Accelerated Program/Finish Up

Hey all, I have my PPL and IFR rating. I have 170 hours and want to finish up my commercial and get my CFI/CFII done. I’m looking for somewhere that is gonna get me done as fast as possible. I’m disciplined enough for the studying needed and am prepared for the to be my full time job. I just need advice on what’s best. I’m willing to move for a couple months to get it done. I currently have my eye on American Flyers. I’m looking at the Addison location in TX and the Pompano Beach location in FL. It appears they offer the most efficient program. The only thing I am worried about is DPE scheduling. I currently live in the Atlanta area and in the past have had horrible experiences trying to get a response from examiners. Any advice or feedback would be much appreciated!

If you’re willing to go to TX/FL you should come to Augusta and fly with @ltcterry. Going to be cheaper for travel/lodging and he has good relationships with DPEs and other local instructors to minimize delays. Plus you’ll be close enough to home that you can take care of anything you need to if something comes up in the meantime.

Venture north in Cloquet, MN could do CPL, CFI, and CFII in 15 days if you’re willing to travel. Very good program with high pass rates, but it’s expensive and might be a couple months out. I did CFI and CFII 10 days start to finish and had a very good experience.

I'm in Augusta. Message sent. I can help you with all that.

If you’re disciplined enough then find any school and get it done. What do you think an accelerated course gets you? You can study equally as a hard at a part 61 school and not pay the premium of a special program and of relocating.
Have you not seen the job market? What is your hurry?

I have seen some accelerated courses grant access to in house check rides or have connections to DPE’s. For my IFR checkride, I reached out to almost all of the DPE’s in my area and waited close to 3-4 months for a checkride. I had to spend extra money to brush up on my skills before my checkride because it was such a long wait.

Sorta surprised there isn’t a solution for you in Atlanta.

"Moving for a couple months" is kinda the opposite of what you want an accelerated program for... Go build more time and experience, you'd need 250 total hours for CPL/CFI anyways. Make sure you're familiar with the 61.129 requirements. Plan to do your CPL at home. That's an easy checkride to prepare for in 80 hours. In fact, you can probably do your CFI on the day after the CPL if your examiner is fine with it.
The whole point of accelerated CFI courses is that they get you a DPE within 1-2 weeks of your start date there. You need to go in with the knowledge and skills already solid, they won't be teaching you basically anything from scratch, just ironing out the weak areas and prepping you for the checkride itself.
