Not a trucker, but I live in Alabama. Every time my neighbor down the street comes home he parks like this in the middle of the street because he doesn't want to pay for parking.

We are starting to think he does it on purpose. He brings the full 18 wheeler and just sits it there. I already don't get along with him so I can't say anything to him, but it has been too many times where cars have almost collided because someone trying to leave out, while someone else is turning.
At this point, i don't know what to do.
Round-Guarantee4948@reddit
This is why I just got a log cabin outside the city. Too many f$#@ing entitled, inconsiderate, pieces of shit neighbors parking their GD trailers, boats, RVs all up and down the damn street. F$#@ that shit. Now, I have 40 acres all around me with NO neighbors and no eyesores.
xoutlawtrucker@reddit
This is the way. Fuck neighbors, the HOA, and code enforcement! I have myself a nice set-up as well where there is 0 bullshit. Home is your castle and if you want to build a moat and fill it with snakeheads, so be it.
TouristEquivalent181@reddit
LOL Snakeheads?
xoutlawtrucker@reddit
They make piranha look like kittens. But my wife made me kill them all because they ate a cat (Feral), and a family of Canadian geese. And they were really expensive to feed. They are illegal, and if I relocated them I could have gotten into huge trouble. I felt bad, they were fun and like my pets, but having a pond with them is super dangerous.
derpmcturd@reddit
Ay my man, hit that Google Maps icon on your phone. Type in "truck towing", call the closest one to you. Bet you any money he doesnt park there again after seeing the $1500 bill. Problem solved.
Jondiesel78@reddit
Towing a truck off a public road privately is called grand theft.
Nero-Danteson@reddit
Not really, they'll know if he can or can't be there.
Jondiesel78@reddit
No reputable towing company will tow a truck off a public road without a police order to do it.
Nero-Danteson@reddit
My point. They can call the police to get whatever info they need
Jondiesel78@reddit
The resident or the tow truck operator can call the police and get an order for it to be towed. They can not call the tow truck and have it towed themselves. The police have to call the tow company with whom they have a contract.
yeah-no-yeah-no@reddit
Exactly, there’s a high likelihood there’s a city or county no trucks parking along city streets like that ordinance. Tow company will definitely know if there was
hunni93@reddit (OP)
The police are on the way. They said not only is it dangerous, it is illegal
losteye_enthusiast@reddit
Hell yeah OP!
That’s the correct way to handle it. It’s not on you to convince the neighbor. It’s part of your police/local parking enforcement to ensure roadways are kept usable and safe. They’ll set him straight and you don’t have to deal with a neighbor you’ve said is hard to talk to.
Jondiesel78@reddit
The police can order it towed. If a private citizen does, it is theft.
3amGreenCoffee@reddit
Ha ha no. I had a roam towing company illegally tow my car right out of a paid parking space, then lie about where it was, then claim it was a different color and didn't match their info on what car was supposed to be there. As soon as the cops heard "towing company," they refused to get involved. Towing companies have a license that allows them to take vehicles illegally and fraudulently without it being considered theft, and the cops treat it as a civil matter and won't do anything.
The only time they ever get prosecuted is when a DA or AG running for reelection gets a bunch of complaints and decides to make an example. Nobody will do a damned thing about a single truck being towed.
JerrysKidsOnLot@reddit
Since tow companies usually work hand in hand with LE, they can just easily call the offense in, in order to generate the service.
TacoHimmelswanderer@reddit
Know the laws before you suggest stuff like this. If you see someone illegally parked and want to get them towed you need to contact the property owner or police and have them handle it other wise if the tow company shows up and actually takes the vehicle you’re the one who’s gonna be on the hook for that bill not the vehicle owner.
andre3kthegiant@reddit
Parking an 18 wheeler, in a cul-de-sac, is against the law, since this does not allow enough room for an emergency vehicle to utilize the area for a u-turn.
TacoHimmelswanderer@reddit
It might be against the law but guess what unless you’ve got a badge you can’t enforce in the law and if you go taking the law into your own hands you’re the one that’s gonna be dealing with the consequences.
andre3kthegiant@reddit
That’s why OP called the non emergency line of the local authorities.
Independent_Leg7358@reddit
Yeah because emergency vehicles have to do u turns at dead end streets a lot...
andre3kthegiant@reddit
Turns out, I was wrong, it’s is actually a cross street, so this trucker is completely in the wrong.
DrillTheThirdHole@reddit
oh it would be quite a lot more than 1500
WallaWallaby011@reddit
I'd be different if he was just parking his bobtail home.. but the truck and trailer is taking up the ENTIRE cul-de-sac! Yeah he shouldn't be allowed to do that.
hunni93@reddit (OP)
He's all the way by the stop sign sign. Several of us are sick of it.
ShotBRAKER@reddit
Traffic enforcement can give him a ticket for parking to close to the stop sign and possibly another for blocking it depending how close he is
NJPokerJ@reddit
What exactly have y'all done about it?
-slaps-username-@reddit
exactly, like this is entirely not legal. idk what the fine would be but probably enough to not do it again
NJPokerJ@reddit
He/she hasn't actually said any of the things they've done to try to end this. Unless I'm missing it. You'd think a call to the cops would be enough. It's almost like he saw the truck parked there once and thought, this is a great opportunity to post on reddit.
hunni93@reddit (OP)
If you read another comment I just said I made the call to 311 and he told me to call the police. He's being reported.
NJPokerJ@reddit
Ok. Honestly, I looked for that before posting the comment. Might be a good idea to put that in the title or something. Ok so the police are in the job.
hunni93@reddit (OP)

