Star Wars for me. Haven't seen any of it since.
Brackish_Fish@reddit
Coming from a not huge Star Wars fan, Andor is worth checking out. It's more of a spy thriller set in the star wars universe.
KillerSwiller@reddit
Similarly, the recent Maul show is a wonderful noir detective/cyberpunk story. Definitely took a few notes from Andor.
Brackish_Fish@reddit
What's the show called? That would be right up my alley
KillerSwiller@reddit
Maul: Shadow Lord, it just had it's season 1 finale release today.
Hannibal-At-Portus@reddit
Prequel trilogy finished on a high note, but everything else is just unwatchable for me.
BokChoyJr@reddit
If they had spent one more minute on Naboo I would have given up on life.
whiporee123@reddit
Andor was amazing, and it really changes the way you feel about Rogue One. There was a real rush in Force Awakens when you first saw the Falcon, then Han and Chewy again. Beyond that, nothing in the prequels was fun and the other two sequels were just meh.
Early_Doughnut8295@reddit
Not my fault the others are no rewatchable. There wasn't a need for the others.
FormerFastCat@reddit
This is the kind of toxic shit that resulted in Disney shelving star wars expansions.
TheHrethgir@reddit
No, it's Disney watering down the franchise with way too much getting shoveled out. Some is good, some is OK, so is bad. But the shear volume is too much. They did it with Marvel too. So many miniseries and streaming shows that all tie to the movies, and the movies don't make 100% sense unless you watch all the streaming series related, I just can't keep up. So I don't even try, they burned me out.
EverythingScrolling@reddit
Me! I have only seen the original trilogy and have no interest in the other movies.
OreoSpeedwaggon@reddit
I watched and enjoyed the other movies, even though I consider them inferior to the original trilogy. They have their entertainment value though, and some of the television shows have been great too. I'm not one of those SW purists that only likes episodes 4-6 and thinks it's some badge of honor to claim that everything else that came afterward sucks.
NavierIsStoked@reddit
1,2 and 3 (plus Clone Wars) really expanded the universe and lore. They just had bad scripts. The movies looked great with great action sequences.
7, 8 and 9 are unmitigated disasters that had no defined direction or end point.
OreoSpeedwaggon@reddit
I still found stuff about 7, 8, and 9 to enjoy, but I partially blame Kathleen Kennedy for not doing more to rein in the egos of JJ Abrams and Rian Johnson in order to tell a more cohesive story with a tone and pacing that matches the originals.
ColoradoAfa@reddit
I’ve only seen Return of the Jedi, but didn’t really care for it. I love Star Trek though!
Cubbance@reddit
If I'm being honest, for some reason now I can't get into any of the Star Wars stuff. I loved it as a kid. I loved it as a young adult. But as years have gone by, for some reason my opinions of it have shifted, and now I don't particularly enjoy any of them. If I had to choose what to watch, it would probably be OG trilogy, but even those just don't do anything for me anymore.
JollyGiant573@reddit

Familiar_Rip_8871@reddit
I was so looking forward to the sequels and then so disappointed. Casting didn’t work, writing was bad and the whole explanation of Anakin (“Ani”? Really??) turning to the DS seemed hollow to me. I do like Ewan as Obi-Wan though. I pretend the prequels don’t exist.

battlesong1972@reddit
I’m currently in a rewatch. I used to only watch the OT. I’ve actually added ep. 3 and Rogue One to the list. I really tried to watch Attack of the Clones, but stopped it 15 minutes in
KillerSwiller@reddit
Go watch The Clone Wars tv show as it really fleshes out the characterization of Anakin, Obi Wan, and many of the clones themselves(Cody, Rex, Fives, Echo, etc.). If you aren't sold by the first few episodes, go watch the 'Darkness on Umbara' arc(Season 4, Episodes 7-11). I was lukewarm on the show myself until I saw those episodes. Likewise, the ending of the show is worth watching all of it, huge emotional payoff at the end.
RonPossible@reddit
The second trilogy I've grown to like, for the most part. The Clone Wars cartoon really fleshes out those characters and actually makes the movies better.
Rogue One stands with the original trilogy. Star Wars: Rebels has the feel of the original trilogy and leads into Rogue One and EpIV. Andor ties directly into Rogue One and is really good.
KillerSwiller@reddit
For me, the prequel trilogy was saved by the Clone Wars tv show. Completely recontextualizes all of them and Anakin as a character.
There is nothing that can save the sequel trilogy. Kathleen Kennedy et al. torpedoed themselves and the franchise with them. I watched them once and have never felt the need to watch them again.
GatorNavy9002@reddit
I watched the original three, at the theaters, in the 70s/80s. I enjoyed them. Never watched them again or any of the new ones. My kids are now adults, and to the best of my knowledge, they have never watched a Star Wars Movie.

