ULPT: How to get travel insurance claim approved?
Posted by zz5712@reddit | UnethicalLifeProTips | View on Reddit | 8 comments
To summarize, I booked a 10 day trip with my significant other to Europe in a few weeks. We are no longer together, and I have no interest in going alone. I'm in almost 2k on flights, a hotel, and a rental car. Hotel and flight I believe are nonrefundable. I want to get what we paid back, as well as her share as well to be fair.
We have an Allianz OneTrip Basic travel insurance policy for this trip. I may need to rely on that to recoup the cost of the hotel and flight. Issue is- I'm a pretty healthy guy in his early 30s, she is as well. How can I get this claim approved? I assume I'll need to go through the medical route of "unable to travel".

What about a work commitment that you are unable to miss. Very "important" meeting!

Seeing as you explained you are healthy with no medical issues to prevent you from taking the trip,
are you seeking advice on how to commit insurance fraud, (a cooked medical certificate or whatever)?
If successful, your $10k claim, and other such claims, adds pressure to the need to raise premiums for everyone else!

It's about a $1500 claim, and this is ULPT, I didn't post this in ethical life tips for a reason, but thanks

If they change the itinerary on your flight you can call and request a refund, YMMV

Also try through your credit card, many have trip insurance as part of your benefits. I think you should just go alone. I live in Germany alone and I go places by myself all the time.