bulldog1027@reddit
Call code enforcement. He is to close to a stop sign, an intersection as well as many places have big rig restrictions.
Emergency_Ad1152@reddit
Is he parked in the corner of the street too? Damn, I park home but this is messed up.
hunni93@reddit (OP)
Yes, he is right at the corner and has refused to move it.
KoreanTrucking@reddit
I wouldnt approach the person imo. If he lacks any care to park like this, he might be someone you dont want to get involved with. Maybe have a neighbor come with just in case? Or yea just call the cops if it is a nuisance to everybody.

The police are on the way

They never came to the door for the police. They house has been swatted for drugs frequently. My neighbor is going to reach out to city council today and do another report.
3 weeks ago was their 4th time getting swatted and so I knew that he wasn't coming outside. Cause he does cocaine when he comes in.
So today my neighbor is doing what she going to do and ill be looking for a tow company.
TouristEquivalent181@reddit
You could call DOT and report the cocaine usage. I hate to be a narc, but I personally wouldn't want to be on the road with someone all high on coke.
hunni93@reddit (OP)
It's always been his choice of drug. When they house got kicked in about 3 months ago, they found a bag of cocaine in his wallet then he hurried and left town
TouristEquivalent181@reddit
Sounds like he could use some help. That's sad. I hope there's no kids in there.
hunni93@reddit (OP)
Off and on. The mom won't put them out because she benefits from the drug money. So she just keep letting all this happen. She even sells cigarettes and swishers while on ssdi. They still think they above the law unfortunately

