Has anyone checked if their TV is affected by the Bush/Toshiba recall?

Just came across this and hadn’t seen it mentioned here yet.
Argos has recalled some Bush TVs and is offering free replacement power cables due to a safety issue.
(Small potential fire risk)
It’s only certain models/batches, but worth checking if you bought one in the last couple of years.
Has anyone here checked theirs or actually been affected?
Has anyone received a replacement cable?
You can check details here:

Also saw it mentioned here:

Yes bought Bush TV online from Argos in November 25, recieved an email from them, check and ours was affected, filled out the online form and received a new cable about a week later, simple.

Great.

All smart TVs. Why are they not pushing prompts on the TVs of those affected telling them what they need to do?
Profit over people. Doing their bare minimum legal requirement instead of being proactive.

Yeah, I wondered if that was possible. In a perfect world, they’d be able to do some kind of targeted push advert to the TVs by serial number, but I’m guessing they don’t have the system within the TVs to handle that.

There’s a few models of smart TVs (mine included) that can enable ads via the Internet, so it is possible. There’s nothing stopping them from displaying this warning the next time they switch on their Internet-connected TV.
Hell, if that was the only thing that system was used for, I’d still have mine connected to the internet. Sadly it’s just unstoppable ads every time I turn the bugger on.
Don’t buy Hisense TVs, folks.
CynicalSorcerer@reddit
They absolutely have that tech. They can use the same tech that pushes out firmware updates.
BruH-5200@reddit (OP)
Yes, I did ponder them sending out a dummy firmware update for affected sets with a release note telling people to get the cable. But lots of people don’t install firmware updates and most people don’t read release notes.
Sburns85@reddit
They have that tech. And it’s really easy to implement
myuseridisliam@reddit
You are assuming the tvs are connected to the Internet.
They won't all be so wouldn't get an update or message.
spezisdumb42069@reddit
So because they can't reach every TV, that's an excuse for not trying at all?
myuseridisliam@reddit
There is likely guidelines for how recalls are communicated and this won't be a requirement.
Its a budget brand so doubt they would spend money to deliver the message.
I'm not saying its a bad idea, its a great idea but you won't see it any time soon.
DoctorOctagonapus@reddit
Many TVs will be connected to the internet, so it would be an easy win for a lot of them.

Thanks OP I had no idea this was a thing.
We picked up a cheapo bush TV from Argos about a year ago to stick in our guest room.
Need to go see if it’s about to burn my house down.
BruH-5200@reddit (OP)
Glad to help.
bullstudios@reddit
Just checked and the TV in the kids room is one affected, thanks OP for posting this. Have ordered one up
Gloomy_Pastry@reddit
if they recalled due to the freely that keeps on losing the channel 4 and ITV channel DRM once a week that renders over 50% of channels unusable, that would be great.
BruH-5200@reddit (OP)
lol
Koda614@reddit
Yes, I have two Toshiba TVs in my house affected. I submitted the claim two weeks ago as soon as Argos emailed me to tell me I had an affected model. Still waiting for the replacement cables to be posted out.
I may just change the fuses myself if they don’t turn up in the next few days. It’s slightly worrying being told it’s dangerous yet then they make no rush to ship out the replacement parts.
BruH-5200@reddit (OP)
That’s a shame, might be worth giving them a nudge. The cable for my Bush came through within a couple of days.
WildyCassie@reddit
Did not even hear about this so good shout for posting it because a lot of people probably need to check their TVs just in case and it is better safe than sorry
BruH-5200@reddit (OP)
Thanks, it covers a couple of years of TVs, so suspect it’s a lot of people potentially affected.
