Looking for a holster/purse insert for my new gun š
Posted by bmartin503033@reddit | Firearms | View on Reddit | 75 comments
Just got this Sig p365 and itās much larger than my last gun which fit comfortably in my purse. Iām looking for an insert for my purse, not a concealed carry purse, to put inside of mine. If it holds the gun, it will fit as the purse is on the bigger side I just want it to have its own place. Any recommendations would be great. Thank you š
Impossible-Heart-216@reddit
Get one custom made through insane kydex they can have you upload your own graphics you seeem to be a person who appreciates beauty. You can pick the clip it comes with depending on your purse layout and ulticlip can work good in a pocket of the purse or if you are crafty with a needle and thread you can 3m Velcro to the holster and sew a Velcro patch in the purse. Iām with everyone else Iām sure is saying on body is better but off body can be done just be aware that thing should be married to your body like it is attached at your hip. Carry in though bro
brandon2205@reddit
I have that exact light on my glock 19, love it, and the warriorland company makes custom holsters for their lights, go to their website and check on it.
Eastern_Control4375@reddit
No just put it on the table next to the phone and car keys ....it looks great !!
Hahah
RiveredNuts@reddit
Thatās actually pretty sweet, Iād look at a common brand streamlight and look into tenicor holsters. Best I have used for striker fired. Donāt trust anything as much
bmartin503033@reddit (OP)
Thank you!!!
RiveredNuts@reddit
Welcome, the threaded barrel and extra length shouldnāt be any issues but all light holsters use retention on wml itself. So common lights is key for more holster options
bmartin503033@reddit (OP)
Awesome! Iām reconsidering the light altogether now haha and even considering a smaller firearm to be able to carry on my body comfortably after reading many comments. Itās been very helpful! Thank you again š
RiveredNuts@reddit
They start getting too small they are shit to shoot or you have to drop down calibers.
bmartin503033@reddit (OP)
Do you have any experience with the p238? Would you consider this too small?
RiveredNuts@reddit
Want a good challenge, get into double action only snub nose. I went through a several month phase of shooting only 32h&r mag and 38+p/357 and it will teach you alot along the way. The transition back to semi auto was like I unlocked a cheat code. Till this day there hasnāt been a more comfortable carry than a J frame revolver
bmartin503033@reddit (OP)
Ugh revolver trip me out a bit. I was looking at a sig p238 to be able to carry on me. After looking at many different options recommended I did like the bra holster and think that would work best for me most of the time.
RiveredNuts@reddit
They should demonetize OF. See if women still sell their souls for free.
bmartin503033@reddit (OP)
Lol an interesting an opinion
Sacredobject01@reddit
As someone who owns multiple shark coast tactical guns. That cerakote will not last for long if you carry it or bring it with you anywhere. Hell, if the gun gets any genuine use at all the cerakote will chip or come off Don't get me wrong, I love that their stuff is pretty but they should have alot more experience and R&D in cerakote before selling large amounts of these firearms. Ive had my 80s night 43x warrantied out twice due to cerakote chipping off with daily carry within a year of buying the gun and my AR from them you can take off the cerakote by barely scratching an edge with a fingernail. TL:DR- If you like how that gun looks, keep it that way by not carrying it. If you dont mind it battle scarred (bag or on body carry) in a few months, carry it.
bmartin503033@reddit (OP)
Good to know! Thank you so much! Iām looking at a p238 to carry on me and am thinking this will be kept close by at night or in my car. I was curious if it would chip or not. Thank you so much for your input!

I would recommend a better/different light. Streamlight TLR7sub is popular and has a lot of holster support.
You want custom kydex. Either a trigger sheath or a full holster that secures to the purse with a lanyard (small, short cord) so you pull out the gun and the holster remains in the purse. I do the same thing with my fanny pack when I jog.
Tenicor makes a TLR7 sub holster and I believe also a tlr6 holster if you prefer that light. But your pistol has a rail and the tlr7 is a much brighter light with USB rechargeable batteries.
If you're married to that light you might have to go looking on Etsy for custom kydex. I definitely don't recommend nylon or leather. You will need something that is secure such that you can upend the gun, shake it, and it doesn't come out. You'll also want to be sure that nothing can get into the trigger guard. That's the problem with purse carry. Any cylindrical object like a tampon, pen, lip gloss, or chapstick can get into the trigger guard and pull the trigger. Y'all really have just all the little cylindrical things...
Kindly_Region@reddit
A lot of sellers in Etsy do custom holsters. I always look there first

