Second pic is my ordinary bike second is a possible buy? I own a regular bike. I want to upgrade to a e-bike because I find it more reliable than an ordinary bike you know? Where can I find an affordable e-bike that won’t cost an arm and limb to get? I’ve seen multiple bike shops selling theirs for 2-4 thousands of dollars which is absurd. Where can I buy one that won’t hurt the wallet? I’ve seen one on Walmart is it good?

Who are these people who only shop at bike shops and Walmart... Like widen your options Amazon has 30 day return policy no questions asked and most ebike brands have warranties that cover most issues. Just buy a ridstar or something cheap off Amazon to test it out first before you spend more. I wouldn't buy any bike from Walmart and bike shops overcharge for everything.
nightstorm52@reddit
Where do you take Amazon bikes for warranty work?
AnythinGoeSouth@reddit
It's called customer service. I've had stuff break on my bike and I just emailed customer service and they only asked for video proof of damage and mailed me new parts.
nightstorm52@reddit
Oh so you have to install them yourself? Who does it if you don't have the tools or ability to do it yourself?
TopRepulsive4766@reddit
Most people with any modicum of common sense can do most of their own repairs on an ebike. Lack of tools can be a problem. But if you're going to own a vehicle, then get some tools. Why pay someone else exhorbitant fees for something you can do yourself free.
AnythinGoeSouth@reddit
Idk anymore man I feel like I'm fighting a uphill battle telling people common sense just to be downvoted. Is the idea of ownership and fixing something yourself just not a thing anymore? I'm feeling old and I'm young telling people these dad comments.
TopRepulsive4766@reddit
You gotta just keep pluggin away. Remember that if just one person reads and heeds what you say and is helped by your post, it's been worth it. And downvotes...that's basically a joke on this site and I don't even pay any attention.
AnythinGoeSouth@reddit
It's the exact same process as setting the bike up all ebikes comes partially or fully disassembled and you can read the instructions (most don't) and figure it out it's not like I had to buy a welding mask and build a bike 😂

Is this good yall?

Rubbish

You get what you pay for. You aren't going to get an ok quality ebike for less than ~$1000.
$2000 for a good ebike isn't absurd, that is the price that good quality ebikes start at. Good bike components aren't cheap. Ebikes need good components to hold up to higher speeds and heavier bikes. Then you add a safe battery with good range and a powerful motor. And all the other electrical components. It adds up.

If you want a safe, fixable ebike you need to consider spending some money. I'm big building ebikes and suggest starting with a high quality one from a local bike shop, NOT WALMART. I usually go with Trek and there marlin series can start at $550 if you catch a end of model sale. I only get parts from ebikekit in philly. Say $800 for a kit and depending on battery say $500. So with any extras, extra parts to keep on hand, misc say under $2k.
You an use any ordinary bike and parts off internet, but suggest to spend upfront for quality.

Used market.

Which one on Walmart? And with proper research (which is an absolute must) ebikes from Amazon (and probably Walmart as well) can be a good deal.
As to fixing your own ebike. For 99% of problems it's fairly easy to do it yourself. There are even many youtube videos addressing various repairs. Some repairs will be simple, and other will be tedious and time-consuming. But most people can do them nonetheless.
In this day and age, there is really no reason to overspend on an ebike when, with proper research, you can buy one that is just as good from an online retailer.

What about AliExpress lol any good things from them?
TopRepulsive4766@reddit
I use AliExpress from time to time. I haven't had any problems with them. But they take forever and a day for shipping. I think everything has to come from China.

Ohh okay got it

Damn lol

You’re better off converting your current bike to a hub motor. It’s cheaper, you can get motors online for reasonable prices. Then YouTube and google the install. Best of both worlds.
DP00I@reddit (OP)
Was thinking about doing that fr
BassesNBikes@reddit
It's a good idea, but sadly your Y-frame makes it a major challenge.

This is most definitely gonna be a pain in the ass and he'll be posting every week for the next year about some new issue. Buy a decent bike with good reviews and a warranty if you want the stress-free ebike experience.
mtn91@reddit
E-bikes are convenient, but they’re not more reliable than normal bikes. They have all the components of a normal bike but with electronic things that can break, too.
Inciteful_Analysis@reddit
Vanpowers Grand Teton Pro $899. On par or better than bikes costing twice as much. It's a fat tire bike but you won't find a better deal under $1000.

i bought the amyet eb26 from walmart for 700 and it was trash. was in a tough spot and got a $400 cheap one off ebay just to get to and from work. put double the miles on it that the amyet lasted.
urlond@reddit
The thing is this, are you capable of fixing the problems on your own. If you can fix the problem on your own a wal-mart one wouldn't be bad. May not last long or could last forever.
If you arnt capable of fixing the problems on your own a shop is the better choice over a walmart ebike.
