Present-Ambition4007@reddit
I would accept this as a $1 palette cleanser
Sullen_Choirboy@reddit
I could only serve this if it’s a free sampler. That’s at most 30g of beef and maybe 20g potato. Unevenly sliced as well. I’m in the food business and while margins are abysmal, i would never put my name behind such a product.
SteveFrench12@reddit
STK is the biggest rip off out there. They do have high quality meat (i worked there) but its insanely over priced and youre mostly paying for the vibe there.
DonutWhole9717@reddit
I worked for a place called Nada in Nashville (before it closed.) Terrible business model, probably some sort of money laundering tbh. It was a terrible few weeks before I quit. But the shitty manager that was there had literally stolen and was using STKs company books
Ok_Matter_2617@reddit
The Nada in Indianapolis was also impressively terrible
DonutWhole9717@reddit
When she decided that Nada was a steakhouse, she brought out a cooked med rare steak. Told us it was going to be like $55. When I asked her why it's $55, she said "have you never served steak before?" "I have. That's why I'm asking you, what cut is it? (it was Ribeye and she couldn't answer something so simple) what grade is it? Where is it sourced? How was it raised and finished?" "It's just a steak." "Then it's just not worth 55." Insane "manager." The one that hired me on quit two weeks after hiring me. He had enough sense to go on somewhere else. I still have his contact and work for him every now and then
twokietookie@reddit
You know its bad when you start weighing the food with the same metric you use to weigh drugs. Yo, lemme get a dime of that veal. I'm fuckin hungry tho, so hook me up with a zone of potatoes. Oh, you got the le buef? I'll take an 8 ball of that too.
Mahogany_75@reddit
Wtfs a zone
sir_moleo@reddit
A zip
Mahogany_75@reddit
Makes sense
twokietookie@reddit
An ounce, 28.5 grams. Also a zip.
kelfupanda@reddit
We just say we're looking for oscar, is he around?
Mahogany_75@reddit
28.2
bllclntn@reddit
Right? Who would ever use grams to weigh anything other than drugs???
notabigmelvillecrowd@reddit
Almost the entire world?
Princess_Slagathor@reddit
The US isn't the whole world? Learn something new everyday.
Immobile-Crustacean@reddit
Lmaooo. To be fair, they could also be non-American where that’s the standard.
Repulsive_Music_6720@reddit
I'm dumb but an eight ball is absolutely not metric. Europeans use metric except the brits who don't measure.
Also, is an eight ball the weight of a pool ball? I know it's not metric but I don't actually what it equates to in normal units.
Immobile-Crustacean@reddit
No an eight ball is imperial system, I was referring to the other commenter measuring food in grams, which is metric
spliced-chum@reddit
3.5 grams= 1/8 of an ounce
Brewmentationator@reddit
an 8 ball is an 8th of an ounce.
twokietookie@reddit
Well aware, that was the joke.
EcLEctiC_02@reddit
Yea but this le buef 20 a g cuh and it's worth it
wolf-in-the-closet@reddit
Not everyone is a stinky american ya'know?
Mtownman345@reddit
Good one bloody wanker.
Sidekick87@reddit
🤣
Outside-Dress594@reddit
There’s a several times more potato than steak
DroidLord@reddit
Some chefs seem to forget that first and foremost food is meant for sustenance. I hate how even our most basic everyday needs get turned into viral fads.
CrimsonOOmpa@reddit
Those are frozen potato wedges from the bag🤣
Novel_Angle7212@reddit
Happy hour prices for sad hour portions
theangryjanitorOG@reddit
You'd never make it in the corporate world. You're a good person.
BreakItEven@reddit
I want to be a nigiri yet im a stake and frites
MeddlinQ@reddit
Happy minute steak frites.
HugeBabies@reddit
If you paid more than 4$ for this Thats insane
rasputinrasputin@reddit
I looked it up.. looks like they’re $9
HugeBabies@reddit
Thats absolutely bananas
Divulsi@reddit
I'm so amused I came by this. I took my father in law to STK in Miami and had a phenomenal experience. My wife and I ended up going to the one in Dallas and had a horrible experience. I'm starting to think we just got lucky first time. Our dallas experience was equally as abysmal as this
SpamPudding@reddit
STK is not a steakhouse but a scamhouse. My mom demanded we go there when we were in vegas for her birthday and it was absolute garbage. Over $100 for the most rubbery god awful lobster tail I had ever seen.
Wagyu steak that was very clearly some low grade crap they. Really nice 80's "let's do cocaine" vibe if you feel like cosplaying Scarface for a night but that's it.
realquickquestion96@reddit
Its an instagram restaurant. The food is terrible and overpriced. Also, I suspect they pad their Google reviews. I was suckered into going to one in Chicago a few years back, I had never heard of them before and I was looking for a steak place to eat last minute. They had a 4.9 with something like 10 thousand reviews and the food we got was Applebees quality lol.
dirtyshits@reddit
Yupp. Ordered picanha at their SF location and out came a steak with no fat cap and definitely not a picanha but 3 different people came to me to assure me that it was a picanha.
I used to own a butcher shop, it was no picanha. I just sucked it up since I didn’t want to be a downer(dining out with 2 other couples).
Mid tier food at best.
Encrypted_Curse@reddit
100%. The review manipulation for their Boston location is so blatant.
alli_gator_@reddit
I will only go to the STK in Disney Springs Orlando for brunch. Their $10 breakfast burger is the only thing worth a damn.
Their prices are absolutely insane for dinner and there's literally hundreds of better options
MediocreDot3@reddit
Now that you mention it - that's probably the most food I could consume myself if I was on a coke binge so now the portion makes sense
JTblademoney@reddit
Burn it to the ground.
Impressive-Shake1710@reddit
Dude, I went to the one in la some years back, while the food was pretty good I could not fathom the bill for two people and no drinks. The mandatory valet for like 45 bucks was a bummer. The random dj really killed the vibe of going to a fancy steak house.
theweekendwolf@reddit
Fancy boy dinner
SlipperyGibbet@reddit
That’ll be $45
sofers1941@reddit
Dont forget the automatic gratuity and service fee, + tip on top. $68 with first table discount. Got a beverage that isn't coffee or water? That'll be $14.
Zealousideal_Ad2379@reddit
i hate american tip culture so much
JGSR-96@reddit
If I get good service you get a good tip, if I get shit service sorry about your luck.
Awsimical@reddit
Honestly, a lack of warning from the server that the steak frit is a scam is enough to warrant rescinding the tip imo. Server is complicit in the scam, and thats not tip worthy service.
Princess_Slagathor@reddit
If the boss finds out they told you that, they're going to get fired. If there's anything that isn't a scam, strongly recommend that instead. If not, they chose to eat there.
BigZangief@reddit
-sorry about your service*
PM_ME_ACID_STORIES@reddit
If it is a coffee it'll be $6.
They used several cents worth of bulk-purchased Lavazza brand beans.
They have sugar packets, sweeteners, and coffemate brand non-dairy product on the table. Not even an option for milk, half and half, vegan milks.
Six dollars.
It took them 3 minutes to prepare it.
10001110101balls@reddit
The main steak frites course at this restaurant is $54 for 350g of strip steak. This one is $9 for about 75g on happy hour. It's not a terrible deal even though the presentation is comical.
still_challin@reddit
Except that’s maybe 30g of steak
boothin@reddit
And it looks like the same wedges I can get from my grocery's hot bar for like $3/lb lol
MrD3a7h@reddit
Maybe the restaurant industry deserves to die.
Rumpledforesk1n@reddit
Cook every single meal forever for the rest of your life. Go ahead.
MrD3a7h@reddit
I am. But not by choice.
10001110101balls@reddit