Oh yea, no I completely agree with what you said. 😅
yeah-no-yeah-no@reddit
Sounds like someone is gonna walk out to his truck one morning and not realize a little birdie pulled his kingpin last night.
Based off his lack of professionalism revealed so far, I’m pretty certain this driver doesn’t do pre-trips either.
leadpoem@reddit
Na, just go take a tire valve stem tool and unscrew every valve stem half way. He'll come out to 18 flat tires. It will probably take him a second to figure out that the valve stems need to be screwed back in. What are chances he happens to have a valve stem tool lying around?
Plus nothing was damaged and nothing was taken LOL.
nortyflatz@reddit
Vandalizing isn't the smart thing to do.
timmer2500@reddit
I'd go a step further.. Super glue the shit out of them and then glue them back in. That way you can air them back up and have to replace the stem. My circle of friends would do this to each other years ago as a prank until TPS's were in everything.
Codexe-@reddit
This is such a dangerous thing to do. Stop suggesting that. This career is not for joking around about things like that.
yeah-no-yeah-no@reddit
Didn’t suggest it. Merely was my hypothesis of what sounds like could happen based on what happens to some drivers who do outrageously dumb selfish stuff and unfortunately piss off the wrong dude.
This career is filled with non-stop jokes, are you kidding me. How in the hell would we all survive without jokes out here. What are you some type of weirdo that hates going to comedy shows and laughing. You hate laughing?!!
Psychological_Ad_963@reddit
Before you call the cops call the company.
Cool_Algae4265@reddit
Police will call the company… assuming the company information is on the truck.
I’ve had that happen to me, not like this, I was parked across the street from my house overnight on a little pull-off thing which I’ve never seen anyone use and apparently the “railroad can’t share a bit of their property” 🙄 /s
Dispatcher called me, said it was slated to be towed so I moved it, that was my bad
GumbysDonkey@reddit
Call the city
mrockracing@reddit
Why doesn't he park on the side right there? Just being a dick?
ResidentComplaint19@reddit
What we need is another truck to go down there for a delivery and lay on the horn because the trucks parked in a bad spot.
Aggravating-Ideal-56@reddit
Delivery to a house? Oh ok lmao
biggtenfour@reddit
Shhh! Nobody tell him. More LTL for the rest of us.
Aggravating-Ideal-56@reddit
A) I don’t haul garbage van trailers you can have all that non paying junk and B) when the fuck does an 18 wheeler deliver LTL to a residents house?
hereforpopcornru@reddit
I know UPS wouldn't. My home based business had a small skid of PC's delivered via UPS freight I didn't have a dock door. Which I told them, so I had them hold it at the hub. I went and picked it up
Chevy Tahoe then, didn't have the lift gate on the back had two side by sides that swung open. Laid the seats down and they forklift loaded it to my cargo area
Atomic_meatballs@reddit
I had a large toolbox delivered to my house via LTL freight. Driver had a shorter one axle trailer which he backed right into my driveway and used the liftgate to unload the toolbox and a pallet jack to bring it into my garage.
CrashingTiger@reddit
Me. I do that. That's a thing. Just because you haven't seen it doesn't mean it's not happening.
vet_callco@reddit
Me. I work for a landscaping company and I drive the 18 wheeler flatbed in residential area everyday. Also carry the mac lift on the trailer. I deliver grass, bricks, stone and other material.
I did get pulled over today by a city cop cause he was wondering what I was doing. Just showed him the delivery ticket and was let go.
Aggravating-Ideal-56@reddit
Yeah not the same thing. That is a small little trailer with a day cab truck that ain’t a 53’ van trailer with a truck with a sleeper on it backing up to no dock at someone’s house lol
Unfair_Fisherman_605@reddit
Pitch a bitch to the city and the PD maybe they can get him to move it or get it towed. After a tow bill i guarantee he would not do that again.

xoutlawtrucker@reddit
That is just wrong. I am guessing he parks that way so he theoretically isnt "directly in front of someone else's house" if I had to get out my encyclopedia of retarded trucker logic. But blocking a cul-de-sac is just as bad. I get it that truck parking can be expensive, and its inconvenient to have your 'house" away from your house for a multitude if reasons. But selfishness holds no bounds when it comes to the new generation of truck drivers. They are lazy, single minded, and put themselves above everyone and everything else. I would leave a note, tell him to drop the trailer somewhere and keep the bobtail on his driveway or yard if he has such major separation anxiety from his 35k lb mistress.

