If this was parked at your apartment building, check your renters or homeowners insurance policy if you have one. Some asshat stole my bike off a 2rd floor balcony and my insurance company paid about 75% of the replacement cost

Catalytic converter robbers have evolved
unseenmover@reddit
what about going thru the bike manufacturer? Bosch may have it set up that any inquires have to go thru them
TopRepulsive4766@reddit
Not sure what you're asking here. I can't see where Bosch could give support regarding a stolen motor. What can they do?
jekkies-@reddit
the post seems to be exclaiming the OP can't get a replacement, like, for money. they aren't asking for a free replacement from Bosch. apparently they can't get Bosch to communicate even selling their dealer a new moyor so they can buy it from the dealer
cookiedanslesac@reddit
So the last option OP has left is to stole a motor from another bike. /s

The cycle of life continues...
stormdelta@reddit
OP is clearly trying to get a replacement motor, and the company is ghosting him despite being willing to pay for one.
It's one of the reasons I really dislike hyper-proprietary systems that intentionally make it difficult for users to fix/repair their own property.
Pixelplanet5@reddit
thats because bosch is not selling their motors to individuals.
he would need to go to a bike shop thats working with bosch to get one installed or ordered.
TopRepulsive4766@reddit
I'm sorry. I guess I'm a bit dense today.
And I totally agree with you on that proprietary crap. Apple is one of my worst enemies in that regard. And boy do I love hacking their stuff and teaching others to do the same.

shoulda went with a chinese middrive
SlashNreap@reddit
The issue is the thief.
But yes, that would've been cheaper.
samthekitnix@reddit
that... that motor was literally RIPPED out of place, that crack head isn't gonna get much for it whole and even less for the raw metal.
5ma5her7@reddit
Actually just scrap metal, because all Bosch motors have component lock, locked motor can't even be used as parts on other bikes.
Salt_Abbreviations_6@reddit
This is a system 2 motor, which does not have component lock...
IronTailFoxCreations@reddit
It would have been easier and less noticeable to use an angle grinder on the lock then it would have been to rip that motor out.
Idek what he plans to do with the motor since its a propristary system
Rude-Possibility4682@reddit
May be able to get a reconditioned motor from a third party. I know a couple of companies in the UK do them, so someone is bound to do them in your country.
beagles4ever@reddit
Should probably carry insurance on an expensive bakfiets like that.
