I met Wayne a couple times before/after shows. The first time was in Indianapolis around 2001 or 2002 during the Family Values tour. He was shorter than I expected but cooler than I could have hoped. I imagine the hair and boots will have that effect.
I don't have any sincere conversation to share. I liked his music a lot, and in my experience, he was a really cool dude when it came to meeting fans.
I really loved this band and even got the limited signed record after he passed. Songs that they released that were B-sides with help of the dude from Dope. After that though it became a gross money making scheme to live off of his name and still tour with the asshat dressing like Wayne every night. Dude from dope did good but to still be making "NEW" static music, fuck that nonsense.
For real. If the new band is good enough, they should get their own name instead of riding Wayne's coattails. The members of Sublime had the decency to call themselves Sublime with Rome. They should call themselves Static-X-Dope or something.
Ahh yes, Sonic Temple, the fest where angry dads, ghostly hippies, and spray-tanned hardcore kids unite to drink overpriced beer and lose their voices to 10 year old metalcore and 25 year old nu metal. Have fun!
We’re doing Aftershock in Sacramento. It looks like a lot of the same lineup. I sprung for the VIP tickets so we could have access to better bathrooms, seating, and shorter food lines, I’m not a young woman anymore. I don’t want to be standing in a 30 min long line in the dust and the heat waiting for the drunk people in front of me to stumble out of the portajohns.
Oh. Ha! Yeah. Every time I remember we’re going, and did the 4-day pass, I wonder if I fully lost my mind and am just gonna run out of steam and enthusiasm by midway the second day.
My husband showed me the lineup and I think we convinced each other into an impulse buy.
That’s why I knew we needed the VIP. They have seating at some of the stages whereas general is just a blanket on a lawn, staring at the backs of someone’s legs and risking getting trampled by some drunk people if you want to sit.
Plus this is the first intense event we’ve done since I got my Type 1 diabetes diagnosis so I need somewhere I won’t get slammed into if I need to inject. Or somewhere to sit if the heat sends me into a low.
I’m literally at a festival right now. 2 days/nights of shows. Kids love the space and ability to roam all over the site. It’s like a soft start to the summer.
Jamband festival, though. I couldn’t last a single show at Sonic Temple.
The only two bands I like on here enough to have bought a record and learn the words to their songs are Rise Against and The Offspring. I'm afraid I would spend most of my time trying to avoid radio rock bands who I very specifically don't like.
Its wild to me the majority of the big bands are from 20 years ago. It seems like no one big is coming out of the music scene anymore in these genres. Sure there are a few but nothing like the 90's and 2000's.
I thought it was awkward that there are two bands playing on the same day called Wind walker, but then I realized they are different and one is Windwaker
If it wasn't in Ohio (or anywhere in the U.S.S.A. for that matter) then I would absolutely go. No chance I'm stepping foot anywhere in that authoritarian shithole though.
Not this one but we will be going to Aftershock which has many of those same bands but add on Limp Bizkit. We have gone the last 8 years and it is awesome. Gonna go until the wheels fall off.
BugEquivalents@reddit
this would be entirely too loud for me these days 😂
crazycatlady331@reddit
Great lineup.
But my days of traveling for concerts are behind me.
illprobablyeditthis@reddit
Seems like the only concerts I can go to these days are out of town. No one comes south of Orlando anymore.
That being said, this is a festival and my days of going to festivals are well behind me, no matter where they are. Fuck that.
crazycatlady331@reddit
Same here with festivals.
D-Skel@reddit
We do it more than ever, but it's mostly out of necessity because bands we like don't come though our area like they used to.
crazycatlady331@reddit
I'm in the Philly metro area. Concerts come through here.
PNWoutdoors@reddit
My days of going to festivals with this many bands in a day, and over four days, is likely way, way behind me.
Best I have done in recent years is both days of Punk in Drublic, but only once. Other years I could only go one day.
I'm not 21 anymore.
crazycatlady331@reddit
Same. I discovered some great bands via festivals, but I am not 21 anymore.
And I won't use a portapotty.
Thesweetlenny@reddit
Wait, Good Charlotte?
icouldlivewoutbacon@reddit
Not my style of music but damn these are some pretty huge bands for one festival
icouldlivewoutbacon@reddit
Looks like the T-shirt selection at hot topic
NoExam2412@reddit
Why is STP so low down?
MerryHeretic@reddit
Holy shit, this is a crazy line up. I had no idea Snot survived the 90’s.
NoExam2412@reddit
Seriously. This list is unbelievable!
cbih@reddit
Same with Static X. How do you even have the balls to call yourselves that when Wayne Static is dead?
ThePerfectSnare@reddit

Lead singer didn't. In fact it could be a funny infographic of how many of those bands are not original members now
jikt@reddit
Holy shit! I only ever heard that band using Real Player. Time to go hunting.
CoyoteDown@reddit
Some of it did

I’m looking to sell a 4 day GA field ticket
CreativeFedora@reddit
So sick that Electric Callboy is on that lineup!
Whole_Engineer_3757@reddit
Thursday would be my day
nahmahnahm@reddit
Does that say Dethklok???
seche314@reddit
My son just saw them a week ago
EvilBill515@reddit
I said the same thing.... maybe they are back.... in pog form.
Hoppy_Hessian@reddit
They are currently touring with Amon Amarth. I just saw them last week and it was a hell of a show!
NoFalseModesty@reddit
And Castle Rat
Hoppy_Hessian@reddit
I was super surprised by Castle Rat. They were great. I would pay to see them as a headliner.
athedrummaster@reddit
I’m seeing them in 2 weeks!
macrocosm93@reddit
I would only go on Sunday for Castle Rat, Megadeth, Anthrax, and Tool.

