Anyone override idle shutdown with hothands?

Hey all. I wanted to know if anybody has successfully made it so the truck idles all night long by heating up that sensor under the driver’s side mirror. Did anybody do this in a truck equipped with IdleSmart? I need to override this BS to sleep better.

As an Australian seeing stuff like this amazes me. We have remote air conditioners or heaters for our sleeper quarters. I never have to idle the truck longer than idling down after hauling ass. Most common are "icepack" and "coolabah" -The icepack is a small diesel engine that runs an A/C compressor and fan. (Also charges the truck batteries when running) -The coolabah is a lithium battery powered split system air conditioner / heater. Also has a system that can jump start the truck if it has battery power. Lithium battery charges during normal driving time. Runs all night.

Does your truck have a button on the dash to over ride the shutdown? If so go to Amazon and buy a Switchbot. Set it up to push the button at certain intervals. I have one and it works perfectly.

My truck will stay running but my last truck would shut down and a board pushing on the accelerator worked on the old one because it would only accelerate to 600 or 800 rpms in neutral. This one will red line in neutral but I don’t need to worry about it shutting off.

It works. I use 2 of the small ones or 1 medium sized. I roll up a worn out thin t-shirt and put the hot hands in it inside the outermost layer of cloth. This will insulate the hand warmer and hold it in place. Tie the shirt around the mirror mount with the warmer at the nipple. This gets me 8-10 hrs as long as it's dry

It'll work. What truck are you driving? The hot hands only work for a bit though so the truck may shut off after an hour or so.

No, my union bargained for no idle shutdown controls allowed in operations greater than 500 outbound miles.