gonewildaway@reddit

Washedhockeyguy@reddit
Yea that’s outrageous and eye sore to you and the other home homeowners on the street. You should call the police and just say “there’s an 18 wheeler blocking traffic on my street”
hunni93@reddit (OP)
Thank you for chiming in. I really think he does this on purpose. I was trying to get his company truck name on the side and license plate. This is going to get someone hurt. All because he is too cheap to pay to park at a truck stop.
SaigaExpress@reddit
He doesnt have to park it at a truck stop, but he really shouldn’t be parking it in the middle of the road like that.
Independent_Leg7358@reddit
There's no curb, more of a concrete ditch.
Either he's legally parked and it's none of anyone's business. Or he's not. If you really feel like being a snitch then you call parking enforcement.
brakos@reddit
A tow bill is a lot more than paying for parking, might be a good lesson for him to learn... just saying.
Aggravating-Ideal-56@reddit
Tow trucks can’t come and tow this truck because a neighbor is upset about it. 🤷🏻♂️
Ornery_Ads@reddit
This looks like someone parking on a quiet dead end street. How is someone going to get hurt by this? On street parking is common.
hunni93@reddit (OP)
He is right by the stop sign as well. You may not think it's a big deal but it's been too many times people almost have an accident. You have people turning in and the people leaving have to go around his truck.
Sir-Nicholas@reddit

RedGhostOrchid@reddit
Many truckers make shit money and parking for trucks is getting ever more expensive as land owners and companies who profit from them jack their prices up as much as they can. That being said, the solution is not to park a rig on a suburban street.
Have you just tried to talk to him? I'd hate to see him get his truck towed. That's going to be so much money for him and could cost him his job. :/ Is there a way to go about this that solves the issue without negatively impacting his livelihood?
driver004@reddit
If he was making an attempt to get as out of the way as possible I might agree with you more, but this is on it’s face wrong and he knows it.
I live in the middle of the city and I had the where to put a rig problem for a while and I figured life out, so can he. This is a call the cops for the obstructed roadway and be done with it case.
RedGhostOrchid@reddit
Well I disagree with you. Having made mistakes in life myself, I try to err on the side of kindness rather than retribution.
driver004@reddit
There is no aspect of retribution, it’s a matter of enforcing reasonable order so that the rights of everyone in the community are respected.
RedGhostOrchid@reddit
Yes, there is. The OP has two choices: use his annoyance to tell on the neighbor to the cops and watch the driver get in legal trouble over it, including possibly losing his livelihood or talk to the neighbor and hopefully get it resolved with mutual satisfaction. I'm offering a different take than the usual vitriol posted on the internet: The "fuck 'em, too bad" variety. If you're not interested, fine. But not every one of us feels the need to make life worse for other people just because we're annoyed.
driver004@reddit
Its already been established that talking is not an option, and I would say it’s not even a requirement. The parking is clearly against the law and is causing a disturbance in the community. If you say that the equal enforcement of the rules is vitriolic then I’d want to know why this drivers rights matter more and are greater than everyone else’s.
So far as livelihood goes, that’s the drivers responsibility alone and if he loses it through his own willful actions than the only cause he can find in a mirror.
Turk_Sanderson@reddit
Kinda sounds like the man to me?

