Does scratching a car (minor) when pulling out the garage make you a bad driver?

You get one freebie for colliding with an object that has not moved since it was constructed.
leftfootbraker@reddit
Once? Nah. Twice? Ok, maybe. Three times? Better stop parking in the garage you are a bad driver.
One_Evil_Monkey@reddit
Once, twice, three times a lady.... at some point it's no longer Lionel Ritchie or the Commodores....
It's just comma, and the doors.
Turbulent-Matter501@reddit
take this fake trophy LOL 🏆
One_Evil_Monkey@reddit
Thank you... I'll be here all week.
Unlike the OP's paint... badump, tss..... 🥁
OneEyedDoofus@reddit
if you hit anything while driving, ESPECIALLY something as easy to avoid as this, you are a bad driver. Have you tried not hitting anything?
Nervous_Hurry_9920@reddit
I consider myself a great driver. Very safe, very aware. Last ticket was in '06.
I used to race the backroads/canyons and can finesse the fuck out of stick shift.
I scratched my expensive luxury car backing into my driveway like a week ago. Shit happens
slartibartfast64@reddit
LoL.
Nervous_Hurry_9920@reddit
Yup.... Shit happens.
slartibartfast64@reddit
Passive voice avoidance mechanism is so lame.
What shit happened? Like, some inanimate object jumped into your path?
Or did you just screw up but can't bring yourself to say you screwed up?
Nervous_Hurry_9920@reddit
I scratched my expensive luxury car backing into my driveway like a week ago. Full ownership. Dead stop.
I fucked up. The shit that happened was I scratched my car
Good enough for you?
Turbulent-Matter501@reddit
if you're 16 and it's your first time backing out of the garage and there was not an experienced person there to help you, maybe not. If you've been driving for ten years and you just weren't paying attention and oops you slid into the wall....maybe.
PageRoutine8552@reddit
Maybe? I stopped caring whether other anonymous AI agents on the net consider me a good or bad driver. Besides, everyone thinks everyone else are terrible drives aside from themselves, so I’m already a bad driver, lol.
Look at it this way, depending on context, scratching the garage hasn’t put anyone’s safety at risk. There are worse ways to be a bad driver.
kepenine@reddit
Accidents happen, but more then twice, yeah, same with leople that curb wheels
Geezerglide1@reddit
Yes!
tricksybagginsess22-@reddit
Unforgivable
Dazzling-Rest8332@reddit
Nawww I drive a lot more than the average person. Only accident I ever caused was when I backed my car out of the garage and hit my ex wifes car in the driveway. I forgot she was home that day. Smh.
ImplementLogical4130@reddit
You need to realize controlling your car makes you a good driver, not holding on to your steering wheel at 100 mph
loweexclamationpoint@reddit
You'll probably be one a better driver because you'll check the side clearances next time and all the times after that.
3D-Printing@reddit
Get some of those stick on circular blind spot mirrors, they let you see the (lower half of) the side of your car, lane markings and where you are in the lane/garage. Those really help me to know where my car is, as I can actually see the markings on the road relative to my car.

One off mistakes happen, repeated mistakes are on you
No-Act-7333@reddit
Out of a garage? Yes, bad. It's like you didn't even try.
Auqakid07@reddit
Kinda. Really depends how many times and how often. A couple times in a lifetime, then no. More than once a year, maybe. Twice in a month, yes.
rac1283@reddit
Nope. Makes you human. We all make mistakes.
KittiesRule1968@reddit
More than once? Yes, you're a bad driver.
ArnoldFarquar@reddit
you sure weren’t driving well when you scratched the car
sdk5P4RK4@reddit
you're only as good a driver as the length of time since your last incident.
Glittering-Ad5809@reddit
Let me put it this way. If you can't maneuver a car out of the garage at 1 mph without hitting something, you're not exactly a GOOD driver.
Shot_Rent_1816@reddit
Heck no, if you keep drinking and driving or being on your phone alot while driving does
Ziesyy@reddit
Nope!
Theguyoutthere@reddit
Yes normally
CakesForLife@reddit
Are you trying to settle an argument?
superPlasticized@reddit
You'd be surprised what a bottle of 3M buffing compound can do to clear coat.
Harkers144@reddit
Yes
SpiritedChip508@reddit
yes. it means you either don’t know how big your car is, or youre u aware of your surroundings which is dangerous especially near a home with pets or kids.

Find your local autocross club, that will really help you learn where your car is and you'll get better at driving around things.
Scott43206@reddit
You clip one of your cars with your other car more than once you are a bad driver.
One_Evil_Monkey@reddit
You can't ask that without context. Personally I've never done it, THANKFULLY in 4 decades of driving.
But there's a WHOLE LOT of "maybe" there.
Any scratch could be considered major depending on the car, paint color... what exactly do you think a "scratch" is. (I have an associates degree in autobody restore, repair, refinish, earned in 2000)
Because I've seen people say "All I did was scratch it, can you fix it?" And it turns out they drug the entire left side of the vehicle against the frame of their garage door track. Did it scratch the paint? Yup. Did it cause actual body damage as far as panels along the body crease? Yup. Did it yank the mirror off as they continued to keep backing up? Yup.
It might be light contact but it's all about context.
I've seen personal friends whip into a "2 car" garage that literally isn't big enough to be an actual space for shit barely big enough for mouse to turn around and fart in and clear the entire opening only to hit the drywall with the nose.
Shit happens... SOMETIMES and we're all human. But sometimes you gotta admit... you just suck at driving.
lpg975@reddit
I would be embarrassed, yes lol. I am very paranoid about scratching my cars. I treat the paint very well with wax and ceramic sealant lol.
hightweaks@reddit
Not really. It just shows maybe you should pay more attention to your surroundings. Shit happens and garages can be difficult if you got pull in crooked or wtv. Just learn from it and don’t take the mirror off again. Now pulling out in front of someone makes you a bad driver
Equana@reddit
Yes
4158264146@reddit
It happens. My garage is small and when pulling out I have like 4 inches of clearance. I don't consider myself a bad driver, I'm actually pretty good at it.
DJScaryTerry@reddit
Shit happens, nobody is perfect. As long as you aren't doing it often you're fine.
Fieryassassin32@reddit
It’s an experience just don’t make it into a habit.
mpython1701@reddit
May wife has taken off several mirrors in a tight 2 car garage.