Lopsidedlopside@reddit
I’m not paying for that lol. If that isn’t free to get me to try it, can just take it the fuck back.

This is the abominable love child of shrinkflation and enshitification.

I get JoJo's for $3.99 a pound at the deli, and that comes with a couple dips.
nodisintegrations420@reddit
What's that
Gimmemyspoon@reddit
A wedge fry. I've only heard them called jojos in the NW.
quantum-quetzal@reddit
I worked in a deli in MN for a few years. At least half of our customers called them jojos.
rubber__soul@reddit
grew up in MN, can confirm jojos
Gimmemyspoon@reddit
I had never heard them called that until living in Oregon/Washington. Good to know it isn't PNW specific!
Does anyone know where the term came from?
Ballsofpoo@reddit
It's a made up name for what to do with undesirable potatoes
Gimmemyspoon@reddit
I found the difference! Jojos usually have a slight garlic-y flour based breading, whereas regular potato wedges don't have any breading. The pre-seasoned ones are where it gets complicated to differentiate I guess.
ThellraAK@reddit
Potatoe wedges can still be seasoned and dusted.
Godfather's Pizza does it for instance.
BurmeciaWillSurvive@reddit
"chicken and jojos" here in Idaho, as well. Back east no one knew what I meant.
Dub_stebbz@reddit
I also call them jojos and I’m in New England
Hot-Ad2761@reddit
in oregon they're jojos
notabigmelvillecrowd@reddit
Weird. Go a little further north and they're mojos.
aspidities_87@reddit
Chicken and jojos down at the Plaid
Ulti@reddit
Man, all the Plaid Pantries up in WA closed down like 25+ years ago, but that place ruled.
Gimmemyspoon@reddit
I went to college in Oregon. So beautiful! I plan to bring my east coast husband there soon... West coast is the Best coast!
ValhallaAir@reddit
Where I’m from we call them potato jeremys
angomeowmeow@reddit
WHERE THE FUCK ARE YOU FROM? (/ref)
FreudianAccordian@reddit
Jojo Simmons?
Subbie1013@reddit
We had Shakey’s when I was a kid and they had mojo jojos. They were sliced horizontally. I miss them so much
RiverRunsBlueHydra@reddit
I just woke up, not wearing glasses. I saw a Muppet wearing a green vest, pink head band, white bowtie, playing a clarinet
Hamsammichd@reddit
STK is such a weird spot. Kind of felt like an Atlantic City club, rather than upscale dining. It seemed like it was catering to rich people in their twenties, rather than serving good food. I remember people walking around handing out shots. I was wondering if the shot was going to be on my bill because it just seemed so out of place.
Bender_Rodriguez30@reddit
Gimme a slice, I guess
Bender_Rodriguez30@reddit
Wtf is this?
cracquelature@reddit
Mf place called mf STK. we’ve lost the thread and whoever named this place deserves their IBS
LatterParty182@reddit
The plating ain’t plating