I don’t know about that. The original trilogy mostly has happy endings. Giant parties and award ceremonies at the end.
I’ll stop short of spoilers, but let’s just say Rogue One…. doesn’t.
I thought it was a very different kind of Star Wars movie. Much more gut wrenching.
happycj@reddit
Absolutely. But I also think that's the ending I prefer... the darker one. It opens up the future for more stories. Having a big show tune at the end feels ... so 1970s.

I have seen all the live action movies. I will rewatch IV, V, VI once in a while. I have not rewatched the prequels or sequels except Phantom Menace because Qui Gon Jinn and Darth Maul are cool, and it’s nice to know a bit about Vader’s origin story. I could imagine watching II and III again just to see the rest of the origin story.
TBH little about the sequels stuck with me. I probably liked The Force Awakens the best of the three. I can barely remember the last two except I do remember how absolutely cringe the big reveal was…
BigBlueGuitar@reddit
Saw Star Wars in the theaters at nine. Skipped HS for Jedi. Then came Phantom Menace. When the music started and the credits spooled across the screen, I was nearly in tears.
By the end of the movie, a part of my childhood had ended. The next two prequels were even worse.
I liked The Last Jedi because it obliterated the skywalker straitjacket, but younger fans far more obsessed than I ever was went and ruined the fun.
happycj@reddit
Preach.
happycj@reddit
I'll raise half a hand. A New Hope: yes. Empire Strikes Back: yeah, but that last scene is so cheezy it just makes you leave with a bad taste in your mouth. Return of the Jedi: just ... no. Show tunes with Ewoks? Yeah. Nah.
I'd moved on to Blade Runner, Buckaroo Banzai, Mad Max ... all the Star Wars stuff was a little too trite for my highly advanced age of 14-15.
vinvega23@reddit
The original trilogy is the best. I can appreciate Ep 3 because it was so dark and hopeless for the Jedi. Ep 7 had potential, but they ruined any chance it had with Ep 8 and 9. Rogue One was a great movie in its own right. Mandalorian and Ahsoka have some potential. When Luke shows up at the end of the season in Mandalorian, it was epic.

I have the entire trilogy box set on VHS with the original versions too. I don't have anything ti play it on but I'm never getting rid of it. I also found a copy of A New Hope on Laserdisc a while back too. I figure that's probably the original version as well.
Responsible-Maize-86@reddit (OP)
I will also accept the Family Guy Trilogy parody and Spaceballs. Genius stuff.
RedditSkippy@reddit
I only watched the original three. Wasn’t interested when the newer movies came out.
PossibleDiscipline90@reddit
I didn't really care for the new ones. The old ones will always be the best!
Upbeat_Ant6104@reddit
I was thinking about this the other day when somebody posted what order to watch the movies. My thought was the original trilogy, then skip the rest. They ruined it for me. I did like Rogue One. And Andor.
lectroid@reddit
Andor & Rogue One will be there when you’re ready…
Responsible-Maize-86@reddit (OP)
Rogue One is resonating throughout this post. Gonna give it a fair and thorough watch.
AlwaysLateToThaParty@reddit
Hell no. I introduced my son to star wars in machete order, and revenge of the sith is his favourite.
maddog2271@reddit
I will watch the originals (4-6) I guess but it was a bad omen when they rereleased Episode 4 in the 90’s and suddenly Greedo shoots first. I mean what the hell.
diedforyourzyns@reddit
I enjoy all of them, but in different ways.
Informal_Cloud8740@reddit
You must must must watch Andor/Rogue One
tmmao@reddit
I love The Force Awakens! OG GenX fan. My rewatch order is 4,5,7
CromulentPoint@reddit
I was the biggest Star Wars nerd I knew from the original release to about 10 years ago. I read books, I collected toys, all of it.
In the midst of those sequels, it all just melted it away. Maybe Disney killed it, I dunno.
I still have my big ass Millennium Falcon mounted on the wall in my theater room, just because it’s rad and fond memories and all that, but at this point, I’m good. I’ll rewatch the first one every once in a while, but that’s it.
cutsryd@reddit
I will watch 2 or 3 if on. 3 is good movie. Solo watchable. Andor 1, 2 and Rogue One a great Trilogy on its own 👌
cirkis@reddit
Watch only rouge one
chrispd01@reddit
The Burlesque Version ….
puddlepunk@reddit
Well, if we're only going to talk about the first three, I think you really mean to ask: "Who only watched Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi?"
Responsible-Maize-86@reddit (OP)
Yep.
Boring-Community-100@reddit
And had the action figures. I remember when I got to fly the Millennium Falcon rather than an X wing Fighter or Sandcruiser. Porch a power trip. 🤣

