what is your best advice for a social media manager new to automotive social?

hi everyone, i’m VERY new to the car culture but i’ve recently started working in the automotive space as a social media manager for a vehicle company.
i’m trying to get some better understanding of
- current hot takes in the community
- what brand and models people love or are tired of seeing
- what other resources do car enthusiasts keep up with car culture
- what brands/cars have strong fan bases
- what type of cars tend to perform well on social
i’m trying to understand more of the culture from those who are actually passionate and in it already vs internal reports and data.
anything helps — love to hear everyone’s opinions, insights, resources, hot takes etc.

Honestly, the best advice is to stop trying to be the expert overnight and start learning from the community, fast. Car culture is all about authenticity. You'll figure out the hot takes and fan favorites by actually being in the feeds, not from internal reports. As for performing well, focus on genuine stories and real features, not just spec sheets. That's a full time job on its own. For managing the actual posting grind, I use PostClaw. It handles our social posting so I can spend my time actually engaging with car forums and building community instead of staring at a blank caption box. It's 49 bucks a month, way less than the headache of doing it all manually. What's your biggest struggle right now, creating the content or managing the posting schedule?

Well you would need monitoring tools to check your automotive brand sentiments and mentions. I am new to using social verdict and still exploring it but so far it is helpful in tracking my brand. Btw, it is free to use so you might want to try it as a social media manager

Automotive brands and shops can be ALL over the place. Are you able to share more details about the company? Is it a dealership? Performance shop? Classic cars? Aftermarket manufacturer? Etc. Etc.
I ask as a car guy and automotive media producer.

they sell everything, from classic cars, to regular cars, people can buy P&A or a vehicle. however the social content audience is catered to enthusiasts.

Okay, sounds like you'll have to get deep into car culture quickly. Attend car meets, join brand/modding subreddits, plenty on YouTube. It's going to have to be your life for awhile until you get deep into it.

you have any youtubers in mind that are reputable and respected?
