Thank you, that's what I think also. Could you say a bit more about why? Any particular design features that stand out?

The most definitive feature is definitely the slide - it has that distinctive Beretta look. Also, the protrusion on the lower part of the pistol grip - earlier Beretta pistols also have them.
Combine them with the slide, and that's how I came to the conclusion that it's a Beretta pistol.

great comments, many thanks. What is that slim piece of metal on a 45 degree angle above the trigger? Sorry I don't know guns well

That would be the slide stop/release lever.
When the pistol runs out of bullets, the lever would go up and stop the pistol slide from going forward. It makes it easier for the shooter to know when the pistol is empty.