Just totally agree with you

Badmeestert@reddit
I sent the line up to a friend of mine nd he replied:
I can't
But he hadn't look where it's taking place. We are from Europe ::)
But I need a normal hotel and a chair to make it through a four day festival
echochilde@reddit

Badmeestert@reddit
Ah! Oh well than I wish you the best. Especially with the diabetes and such. Have a blast Greetings from Europe
CeleryintheButt@reddit
That Sunday lineup is stacked. Is this a yearly festival?
funkyfritos@reddit
Yes! This is my third year in a row that I'm going.
MappingChick@reddit
TIL Sevendust is still around.
foozebox@reddit
Coal Chamber has kept it together for 27 years? Wild.
Hntrbdnshog@reddit
That’s crazy. I have one of Reina Foss’s bass picks from like 2004 in my concert relics box.
RevolutionaryEcho460@reddit
There have been some pretty long periods during that time when they have been broken up/inactive.
Warrior-Cook@reddit
They actually just put out an album this past Friday. On a quick check of it, the vocals are smooth and the guitars are punchy, not bad.
kingofcrob@reddit
I can't be the only one who sees a 4-day festival and thinks get rid of one if not two of the days.
crazycatlady331@reddit
The easy solution on the festival end is to sell day passes.
ezmoney98@reddit
Easily solved by not going lol
kingofcrob@reddit
LoL... Not setting foot in the states till shit cools down.
protossaccount@reddit
TIL sublime still performs
mycatlovesprimus@reddit

Butt Rock. Wow that's a lot of butt rock

In this economy? That Sunday lineup is tempting though. If I didn’t have kids, bills and a chronic illness.
theluzah@reddit
I have so little money for fun stuff :(
gerardkimblefarthing@reddit
Tool and Dethklok on the same day? I'm in. But it's Ohio, so I'm out. Too far to commute.
masttr01@reddit
The set times actually overlap so you'll have to miss half of Tool to see Dethklok...sucks
quickblur@reddit
Damn that's a great lineup
MasterDave@reddit
Finally a festival for old people who haven’t listened to anything new in 20 years.
Original_Ad8991@reddit
Check out Louder than Life in Louisville. Same concept, a lot of the same bands.
thepatientwaiting@reddit
I'm going to the Sunday show and I'm very excited. The stage Tool is on is a 90s feverdream.Â
Original_Ad8991@reddit
It is. I saw them at 2023 and a couple of times at the Yum Center so far, wanted to go this year but as of right now I can’t swing it.
Murphy1d@reddit
It's not a Sonic Temple without The Cult
sparkster777@reddit
If I still lived near Cincinnati I would. Now, no chance.
FoppyRETURNS@reddit
Even My Chemical Romance is a boomer band now. 💀

Jesus Christ what a lineup.

cyberdude419@reddit
It’s called Aftershock festival in CA, I would love to see Tool
not_now_chaos@reddit
That lineup is stacked, holy shit.
OmahaWarrior@reddit
Cant afford it. Not young anymore either.
d6punk@reddit
This might be the biggest lineup of bands I have no interest in seeing I've ever seen.
marbotty@reddit
Haha same
zoddie3@reddit
Decent lineup, but I'm going to Warped instead. It'll be like the old days! Except tickets cost literally 8 times as much.
Sigh.
My knees already hurt.
LarryGoldwater@reddit
zoddie3@reddit
I feel thin, sort of stretched, like butter scraped over too much bread.
EvilBill515@reddit

GravyPainter@reddit
4 days is too much. If I had to pick one Id do Sunday for Tool, MegaDeath and Public Enemy
PNWoutdoors@reddit
Plus ELECTRIC CALLBOY!
detourne@reddit
And Castle Rat. Sunday would be the only day I'd go.
CoyoteDown@reddit
I could barely do Ozzfest in my 20s, and that was a single day.
nouseforaname79@reddit
Aftershock 100%, Sunday only so I can catch that Queens of the Stone Age/STP back to back…as weird as that is.
Lawndemon@reddit

Friday-Sunday look good
punkpcpdx@reddit
It's not even day that I can see Kublai Kahn, Everclear, and Shinedown on the same day.
And that's a day I really never asked for. So no, I for one won't be going
Mr_Snub@reddit
I went to Street Scene in San Diego back in 04 to see the Foo Fighters, and that was pretty much my fill of music festivals.
napalmthechild@reddit
I’m just waiting for psycho Las Vegas to come back. Being able to go up to your room between sets was like living in a dream.
cmgww@reddit
Not too far from Indianapolis. I’d go to see Breaking Benjamin (again), but $200?? Yikes
adamcmorrison@reddit
Damn so many bands I like. That’s wild
thisisallme@reddit
I’m local and so excited
One-Earth9294@reddit
Lol I JUST saw Behemoth a week ago.
Honestly not a terrible lineup. I don't live in Ohio though. We have Metalfest here in Milwaukee.
Interesting seeing Marylin Manson though.
SquirrelEnthusiast@reddit
My whole face when I saw the same sepultura.