Yeah, it was a bit uncalled for. But I hope this is a reality check for you to pump the brakes on all this unnecessary surgery. You're gonna end up looking like Erin Moriarty and the will be no going back. I'm really sorry your life circumstances led you to thinking that you needed to do this to yourself.
bmartin503033@reddit (OP)
I really like the way I look and completely understand that my look is not going to be considered attractive to everyone and thatās okay. Now why we are talking about my plastic surgery on this subreddit, I have no clue but I also understand that some people really feel the need to comment on it no matter what the subject is, I guess itās something Iāll continue to try and get used to. For the sake of the next girl, I just hope you donāt do it in person because internet bullies arenāt fun but it comes across as even more uncalled for and mean in person. But again, have a great Sunday night!! š
DixieBlade88@reddit
Iād go with a hybrid holster company for IWB like crossbreed or alien gear. Not a fan of off the body carry. You will most likely need to change the light to a mainstream brand that the holster companies have a mold for. Otherwise nice piece! š
bmartin503033@reddit (OP)
Thank you so much!!
wlogan0402@reddit
You'll need a different light, and im sure me and a bunch of other people are gonna chime in on how purse carry is bad practice
bmartin503033@reddit (OP)
Iād love to be educated on it, I donāt mind chiming in at all. Why do I need a different light? For a holster or for this firearm? I appreciate any input š
wlogan0402@reddit
Light bearing holsters almost always index on the light, so no-name bullshit lights don't have holsters available. As for purse carry? Anyone could walk up and snatch a purse no problem, draw time will be long as hell, and the gun will get caked up in dust and gunk
bmartin503033@reddit (OP)
I can see all of that being a concern. I do wear my purse cross body so hopefully that would be better and my purse is pristine clean lol and also another reason why Iām looking for itās own little place in my purse. I also have a holster to wear but this is for instances when I wouldnāt be able to carry directly on me. Thank you for your comment!
Noneed4cavalry@reddit
I carry in a crossbody bag most of the time. Faster, more comfortable and WAAAAY more convenient. Gotta run in the post office? Just take off the bag. Gotta take a dump at Walmart? No worries, the carry stays right where it should. Only real thing of note is keep the holster free and clear if anything else. Lots of purses out there designed for carry and I'd recommend one of them over just slapping your gun in your purse. The rigid velcro adjustable holsters seem like junk when you first see them, but if you adjust them right they work with bag carry just fine. The rest about cheaper lights often not having good holster options is legit though. Some custom manufacturers can accommodate, but you're paying a premium and might as well just upgrade the bag or light.
wlogan0402@reddit
Pocket carry is always an option

Also, womenās clothing is usually lacking in the usable pockets department.

Cross body is a bit better than a purse. But a holster on body is best.
IAmMagumin@reddit
I agree with getting a reputable light, but you can have your configuration custom kydexed. If you search for it, you should find a few options (even locally), as it's pretty easy to do. Shit, you could get into making your own sheaths/holsters if you're into DIY.
keenansmith61@reddit
I haven't given it a shot personally as I don't carry a purse, but I took my ccw course yesterday and dude tried to demonstrate a one handed purse draw and it was a nightmare. Basically if you have someone close up on you and you're having to use one hand to create distance or push the attacker away, it's gonna be really fucking hard to draw from a purse with your free hand.
Sub7viaLimeWire@reddit
I agree you need a name brand light. Thereās a reason when you search for photos of guns you mainly see Surefire and Streamlight on pistols.
I agree āoff bodyā carry like a purse can be problematic. However I would argue itās better than no carry at all. As long as you train with it, and donāt let anyone take your purse of course.
rocko430@reddit
i see alot of women using the belly band holsters, maybe try that?
Feisty-Tadpole-5127@reddit
The light is a tool. You dont go to work with cheap/faulty/ unknown brands when your life could depend on it. When your life is on the line you want good quality stuff
ArceusTwoFour_Zero@reddit
Off body carry is a bad idea. If you lose the bag, you also lose the gun.
If it's on your actual person, you can lose the bag, but still retain the gun.

