Would this lantern be a good budget option for emergencies and camping?

I’m looking for a good budget lantern to use in an emergency and that I could also take camping. I found this on Amazon and it seems to be a good option.

Looks decent for the price. Rechargeable is a plus, but check how long it lasts on a full charge. If it’s for emergencies, you want something reliable.

There are kerosene lamps that would work better.
Internal_Raccoon_370@reddit
Why are people downvoting this? Kerosene/oil lamps/lanterns are an entirely viable source of light.
AlphaDisconnect@reddit
Dont get me wrong. Kinda hate em. Kerosene made me sick at boy scout camp once. But I was filling every lamp from here to the next verse.
They burn a little dirty.
Eternal viable? Eh. Still needs kerosene. But have a few mantle on hand just in case. But if those mantle are in tact. Guarantee you could pull out one 100 years old. Just need a match.
I dont like them because worldwide. People use as much kerosene (lets call it jet fuel) for lighting as every airplane flying.
But for hey. Its in the garage. Lights are out. Pull it out until they are on.

Honestly? No.
Get a Wurkkos CL01 if you're on a tight budget and want a lantern. Next best option is a Sofirn LT1S
If you can, get a Wurkkos TS27 if looking for ado-it-all lantern\flashlight.
If looking for a dedicated, high performance, lamp, the Sofirn BLF LT1 is what you want.

I would recommend you check my post about preparing for a Power Outage.

I bought two goal zero crush lantern back in 2021 they are still going strong. While not terribly bright, they are compact, rechargeable.

If you needed something for emergencies or camping can I persuade you into a headlamp?
Just the hands free aspect and can be hung from almost anything if needed.

earlier today I found my coast gx15 and got an hdpe bottle i found and cut a hole for the flashlight head to snugly fit as a diffuser. It actually works really well, so im likely just going to use that.

I had lanterns and stuff out camping a bunch. Just bulky and always needed a free hand for one. Just want your money to be worth it is all. Sounds like you're making good choices.

sorry I didn't mean to sound rude, I just wanted to say that I figured it out, but I appreciate the advice

Didn't come off that way at all. Hope you have a rocking evening.

Speaking from experience the best emergency lanterns of the UST spright. You can get a two pack for 15 bucks they take Triple A's they're bright they will light up most if not half of a room and they're perfect to put in the small spots that you don't realize Are Pitch Black when things really hit the fan.
For the main rooms I have the Streamlight Siege but I don't have a lot of D batteries I much prefer the aaa's so I put Sprights everywhere. Just buy a bunchJust buy a bunch of them. I cannot recommend enough having light in an emergency it is a make or break for your mental condition

Amazon has a "glocusent" brand lantern that is rechargeable and does pretty decent. Has diffent color modes and brighnesses. My kids love them

Is the 200 hour battery life real? And how durable is it
offfhandle@reddit
On low possibly. I left one in a room for week as an ambient light and it never turned off. I have had them run several days during outages. As for durability I can say they should hold up fine. Haven't chucked it across a parking lot but it falls off a counter and crashes just fine
North-Assistant6438@reddit (OP)
So in your experience you would say that it’s a durable and reliable lantern for both camping and emergencies?
offfhandle@reddit
Yea I would say so, I own 6 of them. Only had 1 "fail" but it still works on the low setting only. They give off a good 360 of light and are small enough to carry around in a pocket

alright, thank you

I have a few of these that also charge via solar. They're fine for camping and emergencies.
Seawolfe665@reddit
I prefer Lucci solar / rechargeable lanterns, but the one you have selected is nice because its USB C rechargeable AND can use AA batteries.
G00dSh0tJans0n@reddit
I have some of these which work great and I never have to charge them because they are solar rechargeable. About the same price as the one you're looking at, smaller, and more lightweight. Lower lumen though, but I haven't really needed more than that (or if I do, I use my headlamp): https://www.amazon.com/BioLite-Emergency-Inflatable-Rechargeable-Lantern/dp/B0DTMB7TFY/

I have A few like this, they work rather well especially on low and have a good run time.

I don't think it's the worse but I'd recommend checking out r/flashlight and get something with replacable batteries just to be safe. Nothing worse than your flash light being dead and it's dark out.
North-Assistant6438@reddit (OP)
I think this lantern has both a rechargeable battery and it can take 4 AA batteries too