Might not bring any parking within walking distance, truck drivers are not rich, contrary to a popular belief.
losteye_enthusiast@reddit
That’s not the community’s hardship to bear though.
He was free to pursue whatever career he wanted. Ain’t on his neighbors to absorb his cost of parking not being near.
And none of us think truck drivers are rich ;). It’s a field that’s been heavily discouraged to go into for decades lmao
deliverance_62@reddit
What is he hurting ? Why do yall have to be such an ass ? Not only would he have to pay for parking but someone would have to take him and pick him up every time. Yall must be democrats.
Outlaw_Trucker@reddit
It's not safe or legal to park like a jackets. Only a jackets tries to throw politics into every situation too.
losteye_enthusiast@reddit
Contact the local sheriff/police and ask about your options. Check with the local council about parking rules and follow through.
Own and operate whatever you want, but not at the expense of making a neighborhood less safe. Especially not at the expense of making someone else’s paid and expected experience in their own neighborhood markedly worse.
Wizard_with_a_Pipe@reddit
Not sure why you would bring the trailer home. We're only supposed to bring the bobtail home. There has been a time or two when my clock ran out and I didn't have time to take the trailer to the drop yard so I parked behind the grocery store by the house until I got my clock back but that's because I am friends with the store manager and he knew how to get ahold of me if he had to.
Outlaw_Trucker@reddit
Some of us bring our loads home with us during home time so we just leave from the house afterwards. I can't imagine ever thinking it would be ok to park like this guy, though. If you can't safely park it off public roadways you need to find somewhere else.

DamnedHeathen_@reddit
Yeah, that's entirely unacceptable. I'm buying a house that's in a neighborhood now, and I can't take my truck home. I parked at the TA on the other side of town and get an Uber whenever I come home. You can't block an entire cul-de-sac and half the street just to go home. We may do that every now and then on a delivery, but it's because the business is built that way and we're gone in an hour or two. Taking a couple days like that, absolutely not.
serenityfalconfly@reddit
Is there a better place to park on the street that isn’t in the way?
Talk to the neighbors letting him park there instead.
If he refuses after you or some other neighbor that gets along with him explains the concerns and solutions they have with him.
Then proceed with other suggestions to get him to park it elsewhere.
Money is tight and driving big rigs ain’t easy.

Ive known people who've gotten in trouble for having a truck with no trailer on their driveway , not even a public road. Im a little baffled as to why this is a repeated thing. This is easy tickets for cops.
hunni93@reddit (OP)
They are on the way now to deal with it because it's dangerous. I kept saying if someone got into a head on due to this then who is actually responsible for the accident.
FatCrusher9000@reddit
Good. Now every time you see this you know what to do. Also NEVER engage with him about it and never let him know it's you. If you asks, deny everything. Sooner or later he learns. If not, at least it gonna cost him some troubles and money ❤️ Each time.

Is there no other spot on that stretch of road which he can park? So if he had somewhere behind a house or someshit he could get by without annoying the crap out of all of yall
Fun_Huckleberry_8290@reddit
Am I looking at this picture wrong? Why is the trailer behind the little white fence, but the tractor is on the other side of it? If it is a cul-de-sac, then it's not a thru street and he isn't impeding the flow of traffic. Is the truck blocking your drive or house? Just looking for clarification?
ZacDidntDoit@reddit
And here I am feeling bad I had to park my bobtail on the side of my neighbors yard 5 houses down. 😮💨

when you whine you have to provide a hi-res picture, or better than this . . and then provide views from different angles and state where does it affect you, looks like you are worried about 'someone' hitting someone else
WarmWriter1542@reddit
Looks ai to me. You said 18 wheeler so that means trailer included. Where his truck is parked is already at the end of the street so that means he's blocking the road behind him and part of the trailer is on the property behind it. If you look at that trailer it has no wheels. Part of it has disappeared, now that could be a building but it disappears behind the truck and there's half of vehicle on the left.
Keystone75@reddit
According to Alabama Code § 32-5A-137, it is illegal to park, stop, or stand a vehicle within 30 feet upon the approach to any stop sign, yield sign, or traffic-control signal located at the side of a roadway. This ensures visibility for traffic approaching the intersection and signs.

Bylaw enforcement typically deals with this stuff. If they need to they will get the police involved, but usually they get it cleared up quickly. Bylaw doesn't get much call volume around here so when they do get a call they are on it lickety split.

