Build bigger pyramids than in Egypt to emasculate the Egyptians

I did the math. You need 2,300,000 limestone or granite blocks to match the great pyramid of giza. If you used modern cranes and built this new pyramid next to a port or a navigable river, you could ship in thousands of blocks a day and have them shaped on site.
It can be done in 10 years and with $10 billion. You’d need 24/7 crew and dozens of cranes in constant operation to pull it off, and a lot of cargo boats with shipping container sized blocks.

I wanna see the time lapse.

365x24x600 = 525,600 minutes in a year. If it is moving 1 ton blocks and average two minutes per move then just 1 crane could do the whole job.
Mahoka572@reddit
How do you measure, do you measure a year? In daylights, in sunsets, in ton blocks...
NearABE@reddit
The numbers I threw out are days in year, hours in day, minutes in hour.
The block mass came from the post above since it just says “blocks”. The Khufu’s pyramid is 2.6 million m^3 in volume. The post also says “shipping container sized blocks” which poses some challenges. “Blocks of stone on pallets in shipping containers” is more believable.
The intermodal container is 2.4m wide x 2.6m height x 12.2m length (for 40 foot containers). 76.1 m^3 .
We could stack 34,152 intermodal containers and call it a done pyramid. The world economy is moving around 20 million of them. They are not rated to be stacked 62 tall though. Reinforcing intermodal containers would be harder than just building a steel frame structure. Around 500 to 600 times the Great Pyramid’s volume is in motion or in yards today.

I think you missed the point of my comment lol. 525,600 minutes is a famous line in the song Seasons of Love from the musical Rent.
NearABE@reddit
I sure did miss that.
Swagasaurus-Rex@reddit
So you're telling me I don't need anybody's help

"Where's the keys to my Kubota?"
pomoerotic@reddit
Man, don’t give orangeface any more ideas.
Sirlacker@reddit
Do we need that many blocks though? With modern technology could we not create an easier to build structure and then just use thinner blocks as a skin?
YoelsShitStain@reddit
What’s crazy is they estimate the great pyramids were only built in 20-30 years.
BaitmasterG@reddit
Now make it hollow and poured concrete
mnsklk@reddit
Make it flat on the ground and paint stripes on it. Now we can utilize the spade as a parking lot instead
Swagasaurus-Rex@reddit
What if you could maximize the usable space inside of a pyramid while still maintaining structural soundness? The volume inside could be immense. You could have miles of tunnels, some incredible halls and chambers.
iCanOnlyAskQuestion@reddit
Did you double check your numbers?
Disastrous_Ad1260@reddit
Please don't give our monument-builder-in-chief any more ideas
GriffinNowak@reddit
Hear me out. We built another pyramid around the Bass Pro shop pyramid that is larger than any of the Egyptian pyramids
gyozafish@reddit
We can’t have a cool pyramid because … orange man bad?
Disastrous_Ad1260@reddit
Pyramids are hot. Let's rebuild the hanging gardens of Babylon to show up the Iraqis, instead. Grow food and cool the nearby air
SovietPatrickStar@reddit
He’s going to find a good use for the park and the Tidal Basin. Don’t you worry.
dka2012@reddit
Make them out of some material that will last longer than limestone and then start a libelous campaign that the Egyptian pyramids are old and unsafe and should be torn down. Make everyone forget about them after a decade or so.
bionicjoey@reddit
Bass Pro Shop pyramid
DarkForebodingStew@reddit
Don't give the crazies in Dubai any ideas.
Asparagus9000@reddit
Do the people there even care about them? I remember someone saying they lived there and never saw them.
Numerous_Fudge_9537@reddit
Back in my school, every kid in the class visited them at least once and of course the school had us go on a road trip there with a guide
Personally whenever I'm on the road and see them, I would just keep looking at them (provided I'm not the one driving) lol
It's just surreal realizing how long that structure has been there and the millions of people who witnessed it across the ages just like myself
12Blackbeast15@reddit
They actually just finished a state of the art museum outside the pyramids, in part so that Egypt would be capable of housing its own delicate artifacts rather than leaving them in the British museum
sfurbo@reddit
Canada is working on it: https://cosmobiologist.blogspot.com/2016/03/the-yellow-sulfur-pyramids-of-canada.html?m=1
inode71@reddit
We did - they are called skyscrapers.
shasaferaska@reddit
Too narrow. We need more girthy pyramids.
SNESChalmers420@reddit
There's a big ass bass pro shop in Tennessee that's a big pyramid. that shows we have better retail ideas than the Egyptians. That is surly emasculating.
Deyrn-Meistr@reddit
For someone, for sure.
lordwafflesbane@reddit
posts a hittite would make
myusernameblabla@reddit
If tombs are allowed? Japan already has the largest man made tomb (daisen kofun)
MordaxTenebrae@reddit
Can we let people live in it? And then we can call it a hive city, where all the loyal citizens of the God-Emperor reside.
Quitcha_Bitchin@reddit
I'm really surprised it has not been at least attempted especially in this time line of more money than brains.
Riptide360@reddit
Vegas has a pyramid that is newer.
xrelaht@reddit
It doesn’t have a skull though.
Kflynn1337@reddit
Bass Pro already did that.
cabronfavarito@reddit
I support this
uses_for_mooses@reddit
The Luxor in Las Vegas is the world’s 3rd largest pyramid.
While the Memphis Pyramid (a Bass Pro Shop) is the 6th tallest pyramid.
I’m all for building some even bigger ones.
GoonTime2@reddit
We do need another Bass Pro Shop
Quinocco@reddit
Egypt is self-destructing. Nobody needs to one-up them.
