Bohemian Rap City. Took me far too long to discover it was “rhapsody”

My kid (age 8) likes to yell. “MAMA!” Then when I answer him he just sings “OOOOOH!”

Didn't mean to make you cry

There was a show on MuchMusic called RapCity and I had never heard of a Rhapsody, so yes—it was Bohemian Rap City to me! But I soon realized how it was actually spelled when I saw the video with the title written out, also on MuchMusic.

Definitely thought they made up MuchMusic on the Robin Sparkles eps of How I Met Your Mother…the more you know.

Watched Wayne's World movie with my dad asking him about the song they sang together in the car.
I also repeated it wrong back to dad calling it rap city and was immediately corrected.
He had not only been a huge Queen fan, but also an 80s rock station DJ, so I was given no leeway in mispronouncing this song.

Did you feel like he was more knowledgeable or insufferable when it came to music trivia?

I knew the song but didn't know whatbit was called. And thought "Bohemia" was a carribbean Island. 💀
Loud-Chicken6046@reddit
No. Not even once and I suck at song lyrics and titles.
NicholasVinen@reddit
It's an understandable mistake since Freddie Mercury is such a famous rapper.

I had a friend who’s indie rap group made a mixtape called “Bohemian Rap CD” in the early 2000’s. For the intro they sampled the Muppet’s cover of Bohemian Rhapsody. It was kind of a joke, but actually pretty dope.

CAR!!!
GAME ON!!!
Tapper420@reddit
Totally heard that in a friend's voice while a 92 Taurus drove through.
Rough-Instruction-29@reddit
TIL it’s not rap city
ThingsOfThatNaychah@reddit
A 6th grade classmate thought it was "Bohemian Rap Song".
Sodamyte@reddit
Not me, but only because I saw the title in print before I heard the song
blackhawksq@reddit
I thought it was bohemian raspberry
dkonigs@reddit
I'm pretty sure I heard it called exactly that, perhaps by friends, long before I ever actually heard the song.

My kids think the lyrics:
“Spare him his life from this monstrosity”
is actually
“Spare him his life from this warm sausage tea”
I don’t correct them.

Possibly
But probably not
