Brought her to Cars and Coffee

Close friend convinced me to bring her to Cars and Coffee, figured what the hell, why not. Took some pics before heading out and wanted to share.
FBO 10th gen accord with a turbo swap and meth.

Normal traffic

Thanks man. That's part the beauty of it.

I wish my local traffic had more white on white cars. Mint combination.

I appreciate it!

Just replaced the head gasket on my SO car when she just did regular driving. Did you do anything to reinforce for that situation? Seems semi normal
undarant@reddit (OP)
Good chance her Accord has the 1.5 liter engine. Honda's L15BE engine is fundamentally flawed, the head bolts are not strong enough which leads to head lift over time, it's been a plague over the 10th gen Accords and Civics.
This is the 2.0 liter accord with Honda's K20C4, it's rock solid stock or even with modest power increases. With the power I'm pushing, I did upgrade to head studs to increase that clamping force.
vipercrazy@reddit
I thought it was due to the thin split block design between the cylinders causing the gasket to fail after much less heat cycles than a normal engine?
undarant@reddit (OP)
There's that, too. From what I know about it, that aspect wouldn't be a problem if the head bolts were sufficient. This also is why upgrading to head studs acts as a "fix" for 1.5 owners. It's popular to do in the 11th gen Civic SI community before those guys add any power.
calmtigers@reddit
This is amazing info, what forum do you use for this info? I’d love to upgrade and future proof best I can
undarant@reddit (OP)
Conglomeration of places. Dedicated Accord forums, there's a "10th Gen Accord Performance" Facebook group that is incredibly useful. Litany of other FB groups that are also super helpful.
You do have to parse through a lot of information from the peanut gallery, but you get folks that are Honda Master Techs chiming in about things and that's where the golden nuggets are.

Thanks!

Honestly looks really good. I recently bought a white Kia K5 GT and would like some rims similar to these.

Kansei Astros if you want a set!
I have a full chrome delete, you're just seeing the reflections off the gloss black vinyl.
mk5madz@reddit
Oh even better. It must be really glossy lol i thought it was chrome. I am doing a chrome delete for my trims too.

Poor car is on drugs

She's an addict, that's for sure.

By meth do you mean NOS?
undarant@reddit (OP)
No, I mean water/methanol injection. Like NOS, but far less inherent risk of blowing up your engine. It's still there but in different ways.

looks like a non car guy got into cars after warranty ran out
undarant@reddit (OP)
Damn. Brutal. What makes you say that?
D4ng3rd4n@reddit
Unconventional way to get a fast car. Don't mind them
undarant@reddit (OP)
Appreciate it. Went with it because I'm a car guy that doesn't have anywhere to store a dedicated project car, but wanted a car I could still do some decent work on.
D4ng3rd4n@reddit
Yep. If you wouldn't ask that guy for advice then don't take their opinion too seriously. I love seeing something different. How is the torque steer?
undarant@reddit (OP)
On the street, once I hook, it's perfectly manageable. There's definitely some there but I'd feel confident that anyone behind the wheel could handle it.
Like I said though, when I hook lol. It's an open diff FWD so she just spins from a dig. I'm very curious how the torque steer would be with radials on a prepped surface.
D4ng3rd4n@reddit
My last two cars were an 02 Miata that loses a race to a Prius, and a tuned Fiesta ST. Not enough power really in the FiST to feel it. Drove a friend's mazdaspeed3 and oh my god its like riding a bucking bronco as soon as you get into boost in second and third
NorthboundGoose@reddit
Loved my 10th gen accord. If you got the 2.0L you are just a sleeper type R - Plus seems you’ve done some other work, so you belong for sure. Wheels are sick!
undarant@reddit (OP)
Thanks man, appreciate it! They're a blast.
shoethemaker@reddit
6 speed? accords can be pretty sick sleepers.
undarant@reddit (OP)
Sadly not the 6 speed, when I bought it there were none near me :( I love her nonetheless!
shoethemaker@reddit
They probably didn't make many. I bet it's still a load of fun. Enjoy!