I mean, this is just what sushi looks like to me.
CoryTrevorson42@reddit

BugsyMcNug@reddit
That is a really stupid plate.
eikelmann@reddit
Average STK experience
witecat1@reddit
Whatever you paid, you paid too much.
Drclaw411@reddit
How did we as a society normalize expensive ass restaurants giving the smallest portions possible?
Dirac3974@reddit
stk randomly sells a cheeseburger and chips for $9.99 … pairs well with a $24 side of asparagus
BlackHandKUR@reddit
That’s a slice of steak on a McCain sweet potato wedge
Healthy-Confection66@reddit
Ain’t anything happy about this lol
adamantitian@reddit
Sample size is what it is
Yodzilla@reddit
Steak frites is almost always a bad deal anyway. This is just insulting.
Nearby-Swimming-5103@reddit
Probably $40 too, at least.
Micalas@reddit
This is shitpost level of hilarious.
AppUnwrapper1@reddit
How much did you pay for those 3 bites of food?
Classic-Exchange-511@reddit
That's gotta be a really cheap app or possibly a sampler to make it worth it
bookworm1999@reddit
Those potato wedges are 100% the cheap ones you can buy at walmart
thejustice32@reddit
STK in Chicago is fucking awful.
consumeshroomz@reddit
Technically correct. I see steak. And I see frites. Just not in the proportions one would expect/desire.
Antique_Trash3360@reddit
$9?? Are those carrots? WTAF? I wonder how depressing the rest of those $9 items are.
whosthatintheredhat@reddit
Potato wedges
bruh-momentonumero2@reddit
The exact ones I get at Walmart
Smurf-Happens@reddit
and likely prepackaged frozen ones by the look of it.
ofbrightlights@reddit
Yeah they look like the kind in my kids lunches 🫠
Lakonthegreat@reddit
I see these ones with ridges all the time in the hot bar of the gas stations I go to.
Smurf-Happens@reddit
Pretty sure they're also the same ones or similar to the ones Walmart and KFC use to use. I can tell you after 15 years in food service that shitty breading is a big giveaway lol
puff_of_fluff@reddit
Yup, those are sidewinder fries from disco
AFisfulOfPeanuts@reddit

PM_Me_Your_Deviance@reddit
You know, this would actually be great if it were like $2 and part of a Tapas experience.
Rymanjan@reddit
That's the sound of me walking out on the bill lol you know that shit cost like $15.99 too
Aggravating_Block_55@reddit
Wow I almost went there two days ago and would have ordered the same thing! What a joke
snootboopr@reddit
Those look identical to Winco potato wedges 🧐

GlassJoe32@reddit

lordberric@reddit
Y'all, it' a $9 app at a fancy steakhouse. Now, I've never been there and I'm sure it's overprice and just leveraging the brand, but this isn't the most ridiculous thing in the world. Lets calm down.
Relative_Yesterday70@reddit
wtf at least sprinkle some green shit on that to cover up that mess. Probably a decent piece of meat still but sloppy. Those are seasoned wedge fries from a major food supplier. I had them at my cooking job.
Zizhou@reddit
Seriously, even a single chive would be enough to cover that.
Alarmed_War3087@reddit
Bro I’d return that right away wtf is that
albinorhino215@reddit

FleetChief@reddit
Not hippies no Hippy in the history of hippydom would serve something this small.

Don’t go to the “Artistic Fancy Experience Restaurant” if you don’t want an artistic fancy experience and instead want to actually have a generic filling meal.
Tricky-Signature3806@reddit
Lmaoo come on dude, stop trying to be rich man. Go to a place where they will give you a big slab of beef worth less than that.
