I'd love to have a 45 inch 5k2k non-oled option that can do both productivity and gaming without having to worry about burn-ins.

I wish Tim had access to one or two mini LED ultrawides. The market is completely dominated by OLEDs it's insane. Especially in the ultrawide space where productivity should be considered, such as burn-in prevention and built-in KVM switches. I would personally like a quality non-OLED monitor with a built-in KVM switch for my personal PC and my work laptop.
I have been desperately searching for reviews on monitors like the TCL 34R83Q (highly regarded by some owners) and the old AOC AG344UXM (only proper review I've read is from TFT Central) but they simply haven't had enough exposure in the monitor market. Both have useful features like USB-C PD charging and a KVM switch.
A single ultrawide setup strikes a good balance between immersive gaming and productivity. It's such a shame the mini LED tech hasn't caught on in this particular market.

Miniled is complete ass.
-still trash response times so still unusable motion clarity
still low contrast just not as cartoonishly low as previous backlight methods
extremely prone to breaking in the short term ( plenty of tests on tft central) so they are all planned obsolescence e waste)
still fucking sample and hold so useless in motion at anything below 120 fps
Miniled is the perfect example of the faster horse fallacy. Let lcd panels go, they are fundamentally useless for anything other than displaying a static image due to the way the pixels function. Any lcd panel only belongs on a digital menu screen in a fastfood restaurant, thats it

Have you personally tested or owned the two monitors I specified? Or are you just generalising from limited information that every single mini LED monitor is crap? It’s either one of these two ultrawides or the 4K mini LED 32 inch Neo G7 as my next monitor.
My current monitor is an OLED and I work on it as well as game. There is definitely some risk involved with OLEDs regarding static content. I’d rather not deal with the risk anymore.

It *is* specifically titled gaming Ultrawides to be fair.

I don't know why but I really don't feel like buying an expensive OLED just to have Excel burn away on it. I was searching for a Monitor last year and the choice for non-OLEDs is abysmal. I've went with the LG 38br85qc because I was looking for something with more than 34 inch and the Dell 40" Ultrawide was almost double the cost

Would recommend watching a few burn in videos on YouTube. Optimum has a few with 3500+ hours of use for gaming and productivity and the burn is negligible and unnoticeable under real usage co dictions.

That 39" 5120x2160 tandem OLED is my dream monitor; hopefully it goes on sale soon on the LG partner store.

10k4k is the dream

My only hang up is it isn't glossy. I guess I'll wait another year before I move from my G9 oled.
ThankGodImBipolar@reddit
That and it being 165hz. I don't think the MSRP is necessarily unfair, but for 1800 USD, it needs to be everything that I want from a monitor today, and I would get 240hz in any other format. I can still envision myself buying this panel eventually, but I'm going to wait for a significant sale before I blow so much money on a monitor.
the_necriss@reddit
Yeah it's wild to me Samsung has the 57 g9 running a higher res years ago at 240hz. I'd buy it today if it was but 165 is a tough sell for that price.
suparnemo@reddit
Alienware AW3926QW will hopefully be that
RummoLiguori@reddit
Make it glossy and 240hz and it would be for me too.

I wish it was a requirement to have written articles alongside the video. it takes so much longer to consume a video than it does an article with the same content.

With the press of a button you can get an AI summary

and i wish money grew on trees
binarypie@reddit
sure and i wish i had more time in the day. there is a balance here of course.
laxounet@reddit
Youtube provides a transcript, doesn't it ?
wpm@reddit
Yeah with no paragraphs or inline photos.
laxounet@reddit
Don't get me wrong, I also prefer written articles.
Stingray88@reddit
Written articles just get vacuumed up by AI now. Hence why sites like Rtings are going paywall. Doing the same for video is a lot more prohibitively expensive for now… it’ll probably get wrecked in the future as well.
Radiant-Fly9738@reddit
They usually publish their reviews on techspot so check over there, maybe there's a written article on this.
binarypie@reddit
thanks

I wish I saw what these companies are seeing with ultrawides, but I just find them so annoying with how few of my games support it out of the box, and I don't want to be tinkering with everything anymore to get basic, if not janky support.
Yet all the best new monitors come out in ultrawide first usually, and ultrawides are also for some reason priced very well compared to 16:9 models where I live.
Swoly_Deadlift@reddit
I really wish Samsung’s 57” dual 4K would get an OLED version.
namir01@reddit
34 is the sweetspot for me
vlakreeh@reddit
Same, I'm super bummed that the 5k2k 34" that was on LGs roadmap didn't launch. I'm holding out on a first gen QD oled but I'm getting increasingly tempted to just buy 2x 4k QD oleds.
Coreantes@reddit
Wait, wasn’t that LG announced this week? The 5k2k 34”?
TheDreadfulSagittary@reddit
No, it has not been announced yet. Maybe you got it confused with their 45" version refresh, which did get announced recently.
Z3r0sama2017@reddit
I'd love to go UW, but curved is a dealbreaker for me. I had one before covid and it lasted 2 months before I got rid of it. Flat for life.
JustABrokePoser@reddit
I don't have OLED money.. but I do have a LG G6 34" ultrawide and aside from the blacks not being as good as my ps portal I do very much enjoy the ultrawide 21:9 especially in civ and spiderman.