The only movie out of the OGs that I enjoy is Rogue One. I don’t understand what happened at all in 7,8,and 9. 1,2, and 3 with the horrible acting and I mean the Ewoks were bad enough but the whole jar jar and the gungins was ridiculous. We really deserve better.
Other_Television_805@reddit
Hi. When I was a kid I couldn’t wait until when everyone was over all the Star Wars crap. Guess that’s never happening.
Rambo-u-drew1stblood@reddit
I'm the first months of GenX. I also don't understand how the next two or more generations still eat this stuff up. Between the Comic book super hero movies and Star Wars never ending stories, I'm stuck in this time warp that connects this crap to my childhood. I'm not a fanatic but I guess the ability to create truly different franchise has been thwarted somehow.
Have you seen project hail mary? What a flaming turd of re-tread garbage. Yet people are claiming it was awesome?
DoookieMaxx@reddit
I love the first 6 …truly. The prequels were invaluable to the franchise because they complete the Vader arc. He was my favorite as a kid (est ‘76) and the prequels made his story more impactful.
After that the series can fuck off.
MrRetrdO@reddit
I think I can agree on that. Everyone loves to see the birth of a villain. The rest of the movies are just.... UGH.
Dozcal@reddit
Original trilogy in the theater. Haven't seen the others. Sure a min or two channel surfing but never sat through. At first I wondered if the others would change how I feel about the original. Then lost interest in them. Can't count how many times I've seen 4 and 5, then 6
Some-Cartographer942@reddit
I had turned 14 by the time Return of the Jedi came out. I loved the earlier two but something about the Ewoks and returning to blowing up the Death Star made me very cynical about it, but at least it gave me closure.
I got a little ramped up for the series return and watch the Phantom Menace. I hated it. Took me years to realize that the fairy tale that is Star Wars isn't for me but made for children.
I finally let it go. Until I took my niece to see Rogue One. And it almost pulled me back in. It was so well done.
Self-Comprehensive@reddit
I've seen them all but the only ones I've watched more than once are the originals
Myfreakinglyfe@reddit
I was just talking about this with my Gen Z coworker.
Upper-Affect5971@reddit
Andor & Rogue One the only two Star Wars series that are worth of shit
borisdidnothingwrong@reddit
Maul: Shadow Lord is pretty damn good.
I like the sidewalk chalk/pastels animation style, it has the mix of ordinary people and Force users, good in universe reasoning for what is going on in the plot, and palpable danger for the main characters.
It also is fairly self contained. Yes, there are things for those who've seen all the other movies and live action series and animated shows, but as long as you've seen the original trilogy you don't need to know any other lore.
Heretogetthingsdone@reddit
Fun Fact:
When Mark Hamil accepted the role of Luke Skywalker in Episode 4 A New Hope, he had not seen episodes 1 thru 3.

Pretty much down to SW and ESB from the original run these days.
Rredhead926@reddit
I watched 1, 2, and 3... and then my son made me see 7. I don't really acknowledge that they exist, though.
And I have VHS copies where Han shot first, so there's that.
Accurate_Ostrich_240@reddit
I don’t watch it if I can help it, but the originals all the way. I can’t with the ad-on universe.
InstantGrievous@reddit
Saw the original trilogy in the theatre, then all the others as well. Love all the prequels, sequels not so much. Most of the animated shows are very good, as are all of the shows on Disney. Admittedly, I am a Star Wars slappie and it's hard for me to not like any of the content except for the sequels, those were quite disappointing
CTTK421@reddit
I'm sorry to say...but I've been a SW junkie since I was like 3/4yrs old. I've seen every movie (or version) in the theater... I say 3 or 4 only becaue I dont know when my dad brought me. Released in '77 (3) but played well over a year in many places.. The hooks were set deep at a young age....lol
aluke000@reddit
4,5,6 and Rogue One. There is a fanedit that combines the Andor series into 4 movies, which is epic as well. The rest are all rubbish.
Chad_Hooper@reddit
I tried to do the prequels when they came out, but Episode 2 ruined the whole franchise for me for a lot of years.
But I grew up watching Spaghetti Westerns like a lot of you did, so it was kind of inevitable that I would give The Mandalorian a chance. It pulled me right back in. Those first two seasons were brilliant from a Western background, and the rest weren’t bad.
I even got around to watching Rogue One and the sequel trilogy.
Sequels over Prequels, and May the 4th be with you.
Turbulent_Tale6497@reddit

Just the trilogy and some of the old books and comics!

Correct. I tried, I really did, but just couldn't get into the rest.

Maybe it was the absolute dogshit acting?
WelshRarebit2025@reddit
I saw that one with Jar Jar Binks and it totally turned me off the whole series. I think I saw parts of one other new one after that but it was meh. Maybe one day I will watch them all in order.

Think of Rogue One as a "Star Wars story". It is good, worth watching as a supplement to only 4/5/6.

7-9 are a hot mess of a storyline, and 1-3 includes Jar-Jar Binks, which is a hard"no" for me.
4-6 are the only movies I'll officially recognize.