No_Individual1336@reddit
That looks like a dead end. Is that a public or a private road? The distinction matters.
There are a lot of trucks that do this in Alabama, especially lower Alabama. Unfortunately most of the ones you will see are parked on private roads that while the city can technically enforce some violations, such as criminal speeding or the like, they may be at a loss to enforce parking statues without the backing of the property owner to do so.
I'm not sure if all states even have private roads, but Alabama is full of them, and many of them are fully painted and maintained by the city, but are technically owned by a private entity. Not even sure how that works legally, but then again, Alabama is a mess.
yeah-no-yeah-no@reddit
Is there a company name and DOT # on his truck at all? Just wondering if he’s a company driver, you could contact the company he drives for about this issue.
Unhappy-River6306@reddit
I think it's illegal for CMV to park in neighborhoods isn't it? Unless they have sign that says " not for hire" they can get a ticket or if the cop is feeling like an asshole, towed.
Otherwise, cut him some slack. If it's hard for a 4 wheeler to find parking, now picture how hard it would be for a truck to find parking. Now think about how much it cost for a 4 wheeled vehicle to pay for parking and multiply that for a tractor with a trailer. Imagine having 2 vehicles and different places when you can just use one vehicle to get from point A to point B. Unless he's blocking the road and making it dangerous, let him be

People usually don't respond well to confrontation but if you or your neighbors feel like you need to talk with him, offer solutions, not demands. I've taken hometime in a few towns with absolutely no truck stops. My way of handling it was to call the city/town hall and the police department and ask where they would like me to park. They're usually helpful if a little busy and if they can't help you they can point you towards someone who can.

If he is a company driver contact his company so that he can adhere to safe parking If he’s an owner op I would contact parking enforcement or DOT especially since he’s parked in such a way that is obstructing traffic and viewing any hazards
King0Horse@reddit
It's the end of the cul-de-sac. He doesn't seem to be blocking any driveways.
Go back to bed, Karen.
MotherTrucker9@reddit
It isn't a cul-de-sac it's a stop sign at the end of the road.

Thank you!

Ok I get your mad because hes parked in a bad spot, but is he bothering you? Is he blocking YOUR driveway. Is it just an eye sore? Are you the hoa president? Are you just mad because he is somewhere he isn't supposed to be? You said you arent a truck driver so how could you possibly understand. Ill give you that.
Yes hes lazy and should probably pay for a legit spot for many reasons. Truck drivers are literally the back bone of any country. Our job is absolutey grueling. Finding parking can be a huge challenge. Maybe he has a wife and kids that he wants to be closer to instead of paying for parking, because hes on the road all week. Maybe the only paid parking is spot is too expensive of too far from the house to make it worth it after a 70 hour work week.
If hes not bothering your directly...stay in your lane... leave him alone.... and dont call the cops... thats a dick move.

Did you not read where it's MULTIPLE neighbors complaining. I just made a call and they said him being parked is not only illegal but it's dangerous as well.
Arth3r911@reddit
Enough reports and this will stop.
Player2orNot@reddit
I understand your frustration. But honestly it doesn’t seem like a real hazard. It just looks out of place in a residential neighborhood. But give the man some grace. Everyone consumes but dislikes the trucks that deliver their products. He may be doing the best he can and paid parking for a semi and trailer ain’t cheap. Since you two don’t get along just tape a note on driver side window asking nicely to park closer to curb.
ConnectionTiny1599@reddit
Guranteed he’s they type of driver who complains about everything but no rules apply to him
Gandlerian@reddit
Call the police. There is zero chance that is legal. Maybe the bobtail, but full bobtail and trailer on that small street, no....
Joecephus904@reddit
Meh. 4 out 10 for the rage bait. Leave that man and his truck alone.
hunni93@reddit (OP)
If you think this rage bait then okay. We all have kids that ride in our vehicles. If someone ends up with a head on collision then I guess that will be rage bait too. Have a good day 😊
TypicalRecon@reddit
Bobtail and stuffing it on the curb is one thing... this is just stupid.
baltbum@reddit
If you all would stop buying stuff, he wouldn't be parked there.
tvieno@reddit
Yeah? So. And?
