Affordable is relative. Is there a price range you want to stay within?

I just ordered my first ebike after several weeks of research. I ended up choosing Lectric XP4 750. Mostly because they are an American company that has lots of support from various cycle shops for easy repair and parts access.

I always recommend checking your local bike shop and/or closest bike shops to see what they're selling at reasonable prices. Buying locally has the perks of having someone willing to work on an ebike for general maintenance and any repairs. You don't have to purchase from them, but having them as a place that can help is much preferred over purchasing a cheap ebike online that turns into a paper weight the first time there's a problem if you can't get parts for it and no one in your area will work on it.

I would aim for a lightweight ebike (mo more than 40lbs/18kg). Motor power and battery should be irrelevant for the range you are doing and an ebike that is lightweight. It'll give you plenty of juice and range regardless.
Being lightweight comes with a few versatilities: 1. You can pedal normally like a regular bike without battery power easily. 2. You can mount on an affordable regular trunk rack on your car instead of needing a hitch rack. 3. Easy to carry up/down a set of stairs. 4. More nimble and maneuverable in traffic.
You might be tempted to get one of those fat tire ebikes that weigh 70-100lbs, but I'd advise against it because, in my opinion, what you lose in terms of portability and flexibility is simply not worth it unless you're going for the cargo form factor, which grants you utility.
Also, make sure whatever ebike you get, they have a dealer network that will service the bike because otherwise, you will regret it when you need to bring it in for maintenance and you will find that no shop is willing to work on it.

I have an Electra Vale Go. It has the 250 watt motor and only provides assistance while you are pedaling the bike. With nine speeds and four different levels of assistance, it makes riding very enjoyable and the hills around me easy. It was pricy at $2000 but worth it.

I just bought the Trek Fx1 and are having them install thr shotgun evolved pro for my little girl to ride with me. Was a spur of thr moment thing, I have not rode a bike in 20 + years.

Whatever you buy, just make sure that you get at least a 750 watts motor or higher with a battery that is 48 V with 16ah or more and 700 kilowatts or higher of energy density. They are multiple versions on Internet on the cheaper side around 700- 1000. Reality is that a lot of the brands use a lot of the same components Bofan and rebrand.

I got a Priority ECoast from Costco Direct, great price, great reliability thus far, love it for my 2 mile commute. They have more commuter-looking bikes with similar features.

Aventon e-bikes seems to be decent. I’ve seen a lot of good reviews on them. They’ve been established for awhile and there are 1800 shops in the US that service them. Looks like you can get bikes starting around 14-1500 bucks.

Well I have a ouxi c80 it was 650 euro new,Own the bike for 8 months and now have 4000km and the range is still like it came new from factory,You might need to look around as most sellers will try to ask more, but in general really recommend(it's a fatbike tough...)

I have a Bulls LT Evo Performance, I'm really happy with it.
Whatever you get, buy it from a nearby store or upway, so service won't be an issue.