The Rose 365,very nice. You got class. There is a whole industry dedicated to women carrying.Type ccw purses, clothing, accessories for women into Amazon,Ebay and Google.Tons of options.
Celestyol@reddit
First off, don't pay attention to the fudds and shills here. There is nothing wrong with Warriorland products, I actually have 2 Crossbows with their corresponding holsters and both have been amazing! However, with your particular firearm, I would opt for an OLight PL-3R or a Streamlight TLR-3X, as they are better fit for subcompact and slimline models.
As for purse carry, the thing is not finding an insert for your existing purse rather than you need to find an actual tactical purse. It will be tough to find a setup to comfortably and reliably carry in your current Gucci or Coach purse. Instead it would be better to find a company that specializes in selling tactical purses that come equipped with not only fashion, but all CCW essentials. For men, a common outlet for our man purses is 945 Industries. Take a look there to give yourself an idea of what you will need as you search for a tactical purse.

Highly recommend a belly band as well, they are nice because they work for an array of outfits and donāt require a belt or belt loops.
For lights I would recommend Streamlight TLR-7. Cheap and easy to find holsters for it.
thesnazzyenfj@reddit
Also discourage off-body carry. I am a female and I carry on-body. Especially in a purse because as a female, they're gonna go for that first. I suggest the Phlster Enigma and if youre absolutely still stuck on purse carry, you'd need a Kydex type. hard body shell. Lovely piece!

No matter what soldier you choose, find a range that will let you draw from your purse and PRACTICE drawing AND firing until are absolutely comfortableĀ
BonjinTheMark@reddit
Have you ever shot this thing? If so, how many rounds?
Toshinit@reddit
I'd pull the light off for this.
I'd get this holster: Amazon.com : Tulster IWB Profile+ Kydex Holster in Right Hand fits: Sig P365 Fuse | Optic Compatible Inside the Waistband Appendix Concealed Carry : Sports & Outdoors as it will accommodate the threaded barrel.
I'd pull off the clips, it's just a phillips-head screw. I'd Probably want to loosen the retention screws a bit too, since pulling from a bag is going to be less secure than from a belt.
Then I'd take some VELCRO and attach it to the inside of the purse, and outside of the holster. The added benefit of this is that you can attach VELCRO to multiple purses, so you can carry with multiple options. Get something thick like this though, so it has enough resistance when you pull.
Amazon.com: VELCRO Brand Heavy Duty Fasteners | 4x2 Inch Strips with Adhesive 8 Sets | Holds 10 lbs | Black Industrial Strength Stick On Tape | Indoor or Outdoor Use (VEL-30703-USA), 8 Count (Pack of 1) : Office Products

Youāre amazing! Thank you!
Big_Z_Diddy@reddit
I highly discourage off-body carry. If someone snatches your purse, they now have your gun as well. Always carry on-body if it is practicable to do so.
I recommend a good quality kydex IWB holster (inside the waste band). Depending on where you carry your gun, and the type of clothing you wear, a belly band holster might be an option as well.
Sub7viaLimeWire@reddit
Yeah I told someone now you have to treat your purse like a loaded gun. Go to a friendās house that has a kid? Guess you canāt sit your purse down anymore.
Also purse carry is arguably worse than a briefcase or backpack because assholes are more likely to try and snatch a purse and run.
Still, as long as youāre responsible and train I would rather have a purse gun than no gun, even as a guy.
bmartin503033@reddit (OP)
Thank you!!! š
Big_Z_Diddy@reddit
You're welcome!
Sub7viaLimeWire@reddit
I already commented on purse carry and the light. And then I realized nobody is actually answering the question. Beautiful gun btw.
So if you are doing purse carry you donāt want a āsoftā like cloth or leather holster. Things can get in between the holster and the trigger. You want a hard kydex type holster.
The next issue is when you draw you donāt want the holster to come out with the gun. You need a retention mechanism to hold the holster in the purse. A lot of holsters have clips or loops to keep it in the purse when you draw. But, that brings up the last issue.
When you reach in your purse in a life or death situation you need to know where the pistol is to grab it. It needs to be in the same spot with the same orientation every time. You donāt want to have to even think about finding it when you need it.
Crossbreed makes one and they also sell the Velcro inserts if you want to use a different holster.
